Campaign

19th September, 2015 | Lunawa and Angulana Coastal Area

Sun

is

shining

bright,

gleaming

down

the

sandy beach, glowing through the clouds. Freezing

water wets the feet and fresh up the whole
body. This blissful moment fills the heart and
stimulates

the

mind.

What

beautiful

morning? Glory of nature slowly binding with the

feelings and bring strange emotions time to time.
In such a morning number of young courageous
hearts line up around an eminent intention. The
enthusiastic young minds are vigilant on the
disturbances due to varieties of human activities
and keen on cleaning up the stuff which destroys
the true beauty of nature.
We UoM LEOs launched a beach cleaning
campaign with the collaboration of UoM nature
team and Department of Architecture on 19th of
September 2015.The coastal line from Lunawa to
Angulana is cleaned up while encouraging the
community around to protect the beach . It was a
great opportunity to young volunteers to mobilize
the habit of cleaning the shores and protecting
those throughout the life time
We were turned back with tons of harmful marine
litters in our hands and leaving the lovely beaches
as it is belongs to nature.

Do you know a reader lives a thousand lives before

he dies? Various kinds of books give rebirth to the
readers as each new book is a new beginning in
their life.

arent made of pages and words, they are made

of hopes, dreams and possibilities. We know that
library is the ideal place for a reader. So, if we can
donate one book to a library , it is worthy as it is
not for single person, it is for all library users. This
generous work was done on 10th of September
with the collaboration of Lions club of Piliyandala
and with the support of UoM Leos. Insight, the book
donation programme

helped

to

bring

new

books for library users to make it fulfill from

various types of books.
Knowledge is always free at library. So bring your
own container and fill it up

Leadership Development | 12th September, 2015 | At Gateway College, Dehiwala

WANTED
A LEADER
Every leader has a missing ingredient
Do you believe this? Many of you will think YES. So on 12th of
September, as a solution, UOM Leos introduced the latest recipe
- missing ingredients for a leader.

It was a leadership development programme. With the

support of the community service club of the Gateway College,

Dehiwala, UOM Leos were succeeded in rooting the qualities of
a leader, inside every student of Methodist High School
Moratuwa who were there.

All the noble works should have both theoreti-

cal and practical phases. As the theoretical phase, it had the

leadership and positive attitude development programme with
Leo Shehan Kumar and as the practical phase team work
building games with overall hundred students andLeo prospects.

So Gateway college students and Methodist School had

proven that for the friendship, the colour, size, shape do not really
matter as long as the motivation and guidance were given.

It is been said that leadership is not a position or a title;

it is an action or an example. So BE an example. Then one day

you will produce more leaders not followers.

TRY AND FAIL

NEVER FAIL TO TRY
Are you a person who sit around and waiting for the success and
happiness to find you? Are you sure one day they will find you and after
that you can live your life successfully and happily? Then you should be
really a lucky person. But we can find such person once in a blue moon.

So what should we do? Should we do something? Yeah.. we
should. Its because success happens not by chance. Then how can we
achieve that?

To achieve your aims and to be happy you should do many
things in your own way. Youll have to try many things out you havent
done yet. But are you confident enough to do them? If the answer is
No why is that? Mostly its because of your fear of failure.

There is no need to be afraid of failing at all, as in most cases it
might just scare you off from doing things. If you never try to do things
youll never achieve your goals.

This is because most people think that one bad chapter means
that their story is over. But the truth is ,the biggest failure you can have
in life is making the mistake of never trying at all.

So dont fail to try. Try and try again. Never give up. Accept
failure. Accepting is not expecting. You should never expect to fail. You
can be logical and accept that the possibility of failure does exist, but
you can be confident in your chance to avoid such failure, just knowing
that even if you do fail, you will get over it.

Failure becomes your end result only when you refuse to walk
any further. So once you fail you should get up and try again and
continue to do what you love.

I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I have lost
almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the
game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over
again in my life. And thats why I succeed .

Micheal Jordan accepts that all his attempts to achieve an aim
were unsuccessful. But the two things he never accept is not to have
tried at all and to remain on the ground after a failure. The fear of
failure becomes remarkable unimportant when its compared with how
painful it is to think about missed opportunities.

A failure can be really painful and extremely difficult for us to
stand up again. It knocks us down in the short run, but in the long run
it will help us to do better in the future and avoid similar mistakes we
have done.

Success and happiness are possible for anyone who is willing
to achieve it. Find it out in your way . You may even fail, welcome it.
But dont fail to try again and expect to succeed your aim. So just keep
going because in the end you will.

Report Writing Workshop | 20th September, 2015 | At University of Moratuwa

something...
You write because you have something
to say..

So what is more powerful have to or want to?
I think have to is more powerful. Then if someone wants to add a little more power to it he should
be more creative. Is this applicable for the writing.
Yes it is. Lets start like this. Its us who control the pen
and we should not allow ourselves to be controlled by
the pen. But how can find a way of controlling the pen.

So to find out this way, UoM Leos organized a report
writing work shop for their members on 20th September 2015
at the university premises. They were lucky enough to get a
valuable training with the District secretary Leo Kasun Hemala
who was the resource person of the workshop. The participants
may had thousands of struggling feelings, emotions in their
heads. Leo Kasun showed the way of getting out those feelings
out of their minds to the paper and how to add the creativity.
It is a noble thing to share good things we learnt. One day you
may have to write on anything for your sake or for others sake.
So whatever your purpose be yourself
Do not push yourself to write that do not cross your heart...
Get your word from the both bottom of your heart and
the mindthen the outcome on the paper will be perfect.
