Reseach problem and purpose

In the problem of the study ,there is no clarity on their variables ,setting on the
effect of aroma therapy with deep breathing exercises and music therapy on pain
among abdominal surgical patients on their second post-operative day and the
significant difference on the effect on pain between experimental and the control
group. When it comes to the significance of the study it should be well organized to
which the study will be directed to. For example One item would be significance for
the patient or the subject followed significant others next would be nurses and last
would be for the future researches.

2.Literature Review
One observation when it comes post operative pain which can affect all organ
system they enumerated a lot of specific condition in the organs affected which
most of it are known. Second would be most literature review mostly support on
International and less on local facts. Third would be, When it comes to proper
referencing some of them are not in APA format for example The Acute Pain
Management Guideline Panel in which no author ,year of publication only a title.
On the other hand The Review of literature starts with facts which concentrates on
pain consist of definition, The common surgeries in the Philippines, Pharmacological
Interventions like the 3 step Ladder and it is followed by A non pharmacological
intervention which is the used of Aroma Therapy ,Deep breathing Exercise and
Music Therapy with definition and its effects which is well
organized,
comprehensive discussion with logic and purpose on why is it used and its benefit.

3.Study Framework
In this study theoretical framework should be sued rather than conceptual
framework which uses a theory of gate control which can support the theory of this
research study. The theoretical framework introduces and describes the theory that
explains why the research problem under study exists. when it comes to how the
framework is linked to its variable is not evident in the framework it focus more on
the process to which it leads pain is not perceived by the patient.

4.Research Objectives,Questions and Hypothesis

When it comes to the research objectives,They just mentioned the significant
difference on the effect on pain between the experimental group and the control
group without any variables such as age and gender, etc.

5. Design
The design of the study would be Randomized controlled trial used not the pre test
and post test. Randomized controlled trial test the efficacy or effectiveness of
various types of medical intervention and may provide information about effects of
the treatment group in which participants receive AROBDEM while in the control
group ,participants will receive Distilled water and DBE.

6. Sample,population, and Setting

One observation when it comes the target population ,they just failed to mention
the gender being included in the population as we all know that female and male
have different perception of pain or pain threshold.Second is the adequacy of the
sampling method that was used which is 20 participants for the experimental and
20 participants for the control group in which there is no significant basis of the
said number of the participants. Third would be no sampling method that was used
only research design which is randomized clinical trial was mentioned.

7. Measurements

The adequacy in measuring study variables which is having a total of 40

participants is inadequate for them to tell that the result of the study would be
effective. The number of the participants have no significant basis of which that is
only the population to be used. When it comes to the age of 25 who are post
abdominal surgical patients have no distinction on the gender as their participants if
only one of them or both will be used. Another one would be their basis on the age
of their participants which will be used in their study.

8. Data Collection
On the said data collection there is no clarity since it is not a step by step
procedure in which they should have an endorsement letter on the institution
(Hospital) before directing it to the patient but they also include on how the
researchers will collect the data. Another observation would be the enumerated 2
ethical principles involve in the study. We can also include Autonomy and
Confidentiality in the ethical principles. Possible threat would be since there is no
Autonomy which would be exercised by the participants they would just sign the
consent.Another one if the patient is allergic to the lemon grass while smelling it
while doing DBE.

9. Data Analyses
The description of data analysis when it comes to clarity is not well observed in the
study since there are information missing or not included. The ability to address
each objectives and hypothesis lacks variables which can complete the
statement. The appropriateness to the type of data collected would somehow vary
since the variables would be used would be the same or only one for gender but the
age will be constant.

10.Treatment of Data
The T test is used correctly as one of the statistical treatment in study since we
would like to determine if there is a significant difference in the pain ratings of the
treatment as well as the control groups.
