NEW NATION BRAND MAKE IT KENYA CAMPAIGN IS
REVEALED TO TOURISM AND INVESTMENT LEADERS
Make it Kenya set to drive investment, commerce and
tourism internationally
Nairobi, 22 September: The Cabinet Secretary of East African
Affairs, Commerce and Tourism (MEAACT), Mrs. Phyllis Kandie, today
officially introduced the new Make it Kenya nation brand campaign
to local tourism, business and investment stakeholders at an event
at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).
Todays event followed the official international launch of Make it
Kenya, which was unveiled during President Kenyattas visit to Italy
for Kenyas celebrations at EXPO Milano early this month.
The reaction to todays launch was well received by tourism and
investment leaders and even prompted prominent businessman and
entrepreneur Chris Kirubi to take the stage and urge the people of
Kenya and the private sector to really support Make it Kenya to
make it a success.

During the launch event, Mrs. Phyllis Kandie, said: Typically when
people think of a brand they think of corporations and products.
However, with the continued rise of globalisation, it is imperative
that Kenya has a nation brand that can differentiate us and tell our
story.
The Make it Kenya campaign has been designed to make us
competitive and to stand out on the global stage, but equally so it
will resonate with the Kenyan people the heart and soul of our
country. It is a new and fresh identity that will reaffirm to the world
that Kenya is a modern and vibrant country that is open and ready
for them to visit, and we call on people around the world to join us
by visiting MakeitKenya.com, she concluded.
The launch included an overview of the new nation brand campaign
and how it will be used to promote and enhance Kenyas position,
as a global leader in investment, commerce and tourism.
Attendees were also introduced to the dedicated campaign portal
MakeItKenya.com and supporting social media platforms, which
have been specifically designed as a source of rich sharable content
that will connect the world to Kenya, through peoples computers,
smart phones and digital devices.
CEO of Brand Kenya Mary Kimonye said: As the custodians of
Kenyas brand, it is our responsibility to develop and drive an
identity

that

can

balance

our

countrys

ambitions

towards

modernity and economic dynamism, but also respects and reflects

our rich heritage, culture and values.

The feedback on the new Make it Kenya brand has already been
extremely positive as it supported our award for the best pavilion in
the Expo Milanos coffee cluster.

The Ministry of East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism is

planning a number of initiatives to drive the Make it Kenya
campaign forward including an international tour to key source
markets to help drive tourism and investment.
