Thiscourseattemptstoprovideageneraloverviewoftheresearchoncausesandsettlementofinternationalconflicts.
Itprovidesabriefintroductiontoleadingtheoreticalapproachestothescientificstudyofconflict.ModuleIlooksat
theconditionsassociatedwithinterstatewars.Operatingatvariouslevelsofanalysisittriestoidentifywhynation
statesgotowar.Thesecondmoduletakesanoverviewoftheemergingsubfiledofconflictmanagement.Itbegins
withdefinitionalandconceptualizationissuespertainingtoconflictmanagement.Thecoursewillsubsequentlytake
intoaccountdifferenttypesofconflictmanagementaswellasassessingtheireffectiveness.Thisisbynomeansa
comprehensiveassessmentofconflictliteratureinsteaditisabriefsurveyofmajortheoreticalandempiricalresearch
inthesecuritydomainofInternationalRelations.
