CLASIFICACIN Y DESCRIPCIN DEL ESPACIO AREO ATS
AIRSPACE CLASSIFICATION AND DESCRIPTION
El espacio areo ATS en el que se facilita servicio de trnsito areo se clasifica en espacio areo controlado y espacio
areo no controlado.
El espacio areo no controlado comprende el resto del espacio areo ATS y, en funcin del tipo de vuelo y los servicios de transito areo facilitados, se clasifica en clase F y G.
Cuando las partes del espacio areo se yuxtapongan verticalmente, es decir, una encima de la otra, los vuelos a un nivel comn cumplirn los requisitos correspondientes a la
clase de espacio areo menos restrictiva y se le prestarn
los servicios aplicables a dicha clase.
Cuando una parte del espacio areo ATS est situada dentro
de otra, en parte o en su totalidad, los vuelos en dicho espacio cumplirn los requisitos correspondientes a la clase de
espacio areo ms restrictiva y se les prestarn los servicios
aplicables a dicha clase excepto sectores y pasillos VFR.
Class A. IFR flights only are permitted. All flights are provided with air traffic control service and are separated from
each other. Continuous air-ground voice communications
are required for all flights. All flights shall be subject to ATC
clearance.
Class B. IFR and VFR flights are permitted. All flights are
provided with air traffic control service and are separated
from each other. Continuous air-ground voice communications are required for all flights. All flights shall be subject to
ATC clearance.

Class C. IFR and VFR flights are permitted. All flights are
provided with air traffic control service and IFR flights are
separated from other IFR flights and from VFR flights. VFR
flights are separated from IFR flights and receive traffic information in respect of other VFR flights and traffic avoidance advice on request. Continuous air-ground voice communications are required for all flights. For VFR flights a speed
limitation of 250 KT indicated airspeed (IAS) applies below
3050 m (10000 ft) AMSL, except where approved by the
competent authority for aircraft types, which for technical or
safety reasons, cannot maintain this speed. All flights shall
be subject to ATC clearance.
Class D. IFR and VFR flights are permitted and all flights are
provided with air traffic control service. IFR flights are separated from other IFR flights, receive traffic information in
respect of VFR flights and traffic avoidance advice on request. VFR flights receive traffic information in respect of all
other flights and traffic avoidance advice on request. Continuous air-ground voice communications are required for all
flights and a speed limitation of 250 KT IAS applies to all
flights below 3050 m (10000 ft) AMSL, except where approved by the competent authority for aircraft types, which for
technical or safety reasons, cannot maintain this speed. All
flights shall be subject to ATC clearance.
Class E. IFR and VFR flights are permitted. IFR flights are
provided with air traffic control service and are separated
from other IFR flights. All flights receive traffic information,
as far as is practical. Continuous air-ground voice communications are required for IFR flights. A speed limitation of
250 KT IAS applies to all flights below 3050 m (10000 ft)
AMSL, except where approved by the competent authority
for aircraft types, which for technical or safety reasons,
cannot maintain this speed. All IFR flights shall be subject to
ATC clearance. Class E shall not be used for control zones.
Class G. IFR and VFR flights are permitted and receive flight
information service if requested. All IFR flights shall be capable of establishing air-ground voice communications. A
speed limitation of 250 KT IAS applies to all flights below
3050 m (10000 ft) AMSL, except where approved by the
competent authority for aircraft types, which for technical or
safety reasons, cannot maintain this speed. ATC clearance
is not required.
Implementation of Class F shall be considered as a temporary measure until such time as it can be replaced by alternative classification.

Before entering a radio mandatory zone, an initial call containing the designation of the station being called, call sign,
type of aircraft, position, level, the intentions of the flight
and other information as prescribed by the competent
authority, shall be made by pilots on the appropriate communication channel.
DETERMINATION OF AIRSPACE CLASSES AND SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED, AIRSPACE AREAS FOR PURPOSES OF SERVICES PROVISION AND MANDATORY USE
OF RADIO (RMZ) AND TRANSPONDER (TMZ).
Por resolucin del Director de la Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Area, teniendo en cuenta las necesidades del Estado y
lo dispuesto en el libro 3 captulo 2 del Reglamento de la
Circulacin Area, se determinarn:
a) Las reas y rutas en que se facilitan los servicios de informacin de vuelo, de alerta y de bsqueda y salvamento;
as como aquellas reas y rutas que facilitan la coordinacin con las dependencias militares o con las dependencias de los servicios de trnsito areo competentes en
Estados adyacentes, a fin de evitar la posible necesidad
de interceptacin para fines de identificacin.
b) Las partes de espacio areo de clase E, F, y G designadas como zonas obligatorias de radio (RMZ).
c) Las zonas obligatorias de transpondedor (TMZ).
Taking into consideration the State needs and what is established in the Reglamento de la Circulacin Area (air traffic
regulations) book 3 chapter 2,the following information will
be determined under decision by the Director of Agencia
Estatal de Seguridad Area:
a) The areas and routes where are facilitated the provision
of flight information, alerting and search and rescue services; as well as those areas and routes which facilitate the
coordination with appropriate military units or with air
traffic services units in adjacent States in order to avoid
the possible need for interception for the purpose of
identification.
b) The parts of Classes E, F and G airspace designated as
Radio Mandatory Zones (RMZ).
c) The Transponder Mandatory Zones (TMZ).

13. El resto de los espacios areos de las FIR/UIR de Madrid, Barcelona y Canarias no incluidos en los apartados
precedentes son clase G.
Respecto al suministro de servicios de trnsito areo, el espacio areo de las zonas peligrosas o restringidas, TRA y
TSA:
se considera espacio areo no clasificado durante su periodo de actividad, salvo que se autorice su utilizacin a la
circulacin area; y
fuera de su perodo de actividad, y cuando en su perodo
de actividad se autorice su utilizacin a la circulacin area, tendrn la clasificacin del espacio areo dentro del
cual se hallen ubicadas.
