theytookspecialnoticeoftheurbansurroundingsandprotectedmonumentsin

Withalargeprogram,wedecidetoremovetheoldbuildingandintegrateanew
one.Ourbuildingslowlystartstogetinthedesiredshape.Ourroomprogram
developmentbeginsalreadythroughintegrationwithsurroundingstreetsofthe

MuseumQuarter.WedecidedtoplacetheFoyerbetweenthetwobuilding
massescreatingaspatialconnectionbetweenthem.

Museumsshouldntonlyserveasanattractionfortourists.BypushingtheFoyer
down,wecreatearampwhichleadsthepeopletotheroofofthebuilding.
TherebyapossibilityismadeforthepeopleofRegensburg

cityinanewandexcitingway.Themainexhibitionareaisadaptedbydividingiti
twosectionswhicharepulledup.Firstone,theBayerischeHimmel(Bavarian
Sky),toprovidebetterviewoftheCathedralandDanube.Thesecondoneisto
fulfilltheroomprogramrequirementsandprovideaplacefordeliveries.
itsattractivelocation,theMuseumwouldbecomeanewpointofinterestforthe
tourtistswalkingalongtheDanuberiver.Forthecitizensof
buildingbecomesainteractivepartofthecity.Exploringanddiscoveringthecity
getsawholenewdimensionwhichcontinuesevenontheMuseumrooftop.

Withitsrampsandslopestheroofprovidesaplaceforvariouseventsranging
formcinemaprojectionstotheater.Canyouimaginewatchingaplayhappening

ontheroofofthebuildingwiththeCathedralandtheSalzstadlasbackground?A
dreamlikescene.TheBavarianSkypresentsaclimaxofeachvisit.It

guaranteesthebestviewoftheSalzstadlaswellastheSteinerneBridgeandthe
Cathedral.

Theconstructionisbasedonasteeltrusssystemwhichenablestheformto

functionwithoutdeformation.Theconstructionismadeaccordingtothelawsand
standards.Thecreativitycontinuesintheexterior.Thefacadeiscontrolledbya
computerandservesasamultifunctionalscreenprovidingentertainmentand
information.Thefacadescreeningcouldbetemporarybutcanalsobeadjusted
accordingtotheeventshappeninginthecityorbuilding.Butevenwithout
screeningthefaade,itprovidesapleasantattraction.Itcouldbeanicesurprise

forthetouristswalkingalongtheriversidetodiscoverthemultimediafacadeofth
museum.

Thepossibilitiesareendless.Variouscombinationsarepossible,frominteraction
withthecurrentexhibitiontoprovidingdaytodayinformationforthecitizensof
Regensburg.

Thefacadeservesasareflectivesurfaceforthesun,asmuseumsdontneed
anydirectsunlight.Onlythetwoelevatedendsareopenandtheyusesun
shadingsystemtoreducedirectlight.Theexhibitionspacedistinguishes
themselveswithnaturalventilation.Usingthechimneyeffectthehotairgoes
upwardsandexitsthebuilding.Acooledceilingisusedforregulatingtheroom
temperatureandkeepingtheairfresh.Also,basinsserveasairhumidifiers.
