Preamble
Respected users, sincerely thank you for the use of ZKS products. Please read the manual, understand the basic
structure, performance and function of the device and learn about installation, using, maintenance and management
of the device.
ZKS-T2 device has adopted the most advanced fingerprint technology identification, convenient number keyboard,
patented design, and a unique wall hanging structure. It is flexible with various identification modes, such as
fingerprint, password, card (optional), fingerprint + password etc.
T2 device communicate with its software through TCP/IP, USB, and RS485. Its software realizes complex time
attendance and access control. T2 can storage 3000 fingerprint templates, and 80000 transaction records. Each
user can register maximum 10 fingerprints. Besides English, you can also set different languages for the menu such
as Espanol, Turkish, SCHN, TCHN etc. With its fast recognition rate, high reliability, long life, large storage capacity,
high precision clock, and reasonable structure, it is widely applied in factory, office, bank, hotel, school and so on.

such as direct and strong exposure of sunlight.

Clean device with soft cloth, avoid using liquid like cleanser, mist spray, etc

Avoid strike or scratch by sharp or heavy objects.

Contact with manufacture if malfunction happens. Please do not repair device by yourself, which may
cause permanent damage.

1.4 Work Principle


1.4.1 Fingerprint T&A
Fingerprint sensor reads human fingerprint and makes it into corresponding encrypt documents stored in device.
When verifying, sensor will compare it with the registered fingerprint. It verifies successfully if fingerprints are
accordant. It can not identify in some situations, such as, too dry, too wet, too dirty, bruised skin and so on (see
pictures below). So its better to register backup fingerprints. The thumb, index finger and middle finger are
recommended. Each user can register maximum ten fingerprints.

After putting fingers on the sensor, the fingerprint information and verifying time are recorded into device and can
be transmitted to computer by appropriate connection, such as, TCP/IP or RS485. Attendance logs can be checked
in device or downloaded as excel sheet.
Note: User should put his/her finger in correct posture to register fingerprint. Refer to the following picture:

1.4.2 T&A with Card Reader (optional)


Card reader is a kind of storage equipment which can record digital information of card. It can connect to external
equipments like E-lock, door switch, etc.
Card reader can only identify specific cards which have been registered in device. When swiping card, the
information of the card will be identified and stored in device. Check records directly in device or connect device with
computer by TCP/IP or RS485 to check identification records in software.
Response distance of card identification varies according to swiping postures. 2.5-5 cm is the most suitable
distance. The best posture is keeping card parallel with the keypad. And keep it in induction zone until card reader
identify successfully.
Note: Please do not slap device when swiping cards.

2.2 Network
2.2.1 RS485 Communication
Its able to connect the device with PC by RS485 and realize data transmission.
Power supply: DC 9V, 1A / DC12V, 2A (AC110V-220V15% 50-60Hz)

2.2.2 TCP/IP Communication


Beside RS485, TCP/IP communication is another option to transmit data between device and PC.

(2) Set communication parameters in device, such as device No, IP address etc.MenuAdvanced
SettingCOMMUNI
(3) Set communication parameters of software: Enter into the main interface of software; click Connection
Append; input communication parameters in software according to parameters set in device and click save. Then
click Test Connection and Checking. After successful connection, a dialogue box will appear, click OK to enter
into fingerprint management interface. You can transfer fingerprint information or view attendance records.
Note: One computer can connect to maximum 255 terminals (See the picture below).

Chapter 3 Menu Function


Connect the device to power and press the switch button to startup. Press the key MENU to enter WELCOME
interface. There are following two options:
1. MENU is for entering menu operation.
2. Preview UREC is for users to view their own verification records. (Once an administrator is registered, general
users have no right to check records through menu operation but they can use this option.)
Select MENU and press key OK to enter into 6 submenus interface: Enroll, USB, G.SET, ACCESS,
ATTENDANCE,LOG/DATA, press and to select. (See the picture below)

3.1 Enroll
Enrollis mainly to register users, administrators, and delete enrolled user information. There are 6 options:
User, S. Admin, E. Admin, V. Admin, Name Input, Delete. (See the picture below)

To avoid casually changing of menu settings by general users, you can register administrators. Thus, admin
verification is required each time when entering the menu, so that general users have no right to enter menu settings.
You can register maximum 10 administrators, including following 3 kinds:
1. Super admin has privilege of all menu settings.
2. E. Admin can only register and delete general users.
3. V. admin can only view registered information, logs and device information.

