What does that look like? To some, it will look like we hate our
families because of our steadfast devotion to Jesus. To others, we
may look foolish for meeting head-on the struggles that following
Jesus will bring instead of running away. In short, being a dis-
ciple looks like one who is willing to suffer loss of relationships
and what is known as “the good life” to stay in step with Him.

This month our speaker will be Sherry Knox, Prevention Spe-
cialist, from Polk County Services. She will tell us about some
common “senior scams” and how to avoid them. In addition she
will share several brain exercises to help us stay mentally sharp
and on our toes!
Meal:
The meal will be BBQ meatballs, green bean casserole,
potatoes and dessert. Cost is just $3.00 per person.

 MISSION ONE  Reaching others for Jesus Christ
Alejandro & Robyn Armijo
Mission Board: ABWE
Location: Iquique, Chile
What do they do? The Armijos are
church planters. They established
the new Missionary Baptist Church in Puente Alto in early
2003 which has been turned over to a national pastor. In
2007 they moved from Santiago, 1,100 miles north to assist
in a church plant in Iquique. Alejandro is gifted in preaching
and evangelizing. Robyn helps with administration, teaches
womens’ Bible studies and oversees children’s ministries.
Praises:
• 50 young people attended their camp in Santiago. Many ac-
cepted Christ and others made decisions to dedicate their
lives.
Prayer Requests:
• For the youth who accepted Christ and those who made spiritual
decisions to grow in their walk with God.
• For Alejandro and Robyn as they study and prepare sermons,
lessons, etc.
• For a great school year for their children.
• For continued great attitudes as their children serve the Lord.
• For strength and good health for the family.
• For those who have been affected by the earthquake; that the
gospel will be proclaimed and God will be glorified.
Matt
Asia
What does he do? Matt was raised in a missionary home and led
to Christ by his father at age 6. In high school he became
a spiritual leader among his peers. Because of his interest
and ability in languages and linguistics and his love for
Scripture, he has been preparing to serve in Bible translation.
He is currently in language school preparing to translate the
Bible for an unreached language group.
Praises:
• For the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas
with Americans.
• God’s provision of a motor scooter.
• His vocabulary increases daily and he is getting better at using
proper grammar.
Prayer Requests:
• For his culture shock.
• For the repair of his computer.
• For making trips to 2-3 places where work needs to be done to
see where he might best be used.
• For God’s wisdom and guidance in the search.

Jim & Ruth Finke
Mission Board: Greater Europe Mission
Location: Pikermi (Athens), Greece
What do they do? Jim teaches at the
Greek Bible Institute, inspiring,
training and equipping servants of God, preparing them to
assist in the building of the body of Christ in Greece and
throughout the world. He is Director of the Alpha Program,
providing leadership in the areas of curriculum, faculty and
students. He is also Registrar and Academic Advisor to
students. Ruth also serves at the Institute and has a Women’s
Bible Class.
Praises:
• Ruth loves the Women’s Bible Study with a diverse group of
women.
• Their support account has remained positive these past months.
Prayer Requests:
• For Jim as he moves to the next comprehensive exam in his PhD
program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity school.
• For Jim to be able to successfully pass the remaining 3 exams
and reach the final hurdle of writing the dissertation.
• For Jim as he speaks in churches.
• For both as they work on a new volume of worship music for
use in their church. For God to sustain, nurture and increase
Ruth’s Bible Class.
Dr. Bill Becknell
Mission Board: Agape Unlimited, Inc.
Location: Moscow, Russia
What does he do? As a physician, Dr. Bill serves with medical
and lay people, forming expedition teams that travel north to
the Arctic Tundra and Siberia. Teams supply and distribute
Agape Health Kits to the very poor and share Christ with
many who have never heard. Dr. Bill is the first American
to receive a Family Practice diploma from Russia. The
ministry has helped plant 49 churches and the medical staff
has grown to 53.
Praises:
• The license for the Agape medical clinic in Moscow was of-
ficially approved in February.
• Last year 31 Agape teams provided medical care to “forgotten”
people in remote parts of Russia.
Prayer Requests:
• For many laborers to emerge and go with them on their 2010
expeditions.
• For the Russian staff as they plan and participate in all Russian
Hands of Love programs and expeditions.
• For translation of the Bible into the Koryak language, an indig-
enous tribe in Kamchatka.
