CHAPTER 3

Research Methodology & Procedure

This chapter represents the methods & procedures on how the researchers
came up with the study. This includes:

1. Research Design
The researchers use the descriptive design which is descriptive-survey that
aims to know the extent to which different conditions and situations are obtained
among these subjects. This is useful in providing the value of facts and focusing
attention on the most important things. Descriptive research design aims to
observe and describe a subject without affecting its normal actions. The survey
term presents the data gathering where varies situation, the subjects have been
taken. It is valuable in giving the facts value and determining the most essential
facts that are presented.
Using the descriptive-survey, it is important to identify the psychological and
social aspects of the study with which the evidence application and
implementation to consider factors and effects. The data from the descriptivesurvey may aid in solving practical problems (Calmorin, 2007).

3. Respondents
The researchers will present a mock-up catalog and distribute the survey
questionnaires to 194 (70 male and 124 female) Third Year Marketing
Management students of New Era University.

4. Instrumentation

The researchers used the following instruments in gathering data:

a.Questionnaire the primary instrument used for this study, the queries are
divided into two (2) categories namely: (a) respondents personal data, and
(b) respondents perception on Odd-pricing strategy used in the market.
b.Mock-up catalog this tool contains pictures of clothes from Bench with
corresponding mock-up odd prices. This will serve as reference of the
respondents in answering the questionnaires.
c.Interview this tool was used to clarify responses made by the respondents to
the research survey questions.
d.Documentary analysis findings of gathered information are based on books,
articles and internet.

5. Data Analysis Procedure

The data gathering procedures consisted of preparation, administration,
retrieval, and validation of survey questionnaire.
Preparation The researchers prepared a set of survey questionnaire and a
mock up catalog. And some interview questions to clarify responses made by
the respondents to the research survey questions.
Administration The survey was conducted at New Era University. The
survey questionnaires and mock-up catalog were personally distributed by the
researchers to the selected respondents. The respondents were given 2
minutes to choose at least 3 items from the mock up catalog and enough time
to answer the survey forms.

Retrieval The researchers collected the data for tallying the scores and
applied descriptive statistical treatment to be used in this study.
Validation On the validation procedure for the instruments to be used for
the research, the complete instruments were presented to the researchers
Adviser, Dr. Elisa M. Valdez, to find out if all areas are already covered by the
questionnaire. The necessary corrections and revisions are made according
to the Advisers suggestions, until the final format was approved.