3.1.1 User
To register general user, select Enroll >User; two modes are available: New Enroll and Backup Enroll. (See
the picture below)

Both modes include registration of Finger, Password, Card, Finger + Password, Finger + Card, Duress F.
In New Enroll, each user is registered with one exclusive ID No and one piece of verification information
(Finger + Password, Finger + Card include two pieces). To add more registration for the same user, you need to
register in Backup Enroll with his/her ID No.
Each user can register maximum 10 fingerprints, 1 password and 1card.

3.1.1.1New Enroll
Finger
Press MENU button to enter Menu>Enroll>User>New Enroll>Finger, it shows as follows:

(Note: Cursor blink means editing state. Input numbers or select by pressing key or. Default ID number is
00000001)
Input ID number and click OK to continue as follows:

Press finger correctly and move away after scanning successfully, then follow the hint to press the same finger for
the second and the third time. If the registration is successful, it shows as follows:

Select OK to register with a new ID number or ESC to exit.


NoteFinger pressing should be valid and corresponding for 3 times; otherwise it will hint Please enroll again.
One finger can only be registered once. If the finger has been registered before, it will hint Finger Double.

Password
Select UserNew EnrollPassword, input ID number and select OK, it shows as follows:

Input password and confirm it for the second time, then select OK to save it. If registration is successful, it will hint
whether to continue or not. Select OK to register a new password with a new ID, or ESC to exit.
Note: One ID can only register one password; otherwise it hints Enroll Error.

Card
Select UserNew EnrollCard, input ID number and select OK, it shows as follows:

Punch card in induction area. The card number will appear on screen if scanning is done. The system will save it
automatically and hint whether to continue or not. Select OK to register a new card with a new ID, or ESC to exit.

F+P
Select UserNew EnrollF+P, input ID number and select OK to continue.
Firstly, register fingerprint as introduced inFinger. Then register password as introduced in Password;Save
it at last and it will hint whether to continue or not. Select OK to register new information with a new ID, or ESC to
exit.

F+C
Firstly, register fingerprint as introduced inFinger. Then register card as introduced in Card. Save it at last
and it will hint whether to continue or not. Select OK to register new information with a new ID, or ESC to exit.
NoteF+P and F+C are more convenient for some situations. For example, if you need to register both
fingerprint and password for a user, you can select F+P in New Enroll. There is no need to register finger in New
Enroll, then register backup password in Backup.

Duress F
Duress F is for security use. If user is forced to open door, he/she can verify by the registered Duress
Fingerprint. The device will hint verify successfully and send signal secretly to remote alarm system for help.
(Refer to 3.3.6G.SET>Duress F setting for more settings)
Select UserNew EnrollDuress F; enrolling step is the same as register Finger.
Each user can register maximum 9 normal fingerprints and 1 duress fingerprint. The default duress fingerprint No
is 9. For example: Duress fingerprint No of 00000001 is 00000001-9.

3.1.1.2BACKUP
Enroll backup registration for an existed ID
Select UserBACKUP; the step is the same as New Enroll
Note: New Enroll should be completed before Backup.

3.1.2 S. Admin
Once an admin is registered, admin verification is required each time to enter menu settings. Super admin has
privilege of all menu settings. You can register 10 administrators at most, including S. Admin, E. Admin and V. Admin.
At least one Super Admin should be registered before registering E. Admin and V. Admin.
Enter MENU, select Enroll>S. Admin. Registering modes, options and steps are the same as general users
registration. (3.1.1 User)

Note: Its better for management to register more admins. Please keep admin verification information firmly. If the
information is lost, please contact with manufacturer as soon as possible.

