After reading all the course content of management and
supervision ,I could imagine that after the lectures ,studies ,training application of the course
and
we will be enhance ourselves in developing
administrative and supervisory skills of a professional midwife. It will also
upgrade us in the changes brought by the modern technology . I learned that Supervision is an authoritative direction of the work of ones subordinates which is
based on their hierarchical
organization in which each level of subordinate to the one immediately above
it and subject to its orders. It is also a cooperative relationship between a leader and one or more persons to accomplish a particular purpose and supervision is a kind of teaching which involves, advising, helping, inspiring leading and liberating. Being a Midwife Supervisor you should see that the organization is meeting its goals, ensuring that staff are performing their jobs so they will contribute a share of the accomplishment of goals and you should be able to focus on daily problems and goals. When it comes to the principles of Supervision I learned that being a supervisor you should strive to make the
health station a better place. Good supervision is also well
planned which means objectives, methods of supervision and criteria for
judging are fully understood. I learned the different the following universal concept for certain principles of management which Include: 1. Division of work. Tasks must be assigned.2. Authority and responsibility. The right to give orders.3. Discipline. Obedience and respect.4. Unity of command. Subordinates should receive orders from only one supervisor.5. Unity of direction. The objective should have only one plan.6. Subordination of individual interest to general interest. The staff interest should never prevail over the interest of the organization. 7. Centralization. Only one point in the organization should have control over all the parts. 8. Scalar chain. There must be an unbroken chain of managers from top to bottom, and authority must follow the chain. 9. Order. Everything and everyone has a place. 10. Equity. Fairness results from a combination of kindness and justice. 11. Esprit de corps. The group should work as a team, and every member must work toward the organizational goal. I learned that being an administrator you should treats all people with the same respect and fairness and does not play favorites. You make decisions about a staff based on job performance and not on whether she likes or dislikes someone. You handles each problem with objectivity and

doesn't allow personal feelings to dictate her course of action. When a
situation requires discipline, you should ensure that the action she takes is consistent with similar cases, so that no one can accuse her of favoritism. An effective administrator is able to motivate her staff to perform beyond company standards. To achieve this goal, a good administrator must know the strengths and weaknesses of her staff . She must praise an staff and give recognition when an assignment or project is executed well and find tactful ways that need improvement. An effective administrator seeks a mentoring relationship to help them move up the corporate ladder. Mentoring requires a willingness to share past experiences and insider tips that only come from having been in the same position as the staff.
