M.Tech Project - A robust algorithm for text detection in complicated background images

Platform - Matlab

Description - In this project, a new algorithm is to be proposed to detect texts of varying orientations under
different kinds of backgrounds. The proposed method explore a new idea of classifying low contrast and high
contrast images in order to detect accurate boundary of the text lines in videos, scene & text images. Experiments
are conducted using video images, wall images etc. taken from mobile camera or digital camera, containing both
graphic text and scene text with different fonts, sizes, languages, orientations & backgrounds

B.E. Project - Blind navigation and safety with GSM modem

Platform - Microcontroller (Embedded C)

Description - We presented requirements, design and implementation of an equipment that can be utilized by
blind and visually impaired users via a wearable system consisting of an IR LED and photodiode arrangement in a
cane while walking outside and a ANDROID cell phone which has a feature of text to voice conversion. This
removes the barriers for the blind user to fully integrate into their environment. Text-to-Speech and voice
recognition can play a significant role in interacting with technology. GSM provides an efficient communication
to the Android mobile by using a particular SIM