3.1.3 E. Admin
E. admin can operate following menu settings:

Enter MENU through super admin identification first, select Enroll >E. Admin. Registering modes, options and
steps are the same as general users registration. (3.1.1 User)

3.1.4 V. Admin
V. admin can operate following menu settings:
1. LOG: check user's Logs and administrator's LogsRefer to the following 3.6.1LOG/DATA>LOG Check for
details
2. System DATA: view registration information, admin log count and user log count, etc.Refer to the following
3.6.1LOG/DATA>System DATA for details
3. Device DATA: check device serial No, made date, firmware version, FP count, etc.Refer to the following
3.6.1LOG/DATA>Device DATA for details
Enter MENU through super admin identification first, select Enroll >V. Admin. Registering modes, options and
steps are the same as general users registration. (3.1.1 User)

3.1.5 Name Input


Function: Add user name to make it easier to manage user information
Enter MENU, select Enroll >Name Input; it shows as follows:

Input ID No, and press


MENU to start setting

Input ID No and press key MENU to start setting. Press key MENU to select input mode from following options:
A,a,#,12,. Press OK to confirm, or ESC to exit. (Select #, input any number from 0-9 to select special
characters)

3.1.6 Delete
Function: Delete some or all of users registrations.

Enter MENU, select Enroll >Delete; input ID No and press OK to continue as follows:

OK to continue

It shows the ID No of registered information (finger, password or card), Press and to select and then press OK
to continue. It hints Sure to delete? press OK to confirm.
Note: 1. Hint No Data! means all the registered information of that ID has been deleted.
2. Delete all the other admin before super admin, otherwise it hints Last admin, delete other admin first.
3. E. Admin has no right to delete S. admin.

3.2 USB
USBincludes EXPORT and IMPORT. Insert USB before operating this menu.
USB Export can download user information, user logs, admin logs, user's daily report, monthly report, abnormal
report, device voices, etc. Exporting data in excel format makes it convenient to check records without software.
(Note: You should set timetable for user to get his/her daily report, monthly report and abnormal report.)
USB transmission can realize data exchange between devices: users registration information can be transferred
from one device to another. Voice prompts and bell in device can be downloaded for personalization and uploaded
back to device.

3.2.1 EXPORT
Enter MENU, select USB>EXPORT

3.2.1.1Ex. User Info


Function: Export a users information including basic registration information, access and attendance setting
information.
Select USB>EXPORT, it shows as follows:

Input ID number and press OK. Then it comes to:

Bind User Setting? means to bind User & Time Group Match in access control setting and User &Timetable
Match in time attendance setting. (Refer to the following 3.4.3 ACCESS >U&TG Match; 3.5.1.2
ACCESS>User &Timetable Match for details)
Select Yes to download User & Time Group Match and User &Timetable Match information along with basic
registration information (ID No, finger, password, card, and name). Select NO to download basic information only.

All user recods must be deleted before upgrading. We suggest to backup before deleting.
Select Firmware Upgrade, it hints Upgrading, please wait. When its done, device will shut down automatically.
After restarting the device, initialization is recommended to make sure that it has upgraded completely. (Since all
registration will be removed after initialization, its better to backup first)

3.3 G.SET
G. SETis mainly for basic setting of device, connection setting between device and server, log management
setting, verification accuracy setting, and security setting, etc.
It has 6 options as the following picture shows: System, COMMUNI, LOG SET, 1:1/1: N, BELL SET, DURESS
SET.

Function: setting of time, language, volume, verify mode, auto power on/ off, external bell, fire alarm input and

time point of Add or Subtract. For example, Add setting 07-01 02:00 means at 2:00 of July 1st, time changes
into 3:00 automatically.
Europe: Set time change pattern according to Europe DST. The default setting is that time length is 1 hour
shorter at the last Sunday of March and 1 hour longer at the last Sunday of October. For example: select Europe
and set Add as 02:00; at 2:00 am of the last Sunday in March, time changes into 3:00 am, the whole day is 23
hours ; if set subtract as 18:00, at 18:00 pm of the last Sunday in October, time changes into 17:00 pm, the whole
day is 25 hours.

3.3.1.8Power On Time
You can set maximum 24 time points of Power On; the device turns on automatically at the specific time set here.
Set time point and select Yes to enable it.

3.3.1.9Power Off Time


You can set maximum 24 time points of Power Off; the device turns off automatically at the specific time set here.
Set time point and select Yes to enable it.

