Adding or Replacing OMUb in dual

server mode

Step 1:- Check the status of backup swith and swap switch status.
Login via putty or ssh
# cd /BSC6000/bscswm/omuroot/daemon
# ./omutool status
If status is not same like shown then
# ./omutool setswap enable

Remarks :- The status should be same as shown below.

Step 2:--- Backing Up Board Software and Data

Back up the software and data of the board to the local

computer. The directories to be backed up are as follows:
/BSC6000/bscswm
/BSC6000/btsswm
/BSC6000/data
1. In the Windows operating system, choose Start > Run.
2. Assume that the IP address of the GOMU is 192.168.1.1,
enter \\192.168.1.1, and click OK.
3. Double-click the bsc6000 folder, and enter the user name
and password. The default user name is bsc6000, and the
default password is 11111111.
4. Modify the properties of all the folders and files in the
BSC6000 directory.
Log in to the GOMU as the root user through putty.
a Run the chmod 777 /BSC6000 R command to modify
the properties of all the folders and files in the BSC6000
directory.
5. Log in to the GOMU through samba, and then back up the
operational data directory on the local PC.
6. Back up board software bscswm , btsswm and data .

Step 3:---

Taking back up of configuration parameters

Login into putty or ssh and use command

# omuctrl cfgshow

Step 4:--Replace the faulty OMUb card

After replacing wait for couple of min.
Step 5:--- Login in to standby OMUb card via ETH2 port and run the
following commands in putty or ssh.
# rpm qa | grep omu
If no information display then we can assume that the OMUb is fresh and
not been having any OMU software .
Step 5:--- installing OMU software
Login into samba via ETH2 copy the below mentioned five files into install
folder

Login into putty / ssh via ETH2 and run following commands

# cd /BSC6000/install
# rpm -Uvh omu-9.8.1-15-300.i586.rpm

Step 6:--- Configure the IP for stand by card

Run the following commands by login into putty / ssh via ETH2
# omuctrl cfg
And this IP is the same as Active board and will be available when
switching the standby GOMU to active board.Use the below
mentioned IPs for configuraton for BS 121 neyatinkara.

Step 7:-- Recovering the Board Software and Data

Copy the software and data, which is backed up from the
active GOMU to the local PC, to the directory of the
standby GOMU board to recover the software and data on
the standby GOMU board. Recover the software first, and
then recover the data. The procedure is as follows:

1. Log in to the GBAM /GOMU as the root user with

192.168.1.1, and then set the authority of the
/BSC6000 using command
# chmod 777 /BSC6000 -R
2. Recover the software.
Copy the directory to the /BSC6000/ directory through
samba and overwrite the existing folders.

3. Recover the data.

Copy all the files in data/ directory to the /BSC6000/data
directory through samba and overwrite the existing
files.

Starting the Standby OMU and Receiving the

Backup of the Latest Running Data
Step 8:--- To start the OMU software of standby GOMU
board:
Login into ETH2 of stand by via putty or ssh and use
following command

# omuctrl start
The backup switch of the active GOMU board has been
enabled in procedure When the OMU software of
standby GOMU board is started, the initial backup
between the active and standby GOMU boards start.
The data on the active GOMU board is periodically
backed up on the standby GOMU board. The default
backup interval is 5 minutes.

Step 9:--Run the Yast command to check and set the time .
Step 10:--Check the swap switch state of standby OMUb card.
Step 10 :--- Login to active OMUb and swap board .
