DDB NEW YORK LAUNCHES EFFORT FOR UNITE TO FACE ADDICTION RALLY
The first-ever event will benefit non-profit organization Facing Addiction to get
people talking about this serious issue
September 29, 2015 | New York, NY

DDB New York, part of Omnicom (NYSE: OMC), and Facing Addiction, a new national
organization that serves as the voice for over 85 million Americans impacted by
addiction, will launch advertising in support of The UNITE to Face Addiction Rally,
taking place in Washington, D.C. on October 4th, 2015 at the National Mall. The Rally
will mark the first-time the nation will collectively stand up to addiction and will feature
live performances by top musicians such as Joe Walsh, Steven Tyler, Sheryl Crow, The
Fray, Aloe Blacc, and more. Thousands are expected to participate in the Rally.
The UNITE to Face Addiction Rally on Oct. 4 marks the first time our nation will
collectively stand up to addiction, a health problem that impacts 1 in 3 households,
said Greg Williams, co-founder of Facing Addiction. We are grateful for DDBs efforts
in spreading our message and helping us to mobilize our coalition. Their contributions
have helped take this grassroots advocacy movement to the next level as we gather
over 600 partner organizations and supporters from around the world to join us on the
National Mall.
DDB New Yorks effort for the UNITE To Face Addiction Rally kicked-off with an event
trailer video that explains the serious issue of addiction and features the famous song,
Dream On, which has been donated by Aerosmiths Steven Tyler. In addition, the
Rally campaign includes social media elements such as pre-, on-site and post
activation efforts.
DDB New York and Facing Addiction are working together to ultimately de-stigmatize
addiction by shifting the focus of the conversation towards the fact that addiction is a
serious health issue that must be brought to national attention.
Chris Brown, Chief Executive Officer of DDB New York, said, I have seen at close hand
the devastation caused by addiction to families and friends. Its an issue the agency
has really galvanized behind and were proud to be working with Facing Addiction and
helping shift the focus of the conversation towards the fact that addiction is a health
issue that cannot be stigmatized or ignored.

DDB New York is responsible for the organizations overall new advertising which
launched on Labor Day, and runs up through the live event on October 4th. The
program includes a video, titled Conversations, which taps into the insight of how
people are already talking about addiction online but in a trivial way when the reality is
that addiction kills someone every four minutes. It also includes a print ad, which
announces the October 4th event, as well as social media and a :30 radio spot.
This effort marks DDBs first work for Facing Addiction. Additionally, DDB worked with
Fluid NY and editor, Michael Elliot, Oscar-winning visual effects and creative firm
Framestore and Sound Lounge on this effort. The support will continue with a national
campaign to raise awareness around addiction and get people talking about this
serious issue.
Framestore joined the effort to concept, design and animate two 14-ft wide by 28-ft tall
screens during the event. Called "Faces of Love", it will be a loop played during the
event featuring victims of addiction and those surviving addiction along with statistics
and facts that will serve to highlight the very real scale of the problem.
