Less of Me, More of Him

October 4-October 10

Father God,
Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. Bless my church, Pastor
Ron and his family. Bless my teachers for teaching me Your Word. I
believe your love is flowing through me to other people. Help me to obey
my parents so things will go well with me and I will live a long life on the
earth. I will tell how great You are and how much I love You. I thank You
that by Jesus stripes I am healed.
In Jesus name, Amen

He must increase, and I must decrease.

John 3:30
My flesh finds no glory in Your Presence, but I glory in my salvation which You
provided for me through the death and the resurrection of Your Son, Jesus.
I Corinthians 1:29
I cannot see Your face, for no man can see You and live, but by Your grace, I repent
and come into Your presence.
Exodus 33:20

The more we give up having our own way the more of Gods Presence
we will feel in our lives.

John 3:30, He must increase, but I must decrease.

When we are saved we get all of His Spirit, Holy Spirit. So can the
Holy Spirit become bigger in us? Yes, as we spend time with God in
prayer and worship we become more aware of His Presence in our
lives. We remind ourselves every day of His power working in us
when we take time to pray, worship and read the Bible. This is how
we prepare to serve Him each day. As we look to God to lead us
throughout the day we begin to see and hear His thought on the
things we are doing. Jesus is holy which means that there is no sin
in Him. He will never lead you to do sinful things. Of course you
have to choose to obey His leading. Jesus is holy and sin is not holy.
Thats why the more you follow Him the more He increases and sin
decreases in your life.
Jonah was a man who lived in Israel in Bible days. He loved God, but
he had a sin problem called pride. He knew that he was living a
better life than the people God was telling him to witness to in the
wicked city of Nineveh. Also, the people of Ninevah were enemies
of Gods children. Jonah may have been afraid that he could get hurt
if he told them the message God had given him for them. Most of all,
Jonah just didnt think they deserved to be forgiven for their sinful
lives. In other words, Jonah felt he was better than them and his
attitude kept him from obeying God. Clearly, Jonah didnt
understand the great love God has for all people. God used a fish
to teach Jonah that his disobedience and prideful attitude were
wrong. Finally, Jonah repented and did what God told him to do. He
preached to the people of Nineveh and the whole city was saved.
Jonah decreased and God increased in Jonahs life and the people of
Nineveh.