3.3.1.10AUTO OFF
Set Auto Off time length, when the devices standby time passes this time period, the device shuts down
automatically. Value range is No, 1-255(Minute), No means not to enable this function.

3.3.1.11Dormancy Time
Set Dormancy time length, when the devices standby time passes this time period, the device enters into
dormancy status to save power; the screen and sensor area become dark. Press any key to return to operating state.

3.3.1.12Screen Savers
Select Yes to enable screen saver function.
When standby period passes 15 s, the device changes into screen saver status: screen picture changes per 3 s.

3.3.1.13External Bell
Besides the embedded bell, the device can connect to external bell through the interface at the back
BELL-/BELL+. After connection, select Yes to enable the function.

3.3.1.14Fire Alarm Input


Connect external fire alarm sensor through the interface at the back of the device(FIREINPUT, and select Yes
to enable this function. If fire occurs, the sensor sends alarm signal to device, then the device gives out alarm and
electric lock opens automatically to make it easier for escape.

3.3.1.15Integ. Acc & Att


For general Time Attendance and Access Control devices, both functions are combined as a whole and cannot be
used separately. It means when verifying, you can access in or out; at the same time, the verification is recorded as
time attendance. Its suitable for some situations, while inconvenient for some others. For example, during office
hour, user needs to access in and out many times, if all the verifications count as time attendance records, the
records will be messy and hard to manage.
The above problem doesnt exist in ZKS-T2, which can satisfy various demands. Time attendance and access
control functions can be used separately as well as combined as a whole.
Set NO to separate the two functions, namely you can access without recording time attendance or just check
time attendance but not to access.
When access only, press key 0/Access and a green lock icon appears on the right top, then verify. Door opens
and the device doesnt save any attendance records.
When checking time attendances only, verify directly without pressing any key, the device records it as time
attendance automatically and the door doesnt open.
Set Yes to integrate access control and time attendance functions, namely as you verify, the device records time
attendance and opens the door at the same time.

3.3.1.16Initialize Device
Function: Restore device to default setting.
Select the option, it shows Clear all Log/Data! Select Yes to clear all registered data, user logs, admin logs and
all settings. The device returns to default setting as it leaves factory.

3.3.2 COMMUNI.
Function: Set parameters of connection between computer and device.
Enter MENU, select G.SET>COMMUNI

3.3.2.1Device No.
If there are multi nets to be connected together, you can set them as Device No.1, Device No. 2, Device No. 3, etc
to distinguish. Device number should be different from one to another. When connected with software, device No. in
software must be the same as set here.

It is used for communication between device and software by TCP/IP. IP address in software must be the same as

3.3.2.3Subnet Mask
Subnet mask exists with an IP address. Its only role is to divide an IP address into two parts: network address
and host address. Default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0

3.3.2.4Default Gateway
Default gateway is IP address of the router which connected with the host computer in the same subnet.
Default setting is 192.168.001.001.

3.3.2.5TCP/IP Port
Its to set Port No. of device. When device is connected with PC by TCP/IP, Port No in software must be the same
as set here.
Default Port No. is 5005.

3.3.2.6Communication Key
It is to set password of connection between device and server.
Default communication key is 1111.

3.3.2.7Sever IP
Server IP is mainly used in real-time monitoring. Set servers IP address here, device will transfer data to the
background server automatically.

3.3.2.8Sever Port No
As server is multi-threading, a specific Server Port No is required to distinguish it from others when transmitting
data through TCP/IP.
Note: Server IP and Server Port No must be set to realize Online Record. Setting in device must be the same
as that in software.

3.3.2.9RS485 Communication
Communication by RS485 is available as well as TCP/IP. Select "Yes" to enable this function.

3.3.2.10Baud Rate
When connected with PC by RS232/RS485, baud rate set here must be the same as PCs. There are 5 options:
9600, 115200, 57600, 38400, and 19200. Default baud rate is 38400. Select value by pressing key or .

3.3.2.11Online Record
After successful connection between device and computer, select Yes to enable the function. Online Record in
software can be realized: after identification in device, records show almost simultaneously in software.

