Interpretation of Results
Module 3 is about Time Response of First Order System. For the first
part, the system is given with unit impulse as an input then it was plot in
terms of time-domain using plot command based on the graph it was
exponentially decaying, after that the given system was generated to
continuous-time transfer function then a graph was generated using the
impulse command, based on the result both graphs are the same since
they are the same function but with different commands of generating the
graph.
The second part is about a system with unit step as an input. Given
the same system with the previous item, it was plot with a unit step input
but then again it was plot it terms of time-domain using plot command
based on the graph it was increasing exponentially, after that the given
system with unit step input was generated to continuous-time transfer
function then a graph was generated using the step command, based on
the result both graphs are the same since they have the same function but
with different methods of generating the graph which is in terms of timedomain and in terms of s-domain.
The third part is about a system with a ramp function as an input.
Based on the graph it is linear which we can say it is a ramp function. For
the fourth part it is a system with a parabolic function as an input. Based on
the result, the graph really looks like a part of a parabolic curve.

The fifth part is about determining the time constant, rise time, and
settling time of the step response given the two system in the module. With
the use of the ltiview command to know the time on each point of the
graph, based on the result if the pole is farther than the origin it makes the
system to have faster step response. System (a) with a pole s=-2 and
system (b) with a pole s=-20, based on the given, system (b) has a faster
response.
In the seatwork we determine the transfer function by the graph
given, with the time parameters and amplitude given we derive the transfer
function.

Conclusion:
Based on what Ive learned from this module we can generate plot
with two methods with an input of unit impulse and unit step function. In
terms of time-domain we can use plot command to generate a graph for
both system with unit impulse and unit step. Then in terms of s-domain we
can generate plot using impulse command, for an input with unit impulse
while step for an input with unit step. Unit impulse has an input of 1 while
unit step has an input of 1/s.
Ive also learned that for a ramp function, it has an input of 1/s^2 and
it has a linear output which is looks like a ramp.
Ive also learned that for a parabolic function, it has an input of 1/s^3
and it has a parabolic curve graph.
Based on the module, I also conclude if the pole is farther than the
origin it make the step response of the system faster.
With ltiview command we can know the different time parameters of
the graph which we can figure out easily the time constant, rise time, and
the settling time. We can also know the amplitudes using this command of a
certain point on the graph.
The formula to know the time constant is 1/a where a is the part of
the first order system (ex. G(s) = a/(s + a)) , to know the rise time it is
equal to 2.2/a, and for settling time is equal to 4/a.
