A few instructions before we begin:


1. Class coordinators are requested to take the
attendance of their respective classes.
2. Discipline committee members are requested to
take their respective positions.
3. Audience, kindly maintain the decorum of the
auditorium. The only form of appreciation accepted
is applause.

Confucius once said, The will to win, the desire to
succeed, the urge to reach your full potential
these are the keys that will unlock the door to
personal excellence.
A very good afternoon and a warm welcome to one
and all present here. We are gathered here today
for the CUMA Inauguration 2015-16.
We start our journey towards personal excellence
by seeking the Almightys grace. We request the
Director of Admissions and Student Affairs,
Reverend Fr. Viju P D, Associate Dean, Deanery of
Commerce and Management, Prof. Suresh Pai,
Head Dept. of Management Studies, Dr. Jain
Mathew, CUMA Coordinator Prof. Jayant Kalghatgi
and the Student Representative Surya Kiran to

light the lamp while Abhishek Ayiyapan renders


the invocation song. The audience is requested to
refrain from applauding at the end of the song.
A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a
single step. The step being taken by Prof. Jayanth
Kalghatgi by welcoming this august gathering.

Prof. Jayant Kalghatgi is an Assistant Professor in


the Dept. of Management Studies. He has a Master
of Commerce degree in Accounting and Taxation
from Karnatak University and a Master of
Philosophy from Bharathiar University. He is
currently perusing his doctorate from Bhartiar
University. Sir has keen research interest in
Mergers and Acquisition of Firms and its impact on
Shareholders and has presented papers in
regional, national and international conferences.
Sir has also published his research work in reputed
journals.
We now invite the CUMA Coordinator to deliver the
welcome address.

Dr. Jain Mathew is Professor and Head of the


Department of Management Studies. S`ir has
finished his Master of Commerce in Financial
Management from Mahatma Gandhi University, his
Master of Philosophy in Commerce from Maduari
Kamaraj University and his doctorate in
Management from Bharathidasan University. He
has served this institution for 25 years. Apart from
numerous publications in the form of books and
articles in journals, he has attended various
national and international seminars and
conferences.
Sir has always been a leading light and a mentor
for all our activities and has constantly inspired us
to reach for greater heights. Sir we request you to
energize the young minds here.

The Centre For Social Action is an integral part of


the vision and commitment of Christ University. We
call upon Abhishek Aiyappan to give us an
overview of the same.

Our associate dean, Professor Suresh Pai,


completed his Bachelors in Education from the
Government College of Education, and went on to
obtain his Masters in Business Administration from
Delhi University. With over 40 years of work
experience in the banking sector, Sir has held the
positions of Deputy General Manager of
Corporation Bank, where he served for 25 years
and Executive Vice President of Indus Bank where
he served for 15 years. Sir has trained in 2 foreign
banks, namely the Manufacturers of Hanover Trust,
and the Chemical Bank, both based in New York.
Sir is also the Assistant Governor of Rotary
District, as part of Rotary International.
We request our Associate dean Prof Suresh Pai to
kindly address the gathering.

Reverend Fr.Viju P.D is Director of Admissions and


Student Affairs in Christ University. Father has
completed his Bachelor of Arts from H.N.B.
Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, his Master of
Arts from M.G University, Kerela, his Master of
Philosophy from Bharathiar University and has
submitted his thesis for doctorate for the same.
Apart from presenting various papers and
attending conferences and seminars far and wide,
father Viju has also been a part of numerous

workshops and training programmes. Father has


been a constant motivator to all of us and plays an
integral role in the smooth functioning of the
University.
Let us now lend our ears and open our hearts to
the inspirational message from our Chief Guest
Thank you for the splendid message. It has truly
inspired many of us.

Finometrics is a newsletter published at the


beginning of every month by the MBA (Financial
Management) students. We now have Sachin Philip
presenting an outline of the same.

Fests in the Department of Management Studies


are central to the growth and development of

every student. Vistas is the first fest of the season


organized by the CUMA. It brings together
students not only from MBA (Financial
Management) but also the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year
students from BBA, BBA (with Honors) and
BBA(Finance &International Business).
We now present to you the curtain raiser video of

This year marks the 25th year since the inception of
the Department of Management Studies. This
journey has seen us grow from the strength of a
mere 30 to over 1750 students and has taken us
from humble beginnings to being the best in the
country. To mark this special occasion, we request
our Head of Department Dr. Jain Mathew and
Coordinator BBA, Dr. Jyoti Kumar to cut the cake
and start our year long celebrations!

Please be seated. We now sign off as the formal


emcees and hand over proceedings to the informal
emcees Pranav and Ronak.