3.3.3 LOG SET


Function: Mainly to manage G logs and Admin Logs storage.
When spared user logs or admin logs reach the value of the setting, the device gives voice alert continually and
shows a red warning signal at the top right corner of the screen. Delete old records to release more storage space,
thus alerts will stop. (Backup before deleting is recommended)

Function: Set spared value of user log amount; when remaining user logs storage space reaches this value,
device gives alert. Value range is No, 1-80000. No means not to enable this function.
For example, 2000 means that when spared user log amount reaches 2000 (Total user logs amount reaches
78000), the device gives alert.

3.3.3.3Spare Warn For Admin Log


Function: Set spared value of admin log amount; when remaining admin logs storage space reaches this value,
device gives alert.
Value range is No, 1-1000. No means not to enable this function.
For example, 200 means that when spared admin log amount reaches 200 (Total user logs amount reaches 800),
the device gives alert.

3.3.3.4Printer
Select "Yes" to enable printer function, select "No" to disable printer function
After enable printer function, and communicate machine and printer successfully (RS485+, RS485-), you also
need to enable machine RS485 communication protocol (Reference 3.3.2.9), and change machine Baudrate
(Reference 3.3.2.10) to make sure that machine can connect with printer successfully. Generally printer Baudrate is
always as 9600 or 19200.

3.3.3.5Delete Users' Log


Select it, device hints Sure to delete?. Yes to delete all users verification logs.

1:1 Safety SET menu is to set accuracy degree of 1:1 verify. Value range is 1-5. Higher value means higher
accuracy degree of verification.

3.3.4.21:N Safety SET


1: N means to verify directly and device searches all registered information for comparison. N stands for total
amount of registered information. For example, if all registered fingerprint amount is 3000. When a user verifies in 1:
N mode by fingerprint, the device will search among all 3000 fingerprints for comparison.
1: N Safety SET menu is to set the accuracy degree of 1: N verify. Value range is 1-5. Higher value means higher
accuracy degree of verification.

3.3.5 BELL SET


Function: Set time point and length of bell.
You can set maximum 24 bells per day each week. Time delay setting range is 0-255 (Second).
Enter MENU, select G. SET > BELL SET
Select day first and press OK to continue to set time point and bell delay. When setting is done, press ESC to
save.

3.3.6 DURESS SET


"DURESS" means sending alarm secretly if user is forced to open door. It is one of the most important functions of
access control system. The device can connect to remote alarm system through the interface at the back
DURESSOUTPUT. If user is forced to open door, he/she can verify by registered duress fingerprint. The device
hints verify successfully, and send alarm secretly to remote alarm system for help.
Enter MENU, select G. SET > DURESS SET. There are two settings: Open Door and Give a Alarm

3.3.6.1Open Door
Select Yes, door opens after verifying a duress fingerprint successfully.
Select No, device hints verify successfully but door doesnt open.

3.3.6.2Give a Alarm
Select Yes, device sends alarm to remote alarm system after verifying a duress fingerprint successfully.
Select NO, it doesnt send alarm.
NoteDismantle Proof Alarm
Device can connect to external alarm through the interface at the backALARM-/ALARM+.If sabotage and
dismantle happen, dismantle proof key at the back of device bounces automatically and device sends signal to
external alarm for alert.

3.4 ACCESS
Function: Set permitted time period of opening door; set combined unlock group; manage electric lock setting;
lock delay setting, check door state setting.
Set permitted unlock time period: (1) Set time zone. There are maximum 50 time zones for setting. In every
time zone, you can set one period for each day of a week. (2) Bind time group with different time zones. Each time
group can bind with maximum 6 time zones. (3) Bind user with time group. A user can have maximum 6 time periods
per day to unlock door.

Set combined unlock groups: (1) Arrange users to different groups. You can set maximum 30 groups (Group 1,
Group 2Group30). (2) Set amount of users required to verify together to unlock door. Value range of this setting is
0-5. For example, 5 means it requires 5 users verify together to unlock door, and 5 users must belong to 5 different
groups.

3.4.1 TIME ZONE


Enter MENU, select ACCESS > TIME ZONE
You can set maximum 50 time zones. In each time zone, you can set one period for each day of a week.
Operating interface is as follows.

