OPP Post-Secondary Services

For Post-Secondary Focused Youth Development Specialists


These prescribed services have been identified as the necessary in order to facilitate successful post-secondary transitioning
for in-school youth/students. Post-Secondary leadership will oversee the delivery of these services to each of the
youth/students that have/will be assigned to this track.
Note: This document should be accompanied the Post-Secondary Service Delivery Grids. These Post-Secondary Service
Delivery Grids provide service delivery specific actions.

9th Graders

Credit Alignment (# of Years in Each Subject Area).

Continuous review of Harrington O'Shea (CDM) to assess alignment between grades and career aspirations.

Discuss college and career options with YDS. Ensure that high completion and future plans are discussed.

Extra-Curricular Activities.

College Awareness Workshops.

Summer Employment (Enrichment/Exploratory).

Parental Engagement.

10th Graders

Credit Alignment (# of Years in Each Subject Area).

Start Getting Ready For ACT/SAT.

11th Graders

Make Early College Decision Preparations.

Make Personal College Visits.

Complete The Supplemental Financial Aid Form (CSS Profile).

Start Requesting Recommendations.

Application, Essay Review.

Final Opportunity to Register For ACT/SAT.

FAFSA Completion.

Reminders Regarding January & February College Application Deadlines.

Ensure That All Transcripts Are Being Forwarded To All Priority List Colleges.

Parental Deadlines (File Income Taxes & Begin Completing FAFSA Forms. Mail Them.

Finish Any Pending Applications. Even Those with Later Deadlines.

Follow-Up by Phone/On-Line the Status of Any Submitted Applications If Notification Has Not Been Received.

Summer Employment (Enrichment/Exploratory).

Compare Financial Aid Offers & Contact Financial Aid Offices With Any Question Regarding Awards.

Follow-Up If The Student Was Placed On Any Waiting List & Return Any Wait-List Cards.

Sending in Any Required Deposits before May 1st deadline.

Notify Schools That Weren't Chosen & If Student Not Interested & A Offer Was Made.

Ensure That Student Takes Any Needed AP Exams.

Confirm Freshman Orientation Dates & Ensure Course Registration.

Consider Summer Courses & Bridge Program.

Confirm That High School Has Forwarded A Final Transcript To The College.
