Installation manual
The FERBOX reverse bending
connector must be accurately positioned and attached on the formwork so that it cannot move:
- Nailing to the wood formwork
- Welding or bonding to the existing reinforcement
After concreting the first section,
the plastic cover and polystyrene
plugs at the ends must be removed.
Rebending the rebars using a rebending pipe (according to DBV
bulletin Rebending of reinforced
concrete and requirements of protective boxes), the internal diameter of which is only slightly larger
than the bar diameter.

Insert the pipe up to the start of the

curve and put the rebars in the correct position, by gradually bending and respective follow-up in
the direction of bending at the location of rebending.
Avoid bending backwards and
forwards!
The protective box remaining in
the joint must not be treated using
formwork release oil!

Installation on circular formwork

Depending on the formwork radius,
the cheeks of the protective box are
cut several times at equal distances on
both sides using a grinder. On request, this can be carried out by the
manufacturer at their works.
This enables the protective box to be
adapted to the circular formwork.
Important: Make sure that the internal rebars are not damaged!

Remove any excess concrete

Reinforce the next section and concrete.

Reinforcement for reliable bonding

Ferbox
Calculation in accordance with DBV bulletin

Shear force, longitudinal to the construction joint:

[R1) GI. 6.25: Rate value of the thrust loading capacity =
bearing contact areas [concrete] + [friction] + [bond reinforcement) maximum loading capacity
Thereby,

(with
and
iaw
(positive for pressure and negative for tension);
with
and
at the rebending position);
(no reduction to 0.3 VRdi.max)

a1 < 50 mm
a2 50 mm with surface
characteristics in accordance
with DIN EN 1992-1-1, 6.2.5
a1 50 mm can be considered as a2 at bi, thereby however,
only the lower surface roughness of protective boxes or construction joint for bi is to be taken into consideration. Alternatively,
the individual width of the area of the construction joint or
protective boxes with the respective surface roughness for bi
can be taken into consideration.

Joint surface
toothed
rough
smooth
very smooth
For dynamic or fatigue load, the concrete bond (adhesion) must
not be taken into consideration (c = 0).
If tension occurs due to influences at right angle to the joint, set c
= 0.
For concrete strength classes C55/67, the values with the factor
(1.1 - fck, I 500) must be multiplied by the factor fck in [Nimm].
The frictional component in GI. 6.25 can only be exploited to the
limit for very smooth joints.

Shear force transverse to the construction joint:

[R1) GI. (6.2): Shear force resistance without shear force
reinforcement with reduction through the roughness coefficient

with
and c in accordance with Table 1

[R1) GI. (6.8): Shear force resistance with shear force

reinforcement

Wall - Ceiling

Ceiling - Ceiling

and

Maximum absorbable shear force with shear force reinforcement (very smooth joint not permitted):
[R1) GI. (6.9) for 90 stirrup reinforcement, in the area of the
rebending position limited to 30 %
with
[R1) GI. (6.7aDE): Limiting of the concrete strut angle:
however, limit of 45 in the area Ie. = 0.5 . cot d both
sides of the joint:

with
with c in accordance with Table 1;
0 as tensile stress!
a2 < 50 mm with surface
roughness in accordance
with DIN EN 1992-1-1, 6.2.5
(refer to Table 1)

Notes:
The longitudinal reinforcement in GI. (6.2) taken into account
is that applied at the tension side, according to the static
system (e.g. c, d or e). Due to the difficulty in concreting, the
effective height d, reduced by a1 for a1 < 50 mm in the
pressure zone is represented in Figure d and e.

Reinforcement for reliable bonding

Ferbox
PENTABOX - Reverse bending connector for watertight working joints

Technical Information

Types and dimensions

Advantages

Standard type based on the

FERBOX type B.

PENTABOX is a FERBOX reinforcement connection in combination with

PENTAFLEX Tape and, in comparison
to conventional reverse bending connectors, provides the greatest possible
reliability against leaks around the
joints.

Special types available on request

(refer to special types Page 26-27)
For the dimensions of the protective
box and reinforcement content,
refer to Page 8.

To prevent water permeability along

the protective box, the FERBOX types
are coated on both sides with PENTAFLEX Tape at the factory. Thus, reverse
bending connectors are also produced
in this basic manner to become impervious to water.

Hydrostatically sealed
Security against water permeability by the double-sided PENTAFLEX coating
Trouble-free installation
All requirements of the reverse
bending connectors are fulfilled

PENTABOX reverse bending connectors can also be joined together by the

PENTAFLEX Tape overlapping on both
sides.

Areas of application
PENTABOX is used in all areas of
water contact. Areas of application are
wall and ceiling connections, bracket
connections for wall supports or elongated brackets, as well as light channel connections.

PENTABOX - Reverse bending connector for watertight working joints

Installation manual

The next PENTABOX must be joined flush and attached to the framework.
The
overlapping PENTAFLEX
Tape must be joined together. (Remove film and bond the tape)

Depending on the formwork radius,

the cheeks of the protective box are
cut several times at equal distances on
both sides using a grinder. On request, this can be carried out by the
manufacturer at their works.
This enables the protective box to be
adapted to the circular formwork.

10 cm

The PENTABOX reverse bending

connector must be accurately positioned and attached on the formwork so that it cannot move:
- Nailing to the wood formwork
- Riveting to the metal formwork
- Welding or bonding to the existing reinforcement

Installation on circular formwork

Important: Make sure that the interior rebars and PENTAFLEX Tape are
not damaged!

Remove the protective film of the

PENTAFLEX Tape and reinforce,
encase and concrete the first
section of wall.

Insert the pipe up to the start of the

curve and put the rebars in the correct position, by gradually bending
and respective follow-up in the direction at the location of rebending.
Avoid bending backwards and forwards!

After concreting the first section,

use a hammer to remove the plastic cover.

The protective box remaining in

the joint must not be treated using
formwork release oil!

Remove the polystyrene plugs from

the ends of the box.

Remove any excess concrete.

Rebending the rebars using a rebending pipe (according to DBV

bulletin Rebending of reinforced
concrete and requirements of protective boxes), the internal diameter of which is only slightly larger
than the bar diameter.

The overlapping PENTAFLEX

Tape must be joined together. (Remove film and bond the tape)
Remove the protective film of the
PENTAFLEX Tape and reinforce,
encase and concrete the first
section of wall.
