4. INDUSTRIAL PROJECT

4.1 ERP System manger

Because of the GST implementation, our company have decided to use
new system to help manage the records and financial of the company. So, they
decided to use ERP System because this system have been integrated with the
new tax implementation and it can be monitored online anyone with excess.
Ive been trained to use this system by the developer. My task is to set up
the system and make tutorial for future reference. This system can control every
section in the company as each of the section is linked to the system. Every
manager of each section will have the access only to their respective section.
15

Overall, this system consist of four main section, Accounting, Purchase,

Sales and Warehouse. After finished setting up the system, I acted as admin and
need to oversee and train each section manager how to use the system. After that,
Ive create a tutorial for the system for future reference.

Example of the system screenshot.

16

4.2 Purchasing & Receiving Stock

My other task is to purchase the goods if it is out of stock. So, when a customer
send purchase order (PO), I will check the availability of the goods. If there is none, Ill
need to contact the supplier and purchasing for new stock.

17

After that, it will also be my job to receive the goods. Ill need to prepare all the
documentation and record all of it in the ERP System. Sometimes, problem will rises.
Such as, the goods is stuck at custom because of some documentation error.

4.3 Accounting
I need to do simple accounting like bank reconciliation. Although it may be
simple, but for Mechanical Engineering student it is a bit tricky. I take it as a
challenge and hope it will give benefit for me in the future.

5. SUMMARY
As conclusion, Industrial training achieves the objective of the program which is
to expose student to actual working culture and industrial practice, to allow students to
extend their theoretical knowledge into practice thus enhancing their understanding,
motivate students to practice the right working attitudes and professionalism to increase
their employability potential and also to facilitate students to potential employers.

18

Engineering course needs skills and experience in work for the new technologies.
Extra-Built (M) Sdn.Bhd is one of the best places to start gain knowledge about the real
working area. I can state here that, we must learn from the best and experts.
As a student, practical training can improve the potential of students in
practical and also improve their knowledge in theories by exposing them to hands on the
work. This practical also can change the students mentally by associating with the elder
workers. The ethics in working area can be applied to be a great students and to be a
great employees in the future.
Besides that, I have to make decisions that involved company based on the
theory that I have learnt in class. Making the decision for the company is not an easy
task as I have to take the responsibility to the decision that I have made. Through
industrial training, I have also experience the actual career world and practice all the
necessary work ethical which allows me to become an independent person, discipline
and competitive in line with UiTM mission which is to produce graduates that are
excellence in academic and extra-curricular activities.

Even though I have faced several difficulties during my industrial training, I am

able to overcome the difficulty with the assistance of my coordinator plus with the
discussion made by the management of the company, they are able to achieve a
conclusion on the highlighted issue. As a conclusion, industrial trainings objectives
have been achieved.

19

During my Industrial Training I have gained a lot experience and knowledge.

After going through Industrial Training I understood about working life and its
atmosphere. At the same time I could feel for myself the real world of working life style.
This training also proved that only theory is not enough to survive in working world but
we must have some practical skills. I also learnt how to communicate with my superior
and my fellow colleagues.
All the problem that rises have been resolved by the help of my supervisor and
colleague. Besides, I also find the knowledge that all the lecturers have given me proven
to be useful for my training.
