Check for any other relay flags existing.
Note down any other WAN appearing.
If this relay appears for a particular CB due to actual VT fuse failure, then the
backup protection for that breaker is not available, but main protection is
available. Provided bus coupler CB is in closed condition.
If the above relay appears for all the feeders connected to a particular 220 kV
main bus due to actual VT fuse failure, then it is suspected that the main VT
fuse (16 A or 10 Amps.) might have failed. Even during such condition, all
main protection will be available and will be getting VT signal from the other
220 kV main bus EMVT (Through a auto changeover circuit), provided bus
coupler CB is in closed condition. Back up protection will not be available
during the above condition also. Inform EMU & get the problem rectified at the
earliest.
Check all main protections are healthy.

regarding tripping.
After clearance and fault rectification from EMU, test charge the tripped main
bus or tripped feeders can be connected to the other healthy main bus.
Analyse the incident in electrical DTR.
EFFECT ON SYSTEM
As per Operating Instruction-95/06, following are the feeders connected to the
220 kV main bus.
220 kV main Bus-I :
(a) KAPP-VAV-1 (CB-9).
(b) KAPP-VAPI-1 (CB-7).
(c) KAPP-HAL-1 (CB-13).
(d) SUT-2 (CB-10).
(e) GT-1 (CB-5)
(f) Bus coupler (CB-1).
220 kV main Bus-II :
(a) KAPP-VAV-2 (CB-8).
(b) KAPP-VAPI-2 (CB-6).
(c) KAPP-HAL-2 (CB-12).
(d) SUT-1 (CB-4).
(e) GT-2 (CB-11).
(f) Bus coupler (CB-1).
In case Bus bar protection relay actuates for main Bus-I then
(a)
These connected 220 kV lines will trip. SUT-2 will trip, resulting in auto
transfer scheme getting initiated, leading to KAPS-2 station loads
getting transferred on to UT-2 and Unit-2 will continue to operate.
(b)
In KAPS-1, unit will come on house load due to tripping of Generator
CB-5. Reactor setback will initiate and Reactor power will come down
to 70% FP, through steam dumping. Immediately turbine speed is to be
reduced to normal value.
In case bus bar protection relay action for main Bus-II, then
(a)
Three connected 220 kV lines will trip. SUT-1 will trip, resulting in auto
transfer scheme getting initiated, leading to KAPS-1 station loads
getting transferred on to UT-1 and Unit-1 will continue to operate.
(b)
In KAPS-2, unit will come on house load due to tripping of Generator
CB-11. Reactor set back will initiate and Reactor power will come down
to 70% FP, through steam dumping. Immediately turbine speed is to be
reduced to normal value.
If both main Bus-I & II tripping on bus bar differential protection, in case of
CB-1 failure to open, then station auxiliaries supply of both unit will transfer to
UT and Reactor set back will initiate & Reactor power will come down to 70%
FP through steam dumping.
EFFECT ON OTHER SYSTEM
One unit continue to operate at full power and other on house load.
