PAST CONTINUOUS
(PASADO CONTINUO)
El pasado continuo se utiliza para acciones que ocurrieron en un momento
especfico en el pasado.
Como el presente continuo se forma con el verbo to be y el
gerundio.
Gramatical rules (reglas gramaticales)

FORM
(FORMA)

Para formar el pasado continuo se utiliza el verbo auxiliar to be y el


gerundio (infinitivo+ing) del verbo. El verbo auxiliar to be est en el
pasado simple, pero hay que tener en cuenta que to be es un verbo
irregular.

STRUCTURE
(ESTRUCTURA)
1.-afirmative sentences (frases afirmativas)
Sujeto+verbo auxiliar (to be)+gerundio.

EXAMPLE

1.-He was eating. (Estaba comiendo)
2.-they were learning. (estaban aprendiendo)

SIMPLE PAST
The simple past, 1 Also known as the simple past is the tense used in

time in the past. It corresponds in its meaning to perfect simple in
Spanish.2
Simple Past tense is used to describe actions that have happened at
an earlier time and have already finished, for example:

AFFIRMATIVE
With regular verb
When the verb is regular, the claims are built using the infinitive and
adding the ending ed them (od if the infinitive ends in e.)
Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa. (Leonardo da Vinci painted
the Mona Lisa)
The teacher used a red pencil to correct the exams. (The teacher used
a red pen to correct the exams)
With irregular verb
When the verb is irregular, must be sought in the second column (in
the list of simple past)
I went fishing last weekend. (I went fishing last weekend.)
I bought a car. (He bought a car).

NEGATIVE
To express a denial last time, you must use both regular and irregular
verbs, the auxiliary last more not (did not or did not + the infinitive):
I did not go to Salamanca last month. (I did not go to Salamanca last
month.)
I did not do my homework yesterday. (I did not do my homework
yesterday.)

INTERROGATIVE
For questions you need to use the auxiliary did + the subject (I, you,
he, she, it, we, and they) + the infinitive + complement.
Did you see the thief's face? (Did you see the face of the thief?)
Did you visit your grandparents last week? (Did you visit your
grandparents last week?)

EXAMPLE:
She cleaned her house. She cleaned her house.
I broke the window. I broke the window.
Here we see their conjugation in the Spanish equivalent to the
Present Indefinite. It notes that the sentence structure is similar to the
Simple Present:
Both interrogative and negative form is used as an auxiliary DID that
is the last form of the verb "TO DO" and accompanies the main verb
in its infinitive form. In the contracted form denials it DID NOT namely