First, select a time zone and press OK; then select the day and press OK to continue to set time period. When
setting is done, then press ESC, it hints Sure to save? select Yes to save. (00:00-00:00 means its unable to open
door all day, 00:00-23:59 means door can be open all day. Default setting of Time Zone 1 is 00:00-23:59 each day.)

3.4.2 TIME GROUP


(1) Bind Time Group with different Time Zones. You can set maximum 30 time groups; each time group can bind
with maximum 6 time zones.

Function: Bind user with a Time Group and a User Group.

For example, 10 means door keeps open for 10 seconds after its unlock; then it closes automatically.

Weigand is used for setting of external card reader when necessary.
It has 2 options: 26 and 34, which are types of external card reader.

Select this option, and set NO-Time Group value. The value range is 0-30. For example, set 3 as NO-Time
Group; it means lock keeps open during all the time zones of Time Group 3.
Note: Refer to 3.4.2 TIME GROUP for time group setting.

3.4.4.5NC-Time Group
Function: Set lock keeping closed during specific time periods. Door keeps closed and cannot be open by
verifying in device. You can use exit button to open door.
Select this option and set value. The value range is 0-30. For example, set 4 as NC-Time Group; it means lock
keeps closed during all the time zones of Time Group 4. (Refer to 3.4.2 TIME GROUP for time group setting.)
Note: 1. This setting does not interfere with Auto Open Lock function in Fire Alarm Input setting, namely lock
will open automatically if fire occurs and fire alarm sensor sends signal to device. Refer to 3.3.1.14 Fire Alarm Input

3.5.5.1Timetable
Total 3 timetables are available to set. See the following picture:

Select timetable 1 as an example, it shows as follows:

Here you can set valid time period of checking in and out. Begin & End Check In time and Begin & End Check
Out time all range from 0-180 (Minute). After setting, select Yes in Startup Timetable to enable it.
For example: Set timetable 1 as 8:00-17:00, Begin & End Check In time and Begin & End Check Out time as
20, it means 7:40-8:20 and 16:40-17:20 are valid time periods to check attendance.
Note: Begin Check In: 7:40, Check In time: 8:00, "End Check In": 8:20
Begin Check Out: 16:40, Check Out time: 17:00, End Check Out:17:20
If you havent check in or check out during valid time attendance period, it is absent.
If you check in during the period between Check In and End Check In, it is late. (8:00-8:20)
If you check out during the period between Begin Check Out and Check Out, it is leave early.
(16:40-17:00)

Select Yes to enable timetable. After setting, press OK and it shows Continue to set? Yes is to enter into next
users timetable setting. No to return to previous menu.

3.5.2 Time Period


Function: Set valid period for signing in, namely users are only allowed to check attendance during valid Time
Period. Checking attendance out of this period is rejected by device. It can be used to avoid casually changing of
shifts, such as in the case of three-shifts per day.
For example, a company has 3 attendance Timetables everyday: 00:00-08:00, 08:00-16:00 and 16:00-24:00.
Staff takes 3 shifts one after another week by week, namely taking one shift for a week and change to another next
week. Its valid to check time attendance in any of 3 Timetables. To avoid staff changing shifts by themselves, you
can set valid period for signing in. Take shift 08:00-16:00 for example: the Begin & End check in time and Begin &
End check out time are all 30 minutes; you can restrict users in this shift by setting valid Time Period for signing in
as 07:30-16:30. Thus user can only check attendance during this period, otherwise verifying is rejected.
Enter MENU, select ATTENDANCE > Time Period. Total 3 Time Periods are available to set (Time Period 1,
Time Period 2 and Time Period 3). Select Time Period 1 for example, it shows as follows:

You can set maximum 24 time ranges for each Time Period, and bind each user with one Time Period, namely
each user can bind with at most 24 different valid periods for signing in per day.
Note: 00:00-00:00 means the whole day is invalid for signing in. 00:00-23:59 means the whole day is valid for
signing in. Default setting is that all users are bound with Time Period 1 (00:00-23:59), namely all users are
allowed to check attendance all day.

