A Giants fan reacts to a fourth-quarter Falcons touchdown at MetLife Stadium, where Atlanta took advantage of late
offensive and defensive breakdowns by the Giants to pull ahead with 1:14 remaining and win Sundays game, 24-20.

Pope John Paul II stepped onto the

stage, and the earth shook. As he
crossed 10 yards in front of me in Mile
High Stadium, the pontiff waved amid a
deafening roar.
It lasted the better part of an hour.
Ive attended a Super Bowl and the
NBA Finals, a presidential election
rally and many rock concerts. Nothing approaches
the elation I witnessed at World Youth Day in Denver
during August 1993.
That vibe should be present this week as Pope
Francis visits Washington, D.C., New York and Philadelphia. Many folks going to see him have fair concerns about crowd sizes and transportation. My advice is this: Put on your best walking shoes and enjoy
the journey.
It may be the only pilgrimage you ever take.
Lisa Gravato gets it. The Tuckerton native is one of

Sundays papal Mass in Philadelphia.

FEMA payments take longer than promised

Many Sandy victims still not seeing money for flood insurance claims
RUSS ZIMMER @RUSSZIMMER

Only 27 checks have been issued as a result of

FEMAs pledge to review thousands of superstorm
Sandy flood insurance claims and to quickly pay homeowners if they were shorted the first time around.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency acknowledged Friday that some of the initial applicants in
the Sandy Claims Review have been waiting longer
than the 90-day turnaround that the agency had origi-

nally promised.
FEMA spokesman Rafael Lemaitre told the Asbury
Park Press that policyholders have been through
enough already and that the FEMA team is working
through these reviews as quickly as possible.
Over the past couple of weeks weve doubled the
number of adjusters handling reviews and theyre now
working 7 days a week, he said. We wont stop until
