Our business idea is based on using the waste from poultry farms in order to

create organic fertilizers. So basically the idea is to add value to waste in order
to create a product with economic and social value that can help satisfy the
growing demand of fertilizers in the region and worldwide. We think this is a
good business idea because the poultry farm industry generates a great
amount of waste which is still rich in nutrients that can be transformed
relatively easy to fertilizers with monetary value. Finally we know that fertilizer
production in Mexico is relatively low and the market demand is satisfied with
importation.
Hypothesis
Based on this we assume that:

Organic fertilizer production using poultry farm waste is a good business

opportunity because it adds value waste and has a competitive edge
against conventional fertilizers

The analysis of the global and local market will give us a better
understanding of the tendencies and will help us place the project.

There is a global tendency to reduce change consumption and start

adding value to waste

Global tendencies
As we mentioned earlier given the product we are trying to develop, we think it
is important to understand the global market and tendencies that will help us
forecast how our product will be conceived by the people in future years.
Based on this we think that there are certain global tendencies that will affect
the fertilizer market:

Change in the definition of competitive company.- Although innovation

continues to be really important, now there is an emphasis in efficiency,
being able to make more with less and to add value to waste.
Unstable world.- We are living in a globalized world so any change in
other countries can have a huge economical and sociological impact in
our market.
Multinational Corporations.- Because we live in a globalized world and
the type of products we are trying to develop we will have competition
with big agribusiness specially from the US. It is important to mention
that because we have an organic product there is a competitive edge.
Ecological Awareness.- The fare trade and ecological markets are
growing rapidly because of the growing ecological awareness. This gives
the organic fertilizer a huge growth opportunity in front of chemical
fertilizers.
Change in the government roll.- The governments world wild are tending
to privatize all industries and only serve as regulators. This is a huge

growth opportunity because it opens the possibility to recollect and

create fertilizer from all organic waste produced in the city.
Agriculture.- with the growing population and the reduction in fertile
lands there is a growing concern in agriculture and how to feed future
generations. Because of this there are programs to promote projects like
the one we are trying to develop.

Based on all this tendencies we can assume that the organic fertilizer good
business opportunity that is growing rapidly and is supposed to continue like
this for several years.

As we can see in this map the demand for fertilizer in the world really big and it
is basically distributed in America and Europe. Never the less the fertilizer
Market in North America and Europe are not expected to have a considerable
growth in future years, but in Latin America and the Caribbean the demand of
fertilizer is expected to grow in:

17.6% in Nitrogen fertilizers

25.1% in phosphate fertilizers
24.3% in potassium fertilizers

As you can see in this graph the fertilizer and food values are closely related.
The fertilizer value is always below the food value, this makes sense because
the fertilizer is only the input in order to be able to grow the food. As you see
in the graph in both markets the prices have been lowering since 2001 until
2014 and according to the international monetary fund this tendency is
expected to continue during future years. This obviously presents a challenge
for the industry.
Supply and demand Forecast
In America there is an excess in the production of potassium and the potential
balance (defined as the total supply- the total demand) of fertilizers with
potassium is expected to be positive during future years, this means there will
be more supply of potassium than demand in this market. Never the less the
potential balance for fertilizer contending Nitrogen and phosphorus is expected
to decrees in future years. This means that to total demand will be more than
the possible supply so the region will depend on imports.

This graph shows us that the total production of fertilizers in the country has
reduced radically during previous years while the total demand of these
products in the country has been relatively stable. Because of this the amount
of product imported into the country has increased radically during the period
of 1990 to 2007 and this tendency is expected to continue until 2018. This
means that there is a huge demand in the country that cannot be satisfied. We

think this is a good thing because it means that the product we are trying to
develop would be sold easily assuming a good marketing strategy.

This graph shows more or less the same data as the previous one where the
blow line is the total demand of the fertilizer as a percentage of the total supply
while the red line is the total consumption of fertilizer for every hectare of
arable land in the country. As you can see the blue line moves in an average of
300% in recent years this means that the demand of fertilizer is almost 3 times
more than production in the country.

Base on this data we were able to create this demand and supply curves that
intersect in 454.13 dollars per ton of fertilizers. Based on this we were able to
estimate the sell price of our fertilizer in $7.8 pesos per kg.
Approximate investment.
By making a quick analysis of the cost to produce and commercialize the
fertilizer based on poultry farm waste we came with an estimated total
investment of approximately 2 million pesos (1,964,197 pesos exactly).

obtained from the supply and demand curves and assuming that we want to
recover our investment in 5 years. We need to produce a total of 251.81
tons/year. This estimated production is based assuming that:

Nuestra idea de negocio se basa en el uso de los residuos de las granjas de
aves de corral con el fin de crear abonos orgnicos. As que bsicamente la
idea es agregar valor a los residuos con el fin de crear un producto con valor
econmico y social que pueden ayudar a satisfacer la creciente demanda de
fertilizantes en la regin y en todo el mundo. Creemos que esta es una buena

Como hemos mencionado anteriormente dieron el producto que estamos
tratando de desarrollar, creemos que es importante entender el mercado
mundial y las tendencias que nos ayudar a pronosticar cmo nuestro producto
ser concebido por las personas en los prximos aos. En base a esto,
pensamos que hay ciertas tendencias globales que afectan el mercado de
fertilizantes:

