The teacher reads the text so the pupils could hear the
pronunciation of the words and then, she names five
pupils to interpret the five characters in the text
(conversation).
Next the text is translated by the pupils with the help of
their teacher. After the text is translated, teacher asks the
pupils a few questions about the text and helps the pupils
to answer them.
The teacher asks the pupils to write down the useful
phrases and their translation in their notebooks then the
pupils have to use those phrases and complete a
conversation.
To introduce the grammar topic, the teacher asks the
pupils to tell what the adjectives are and to give some
examples of adjectives. Then the teacher draws a
table/chart on the blackboard and writes several
adjectives in their positive form, asks the pupils the
meaning of those adjectives to make sure that they
understand the information correctly and then asks the
pupils to pay attention and notice what changes take
place in the comparative form and then in the superlative
form of those adjectives. Pupils notice that in the
comparative form, the ending er is added to the
adjectives and in the superlative form the ending est is
added and, of course few other changes like, for example
the adjectives big or fat when the final consonant is
doubled or to notice the transformation of y in i in funny
and happy.
Teacher explains that there are irregular adjectives as
well as irregular verbs and, being irregular they dont
form their comparatives or superlatives by observing a
rule but they have different forms for comparative and

Because pupils noticed the changes in the comparative
and superlative form of those adjectives, teacher asks
them to write down the rules in their notebooks.
In order to practice the freshly acquired information, the
teacher asks the pupils to look at some pictures with
some actors and say who they think is the shortest/ the
tallest/ the youngest/ the oldest.
To use the information in real situations teacher asks
questions about the pupils in the class, as for example:
Who is the tallest in the classroom? Who is the shortest?
Who is the youngest? Who is the oldest?
Teacher gives the students some handouts that contain
more information about all sorts of adjectives,
information that they can use later on.
The teacher gives the pupils some handouts containing
an animal lover quiz in which the pupils have to answer
17 questions about animals. If the pupils answer the
questions correctly, the will obtain the names of four
farm animals. All the questions contain a superlative or a
comparative. The pupils are asked to work in group and
help each other, share opinions.
For homework pupils have to complete the text
(handouts) with some comparatives and superlatives.
