Shelf Plates
Typically a shelf plate would consist of one or
two pneumatic actuators complete with air
preparation, an associated control system
and all necessary linkages and bearings for
operating the door.
The self contained assembly is normally situated
above the door aperture.

Pneumatic units
-

include single or double cylinder assemblies to

allow independent opening of each leaf of a
double door
are suitable for the operation of both gliding
and folding doors
can be controlled by pilot air, direct pneumatic
or electro-pneumatic units
are available with obstruction detection,
transmission interlocks,
and step light switching.

The associated control system would be

suitable for either air bleed, direct pneumatic
or electro-pneumatic operation.

Push Buttons
Designed in close cooperation with the
world's major bus and mass transit vehicle
manufacturers, the Parker Pneumatic range
of Electro-Pneumatic Push Buttons offers a
wealth of standard features combined with a
wide choice of optional colours and legends
to suit almost any application :-

Standard Features :
Compact envelope size, maximum dept
only 40mm to suit modern bodywork
structures.
Interchangeable electric and pneumatic
micro-switches, giving a N/O or N/C
operation
All pneumatic port connections 4mm
push in, electric micro-switches have
spade connectors.
Lightweight construction in non-corrosive
materials with 'spark' finish and wipe
clean facias.
Simple to mount, any micro-switch with
matching dimensions may be used.
IP 65 protection.

Options :
Pressure applied, air bleed or electrical
installations.
Twin or single buttons units with square
or round buttons
Customised legends to suit application
Push buttons can be supplied in a range
of alternative colours.
Facias can be supplied in a range of
alternative colours.
Streamlined flush mounted buttons or
raised buttons to facilitate operation in
difficult conditions.

Actuators
The Parker Pneumatic range of door actuators
come complete with adjustable cushions,
adjustable speed control, M5 sensing ports and
6mm push-in port connections which are all at the
rear of the actuator.
The mountings and piston rod end are available
to suit the shelf plate design.

Valves
The standard valve can be supplied for air
bleed, pressure applied and electrical
operation. The valve interface conforms to
the VDMA standard 24563 providing
interchangeability.
The manifold block which contains all push-in
port connections is designed for each
application to give customers the most cost
effective solution.

Fittings and
Connectors
Parker offers one of the most comprehensive
ranges on the market, including plastic 'push-in'
type, nickel plated brass push-in or compression
types and a complete range of stainless steel
fittings. Available in a wide selection of metric
sizes, we can offer versions suitable for various
pressures, vacuum and vibration applications in
the most demanding of environments.

Air
Preparation
The Mini and Modular FRL air preparation
systems offer a wide selection of products,
port sizes, combinations and accessories
for the efficient control of compressed air.

Pneumatic/Electro pneumatic
control systems
A typical electro pneumatic control system similar to
that illustrated provides directional control for the door
actuators together with an emergency solenoid Dump
Valve and Soft Start Valve to ensure controlled
movement when air is re-applied.

Electro pneumatic control

systems can also provide in
addition to the directional
control in the door actuator, a
pressure switch for sensing
door obstructions, with the
facility to provide pneumatic
output signals for ancillary
equipment.

The systems shown above are just two examples of the many control systems
developed in conjunction with Parker Pneumatic's customers in the bus and coach
door industry.
Parker's aim is to work closely with its customers to develop a total package that is
cost effective and provides the customers with the benefits of compact modern
design, ease of maintenance and meets the exacting needs of the bus and coach
industry.

Sensing
Within the Bus and Coach industry there is a legal
requirement to provide obstruction detection
within the door system. This should reverse the
movement of the door leaves should a
passenger or some other obstruction restrict the
doors operation.
This can be achieved either, by using electrical
sensing in the nosing rubbers or by electrical or
pneumatic sensing of the door actuators.

Air Supply

The schematic diagram above provides either an

electrical or a pneumatic output to reverse the
door leaves should the door actuators be
prevented from completing their stroke due to
obstruction. This is achieved by using a
pressure sensing valve which monitors the
pressure variations across each side of the
actuator piston.