 Cambio en la definicin de empresa competitiva .- Aunque la innovacin

sigue siendo muy importante, ahora hay un nfasis en la eficiencia, ser capaz
de hacer ms con menos y para agregar valor a los residuos.
mundo inestable .- Estamos viviendo en un mundo globalizado por lo que
cualquier cambio en otros pases puede tener un enorme impacto econmico y
sociolgico en nuestro mercado.
Corporaciones Multinacionales .- Debido a que vivimos en un mundo
globalizado y el tipo de productos que estamos tratando de desarrollar
tendremos competencia con gran agroindustria especialmente de los EE.UU..
Es importante mencionar que debido a que tenemos un producto orgnico no
es una ventaja competitiva.
Conciencia Ecolgica .- El comercio tarifa y mercados ecolgicos estn
creciendo rpidamente debido a la creciente conciencia ecolgica. Esto le da al
fertilizante orgnico una enorme oportunidad de crecimiento frente a los
fertilizantes qumicos.
Cambio en el rollo de gobierno .- El salvaje gobiernos mundo se tiende a
privatizar todas las industrias y slo sirven como reguladores. Esta es una gran
oportunidad de crecimiento, ya que abre la posibilidad de recordar y crear
fertilizante de todos los residuos orgnicos producidos en la ciudad.
Agricultura .- con el crecimiento de la poblacin y la reduccin de las tierras
frtiles existe una preocupacin cada vez mayor en la agricultura y la forma de
alimentar a las generaciones futuras. Debido a esto, hay programas para
promover proyectos como el que estamos tratando de desarrollar.
En base a todo esto las tendencias que podemos asumir que el fertilizante
orgnico buena oportunidad de negocio que est creciendo rpidamente y se
supone que siga as durante varios aos.

Como podemos ver en este mapa la demanda de fertilizantes en el mundo muy
grande y que es bsicamente distribuido en Amrica y Europa. No se espera
Nunca menos el mercado de fertilizantes en Amrica del Norte y Europa para
tener un crecimiento considerable en los prximos aos, pero en Amrica
Latina y el Caribe se espera que la demanda de fertilizantes para crecer en:

Como se puede ver en este grfico los valores de los fertilizantes y de los
alimentos estn estrechamente relacionados. El valor fertilizante es siempre
por debajo del valor de los alimentos, esto tiene sentido porque el fertilizante
es slo la entrada con el fin de ser capaz de crecer la comida. Como se puede

ver en el grfico en ambos mercados los precios han estado bajando desde el
ao 2001 hasta el ao 2014 y de acuerdo con el Fondo Monetario Internacional
se espera que esta tendencia contine durante los prximos aos. Esto
presenta obviamente un desafo para la industria.
Oferta y demanda Pronstico
En Estados Unidos hay un exceso en la produccin de potasio y el equilibrio de
potencial (definida como la alimentacin- total de la demanda total) de los
fertilizantes con potasio se espera que sea positivo durante los prximos aos,
esto significa que habr ms oferta de potasio que la demanda en este
mercado. Nunca se espera que el menos el saldo potencial de fertilizantes
contendientes nitrgeno y fsforo a los decretos en los prximos aos. Esto
significa que la demanda total ser de ms de la posible suministro para la
regin depender de las importaciones.

Este grfico nos muestra que la produccin total de fertilizantes en el pas ha
reducido radicalmente durante los aos anteriores, mientras que la demanda
total de estos productos en el pas se ha mantenido relativamente estable.
Debido a esto la cantidad de producto importado en el pas ha aumentado
radicalmente durante el perodo de 1990-2007 y se espera que esta tendencia
contine hasta 2018. Esto significa que hay una gran demanda en el pas que
no puede ser satisfecha. Creemos que esta es una buena cosa, ya que significa
que el producto que estamos tratando de desarrollar sera vendido asumir
fcilmente una buena estrategia de marketing.

Este grfico muestra ms o menos los mismos datos que la anterior, donde la
lnea de golpe es la demanda total del fertilizante como un porcentaje de la
oferta total, mientras que la lnea roja es el consumo total de fertilizantes por
cada hectrea de tierra cultivable en el pas . Como se puede ver la lnea azul
se mueve en un promedio de 300% en los ltimos aos, esto significa que la
demanda de fertilizantes es casi 3 veces ms que la produccin en el pas.

Base en estos datos hemos sido capaces de crear esta oferta y la demanda
curvas que se cruzan en 454,13 dlares por tonelada de fertilizantes. Con base
en esta pudimos estimar el precio de venta de nuestra fertilizantes en $ 7.8
pesos por kg.

Inversin aproximada.

Al hacer un rpido anlisis del costo de producir y comercializar el fertilizante

basado en residuos granja avcola que vinimos con una inversin total
estimada de aproximadamente 2 millones de pesos (1,964,197 pesos
exactamente).
Ultima deapositiva
Sobre la base de esta inversin inicial y el precio de 7,8 pesos / kg de
fertilizantes obtenidos a partir de las curvas de oferta y demanda y suponiendo
que queremos recuperar nuestra inversin en 5 aos. Tenemos que producir un
total de 251.81 toneladas / ao. Esta produccin estimada se basa el supuesto
de que:
o vamos a ser capaces de producir y vender 251.82 ton / ao
