Aims:-to make students activate their vocabulary
-to give students practice in speaking
-to give students practice in reading
Objectives:
By the end of the lesson the pupils will have been able:
O1- to read the text fluently
O2-to use the Present Continuous in meaningful contexts
O3-to fill in the gaps using the appropriate word
O4- to answer some questions using the verbs in the
continuous form;
O5- to listen to the cassette in order to find out whos the new team
member
Functions: describing on going activities
Skills involved:-speaking, reading, listening
Methods : conversation, explanation, observation, analyses
and exercise.
Teaching aids : blackboard, notebook, textbook, drawings, CD player

Warm up:
a) Informal conversation
Teacher tries to create a pleasant and
comfortable atmosphere by means of routine
conversation:
T: Hello children! How are you today?
T: Who is on duty today?
T: Who is absent?
b) Checking homework( 4-5 min.)
T: What was your homework for today?
S: We had ex 7 on page 13.
7. Read and fill in: uncles, funny, tall,
Australia, favourite, fair

T: I ask students to read the exercise.
The teacher shows the children some pictures
illustrating different actions such as: skiing,
sailing, skating, playing the violin, surfing,
diving and plays the Cd to listen to their
pronunciation.
S: Go to the blackboard and choose the picture
corresponding to every action
The children are asked What is she/he doing?
They answer: He/she is skiing/ sailing/
skating/playing the violin/ surfing/diving.
Pre-Reading Activity:
The teacher introduces the new words using
pictures:
House warming party - a party that you give
when you move into a new house
Dish - all kinds of food
To cook - to prepare food that is ready to eat
To burn - to destroy something with fire
To dive - to jump into water with your head
first and your arms stretched
To skip - to jump over a rope

The teacher shows them pictures explaining


every new word from the vocabulary, and then
writes the title of the lesson and the words on
the blackboard.
Students write the words in their notebooks

Whos doing that?
Students go to the blackboard and stick the
childrens names on a board. After that they
play the memory game. They close their books
and try to remember the childrens names and

Further practice:
Ex.6 /18 The students listen to the Cd and find
out whos the new team member.
Miming game.
Teacher invites one of the students to take a
note from the desk and to mime what is written
on the note. The other students must guess
what he/she is doing
Evaluation: students receive worksheets; they
have to fill in the gaps
Teacher invites the pupils to sing the song Its
raining at the party
Homework: exercise 7/page 19
(Fill in the gaps) and to make a party hat.
