A pplications from Indian nationals, who want to pursue a challenging career in R&D in the diversified
areas of energy, particularly in hydrocarbon (down stream), fuel cells, alternative fuels, bio-mass, bio-fuel etc are
invited for under mentioned posts. We are looking for the experienced and bright candidates who are dynamic,
self motivated, talented with adequate leadership qualities. Candidates with excellent academic record and
scientific temperament should only apply.

Indian Institute of Petroleum is a premier Institute dedicated for Research and Development in the
diversified areas of hydrocarbon, alternate fuels, fuel cells, bio-mass etc. Its motto is to achieve self sufficiency in
energy through development of sustainable energy resources by state of the art R&D and provide the
technologies at affordable price to our Industries both private and public. We also provide high level training to
related Industries people, besides giving them consultancies, technology support, feasibility report for new
process, projects etc. We are a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, an
autonomous organization under Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of India.

Eligibility criteria

Essential Qualification & Experience: - Ist class Bachelor degree in Library Science or equivalent recognized
qualification with fourteen years of relevant experience.
Desirable : Master degree in Library Science and should have completed one year computer course.
Experience in the library of reputed scientific institutions/university in supervisory capacity. Knowledge of library
software and other open source software’s for institutional’s repository management and experience in handling
e-journals, bar-coding and conservation of documents.
Job Requirement: - The selected candidate will be overall in-charge of the Institute library, which is one of the
reputed fully computerized library of the region. It has more than 35000 titles and subscribed to about 115
Journals in print and more than that for on-line access.

Essential Qualification & Experience :- Ist Class B.E/B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or equivalent; with three
years of experience OR M.E/M.Tech in Chemical Engineering or equivalent; with two years experience OR Ph.D
in Chemical Engineering.
Experience :- The applicant should have the experience in Simulation and Modeling of petroleum Refinery
Process.
(ii) Assistant Engineer (Civil), Gr.III (3), Area- ESD, No of posts: -One (UR)

Essential Qualification & Experience :- Ist Class three years full time Diploma in Civil Engineering with six
years relevant experience or B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering with three years relevant experience.
Desirable : Experience in preparation of tender documents, estimates, civil drawing using software, AutoCAD as
per CPWD norms, work supervision.
Job Requirement: - Supervision of construction and maintenance of office, residential staff quarters &
laboratory buildings, roads, water storage tanks, machinery foundations, RCC structures, water supply etc.

Essential Qualification & Experience :- Ist Class Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Technology of three
years full time duration or equivalent recognized qualification.
Desirable:- B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and relevant experience in the areas of job requirement.
Job Requirement:- Fabrication of heavy structures, vessels, heat exchanger, piping, sheet bending, welding,
machine shop operations like turning, milling, drilling, grinding, tool making etc. The person should be able to
interpret engineering drawing and he is expected to work with his own hands.
(ii) Technical Assisstant Gr.III(1), Area- ESD, No of posts: -One (UR)
Post No- 6(a)
Essential Qualification & Experience :- Ist Class three years full time Diploma in Civil Engineering or
equivalent recognized qualification.
Desirable:- B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering and experience in the areas of job requirement.
Job Requirement:- Operation, maintenance, repairs, installation of water supply & sewage disposal systems of
whole Institute including colony and Guest House. Experience in water analysis will be added advantage.
Selected person is expected to work in shift. Post is campus residential.
(iii) Technical Assisstant Gr.III(1), Area- Research & Development,

Essential Qualification & Experience :- Ist Class B Sc(Chemistry) or Ist class diploma in Chemical Engineering
of three years full time duration.
Desirable:- Candidate who have higher qualifications and experience in the areas of job requirement would be
preferred.
Job Requirement:- To assist scientists in the following areas: - (i) Petrochemicals, specialty chemicals/polymers
& green chemistry. (ii) Heavy ends bitumen, coke, Carbon materials etc. (iii) Pet coke/coal gasification, FT
synthesis, Gas to liquid. (iv) Biomass conversion to fuels and chemicals. (v) Advanced separation processes
such as adsorption, membranes, absorption & solvent extraction. (vi) Recovery/abatement of volatile organic
compounds. (vii) Characterization of petroleum products by HPLC, GC, FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM etc
(Abbreviation: Gr- Group, T.E.- Total Emolument, SC- Scheduled Castes, ST- Scheduled Tribes, OBC-
Other Backward Classes, UR- Unreserved, DD- Demand Draft PWD- Person with disabilities, OH-

