A MUN, or also known as a Model United Nations Conference

is
an
extracurricular
activity
in
which
students
typically role play delegates to the United Nations and
simulate UN committees.

WhaT IS DIPLOMACY?

Diplomacy is the skill of conducting international

relations and negotiations without arousing hostility and
without violating your foreign policy.

In a MUN, Diplomacy is a skill that is imperative for a

delegate to do well.

Agendas or topics of discussion that are decided well

before a MUN is what a delegate deliberates on in the
committee of a MUN.

Sample agendas:
1. Production of generic drugs in all countries with or
without patenting.

2. Combating the Issue of Youth Unemployment.

The rules of procedure and format of debate in a MUN are

by and large the most difficult and the most important
things to master.

The rules of procedure vary with different conferences

and different parts of the world. However, at CityU we
will be following the Harvard Rules of Procedure with a
few small variations of our own.
