Standard Operating Procedures for

Aligning DSNG Antenna System.

1. INTRODUCTION:

This document is about standard operating procedure of aligning DSNG antenna


system. Operators must follow same sequence of steps which are described in this
document.

2. SUPPORT LEVEL:

If operator is facing issue regarding DSNG Antenna system then contact support
persons to resolve that issue. Support contact list is as under

3. Site Location Information


a. Consult NOC department in case of remote location or other city. NOC
Engineers will share the accurate Azimuth & Elevation values (in case of

Winegard, iNetVu, Advent (Vislink).


In case of AWIW (Local) systems NOC engineers will tell whether the required
elevation is above or below the mark

3.1. DSNG Antenna Alignment and NOC Communication


a. After reaching to desire location and parking to suitable area engineer align
dish as per training and helper will lay down audio and video cable & patch to
camera.
b. DSNG Engineer will call to NOC for carrier allocation in accordance with
reporter, but in case of Emergency asks the NOC for carrier during travelling
so that unnecessary communication delay reduces.
c. If all carrier slots are busy at NOC, communicate to Reporter about
unavailability of carrier. But if reporter insists then ask him / her to coordinate
with central assignment desk for allocation of carrier.
d. After allocation of carrier, transmit the carrier by entering frequency which is
given by NOC.
e. Cooperate with NOC in case of fine alignment of DSNG antenna system.
f. After transmitting carrier avoid unnecessary IN /OUT movement of Crew in
DSNG
g. Connect the audio video cable to Patch panel and verify the quality by
consulting NOC.
h. Follow the instructions strictly from NOC in case of Audio video issue.
i. Always monitor the audio video signal from camera .
j. DSNG helper is always with camera man along with backup patches & is
standing behind the camera in events especially in programs beepers &VIP
addresses.
k. Dont busy the cell phone unnecessary. Give first priority to attend call from
l.

NOC.
In case of heavy rain and stormy weather contact with Level 2 as mentioned
in section 3.

3.2

DSNG

Configuration

a. Engineers are fully aware for about all necessary configuration in Encoders
and receivers. Configurations includes Symbol rate, Audio Video Input, Audio
bit rate, increase/decrease power, Downlink frequencies, Beacon frequency of
desired satellite (If required), BUC and LNB Local Oscillator values & Uplink
frequencies.
b. Do not write uplink frequencies or L band frequencies in DSNGs.