3.5.3 Holiday

Setting holiday is better for attendance management. User doesnt need to verify on holidays and attendance
record is normal but not absent. You can set maximum 40 holidays.

3.6 LOG/DATA
It has 3 settings: LOG Check, System DATA, and Device DATA.
LOG Check: check users attendance logs and administrators management logs.
System DATA: view register amount, log amount and management amount.
Device DATA: check hardware information such as serial No, Made Date etc.

3.6.1.4Check Monthly Report


Select it, input ID No, year and month and then press MENU to view each days abnormal times of this user for
this month. If a timetable has one or more than one cases of late, leave early or absent, it counts as 1 abnormal.
Maximum daily abnormal times are 3, since total 3 timetables are available for setting per day.

3.6.1.5Check Abnormal Report


Select it, input time period (year, month, day), and then press MENU to view total abnormal times of each user for
this period.

3.6.2 System Data


Enter MENU, select LOG/DATA>System DATA to view amount of registered user, admin, finger, password,
card, user logs and admin logs.
Note: Export wont change amount of user logs and admin logs. The amount changes if admin delete logs or
initialize device.

Chapter 4 Questions & Answers


FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Question 1: Are there any notes about installation and operation of fingerprint device?
Answer: The following 3 aspects should be noted:
(1) Initialize device before using to clear all lawless fingerprints or passwords that may exist.
(2) Since the installation of fingerprint device affects its future performance directly, people who install it should be
professional and meet the requirements of ZKS Company strictly. Please dont change installation requirements and
parameters optionally.
(3) Pay attention to maintenance of fingerprint device in daily operation to ensure that it is running in good condition.

Question 2: Could it still verify if Fingerprint Window is dirty?


Answer: It can work even if the Fingerprint Window is dirty. But you must pay attention to the maintenance of
device all the time, especially fingerprint window. If device is dirty, please wipe it with soft cloth and avoid using
organic solvent of viscous liquid, alcohol or oil, etc.

Answer: Our fingerprint device adopts the most advanced fingerprint module, which is processed with tough and
thick glass material with strongly wearable degree. The normal operation life can reach five years.

Question 4: Fingerprint could be copied, can copied fingerprint be used to verify?


Answer: Fingerprint picture can be copied, but the copied fingerprint picture cannot be identified by fingerprint
sensor, because ZKS fingerprint device adopts the most advanced living fingerprint identification technology and
finger sensor just verify living fingerprint.

Question 5: Is it possible that someones fingerprint is the same as mine so that he/she can verify as me?
Answer: Fingerprints vary from one person to another, so other persons fingerprints could not be the same as
yours. Even 10 fingerprints of one person are different from each other.

Question 6: What can I do if my registered finger is scratched? Can I verify freely?


Answer: If your finger is just scratched a little, it won't affect the verification of fingerprint too much. ZKS fingerprint
device adopts the automatic restoring function which is able to restore the rupture of fingerprint according to the
fingerprint structure. But it cannot restore completely if the finger is scratched seriously. So we suggest that you
register one or more backup fingerprints for exceptional circumstances. If your fingers are all injured, you can use
password or card for identification.

Question 7: Most of other fingerprint devices adopt Capacitance Fingerprint Sensor, while ZKS fingerprint device
adopts Optics Fingerprint Sensor, which is better?

Answer: Currently, technologies used for collecting fingerprint image are mainly two kinds: Optics Technology and
Capacitance Technology.
Capacitance Technology gets complete fingerprint based on chip size. Chip is expensive and its collection scope is
small. In addition, its fingerprint collection is not reliable which makes it difficult to use. Whats more, its hard to read
fingerprint if its affected by static interference, salinity of sweat, dirt or slight abrasion of finger.
While for Optics, it collects fingerprint by reflection of light. With the improvement of the primary optics
image-capturing technology, optics fingerprint collection sensor provides more reliable solution. Newest optics
fingerprint sensor adopts the imaging technology with 500 DPI, which is suitable for people aged 6-80 to verify. Its
newest optical path imaging system improves the anti-interference ability. The fingerprint sensor surface is made of
nanometer plating film which is more wearable. All the advantages with favorable price make Optics Sensor
outshine Capacitance Sensor.