General conditions/Instructions and benefits:

I. Benefits & Prospects: (a) All posts carry usual allowances i.e., DA, HRA, and Transport Allowance etc. as
admissible to Central Govt. Employees posted in Dehradun. (b) In addition to the emoluments, benefits such as
Defined Contribution Pension Scheme, Leave Travel Concession, Reimbursement of Medical expenses for self
and dependents, Conveyance Advance, House Building Advance etc. are available as per G.O.I rules, as
applicable to the employees of CSIR (c) Promotion prospects at CSIR/IIP offer excellent opportunities for career
advancement under flexible complementing scheme.

II. Relaxation: Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years in the case of SC/ST and by 3 years in the case of OBC
candidates for the posts which are reserved for the respective category. Relaxation in Upper age will be given to
PWDs candidates as per CSIR/GOI orders issued from time to time. Relaxation of upper age limit for Ex-
servicemen is admissible as per rules. Relaxation in the upper age limit of 5 years applicable for persons who
had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of J&K during the period of 01/01/1980 to
31/12/1989 subject to production of a certificate from the District Magistrate in the Kashmir Division within whose
jurisdiction he had ordinarily resided; OR from any other authority designated in this behalf by the Government of
J&K. Relaxation in age limit upto 5 years may be allowed to Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/Public
Sector Employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the CSIR/GOI from time to time in
this regard . Relaxation in age, qualification and/or experience prescribed, may be allowed by the Competent
Authority for meritorious and deserving candidates.

III. General Conditions: 1. Age and experience will be reckoned as on the last date fixed for receipt of
application form (i.e., 29.03.2010). 2. The period of experience in a discipline/area of work, where prescribed,
shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualification for that
Group/Grade. 3. Candidates applying for more than one Post No. should apply separately for each Post
No. indicating the Post Code and Post No. of the post accompanied by separate requisite DDs of Rs.100/-
each. 4. Applications not accompanied with prescribed fees and incomplete applications will be summarily
rejected. 5. Applications from the candidates working in Govt. Departments & Public Sector Undertakings will be
considered only if forwarded through proper channel and with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved
within one month of receipt of appointment order. 6. Mere fulfilling of minimum prescribed qualifications and
experience will not vest any right in a candidate for being called for interview. The Laboratory reserves the rights
to call for interview only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable and will not entertain any
correspondence in this regard. The candidates should, therefore, mention all the qualifications and experience in
the relevant field over and above the minimum prescribed qualifications. 7. Outstation candidates called for
interview will be paid to and fro single second-class rail fare/ordinary bus fare by the shortest route to the place
of interview from the Railway station/Bus Stand nearest to the candidate's normal place of residence, as per
rules. 8. All posts are identified suitable for orthopedically handicapped (One Arm and One Leg) candidates 9.
SC/ST, PWDs and regular employees of CSIR are exempted from payment of application fee.10. The number of
vacancies in each code is provisional and may vary. Director, IIP reserves right to not to fill any or all posts
advertised.

IV. How to Apply: Interested candidate should visit our website www.iip.res.in and fill up the application form
online on the link available under Job, take print out of system generated filled up application form, put
signature, paste recent passport size photograph. Completed applications in all respects, accompanied by
attested copies of certificates, testimonials in support of age, educational qualifications, experience, etc.
mentioned in the application, alongwith non-refundable application fee of Rs.100/-(US$25 in case candidate
applying from abroad) for general and OBC category candidates, by means of DD (issued by State Bank of
India only except the candidate applying from abroad) valid for at least 6 months, drawn in favour of the
“Director, IIP, Dehradun” payable at State Bank of India, Dehradun, should be sent to the Controller of
Administration, Indian Institute of Petroleum, PO- IIP, Mohkampur, Hardwar Road, Dehradun-248 005
(Uttarakhand) so as to reach on or before 29.03.2010. If any candidate faces trouble in filling up the
application form online, he/she may download the application form available on our website or the same can be
obtained from office (Reception) during the office hours, fill it up and may send completed application alogwith all
the requisite documents, DD etc as stated above.

Canvassing in any form and /or bringing in any influence political or otherwise will be treated as a disqualification
for the post. Interim enquiries will not be attended to.
