Abstract
The experiment about rectilinear motion has been conducted. Objectives of this experiment
are we are can understand the different between the displacement and movement, can magnitude the
velocity and the average speed, understand the relation between displacement and time on rectilinear
motion, and the next objectives is to understand about rectilinear motion. For do it, the tools and
materials is need are meters, rectilinear motion tube, stopwtch, stativ, the write tools. On this
experiment we have to do for 2 parts, firstly we use that object to move and the next we are use
rectilinear motion tube to observace the dispacement. The speed and velocity of the data for the first
activity is same when pass on the Point A to B that equals 23.15 cm/s, then when pass on the Point AB-C the speed takes 24.61 cm/s. And the velocity is 10.14 i + 11.64 j.

Key word: Displacement, Distance , Velocity, speed, time.

Introduction
The experiment about rectilinear motion, want to know how the velociy and speed
is same and when it different. morever we want to know how the priciple the of the recliniar
motion. The theory of the rectilinear motion can be aapply on the life so that we have to
know about that.
Application of straight motion, such as the movement of a car, a person traveling etc.
that could arise equation x = x1 x2. greek letter indicates changes in the amount,
calculated by subtracting the initial value from the final value. instead was the result, but
the interval between x, if x = x1 x2. [1]
The experiment has been done in 2 activitys for the first the object are 3 friends who
has different velocity to move from the tho first Point to another point. Then for the second
activity we have to use the rectilinear tube.

Theory
A moving object when the object change the position to a reference point. Objects
will move through a trajectory with a certain length in a certain time. The total length of the
path traversed is called the displacement, while a large change in the position of the object
from the initial position to the final position is called movement. Distance is a scalar
quantity, whereas movementt is a vector quantity.
Object is said to move rectilinear motion the object is moving on a straight track and
moving at a constant speed or no speed change with time, so the acceleration is zero. Speed
is defined as the change in position at any time or in the form of written mathematical;

v =

while the speed is great displacemenr per unit time or in the form of written
mathematical

Experiment Method
Experiment about rectilinear motion need tools and material such as meteran, it used
to measure the distance between one point to another point such as from the point A to Point
B. The LSV of meteran is 0.01 cm. The next is stopwatch, it used to measure the time takes
when the obeject make a movement. The next tools rectilinear motion is ractilinear motion
tube, it used to do the second activity, it as the main tools because the bubble of the tube
becomes the object that measure the movement of that object. Then statif used to hang the
rctilinear tube. And the last is the tools of write, it used to note the result that has been takes.
The first activity of that experiment is using the friends as object to observe. For the
first we are make the square way, and make a point, each point of square, we are give point
A, B, C, D. Then we are measure the distance each point. Then we observace the object
when walked from the point A to B. We are measure the time is taken. Then it repeat for the
next object but with the different velocity. For the same step the object walked again with the
different distance like from A to B to A. Then we are measure the distance of the object by
meteran and we are measure also the movement of the object. We repeat again the step until
the displacement of the object is A to B to C to D to A.
The second activity is using a stativ and rectilinear tube, firstly we are hang the end
of rectilinear tube on the statve then we ar measure the height of the end of rectilinear tube
that hang of the statif for 5 cm from buttom. Then we are
The control variable is distance of he point,it measure by meters. the manipulation
varaible for the first activity are distance and movement. Distanc is displacement is a value
change in the position of the object from the initial position to the final position, and distance
is the total length of the path traversed objects. we measure the displacement and distance by
meters that has LSV 0.05 cm. And the respon variable is Time, that a time is take to pass a
point. It measure by stopwatch that has LSV 0.2 s.

Discussion
The experiment about the first activity we has do, to looking for a time when the
different position. We use the trajectory quadrilateral each point we give a direction A, B, C,
D. For the first with trajectory from A-B that displacement and the distance is same, so that
the velocity and the speed is same too. the velocity of the object is different, for the first
object there is not egg her footsteps, the second object it has but just a little, and for the last
object the approximately 30.00 cm demerit footsteps so that the time is taken different, for
the first object take a longest time the second and the last object take the smallest time. The
trajectory from A-B-C. The displacement and the distance is different. The distance is takes

517.00 cm, we are measure that by meters, then the displacement is 327.00. The velocity and
speed is different because the speed is measure by the distance per time takes. And the
velocity is measure by the displacement per time takes. The time is taken also different and
seems like before that principle.
The third trajectory from A-B-C-D the distance and displacement is different too. the
distance measure seems like before that by meters then the displacement just look position,
for this moment, we can get a displacement as the distance D to A. So that, the displacement
of this object is 304.00 cm. The time it takes the higher, that seems like before. For the
velocity and speed, of course it different. Then, last trajectory from A-B-C-D-A. This
moment the object beck to before position or the initial position so that the displacement it
takes 0. Then, distance of the object same as the circumference of the quadrilateral.
Displacement of the object is zero so that the velocity is zero too. the time is taken for this
moment seems like before but that height time.
The second activity is using the rectilinear tube. We observe the bubble on the tube. For
the first we set the height from the bottom is 5.00 cm then we measure the time is taken from
the zero point to A point, we are use the repeat measurement. We are use the same step like
before to measure from zero point to B, Zero Point to C then Zero point to D, the result that
the most hight time is when the longest distance it means when the zero point to D. next the
height of the tube is change to 10.00 cm then we are measure seems like before. The result
that time is taken lower than in the previous position, but for distance still same like before
the heights time when the traveled from zero point to D. Then the last position is change the
height become 15.00 cm, that time takes is lower than in the previous position. so that this
position is the lowest time.
The data is taken not too scrupulous because the LSV of stopwatch is height. And the
speed of the object changes every position, but it cant get control from the object, so
difficult to make the speed of same trip before. Based on the theory of object velocity should
be same, because of the distance and displacement of an object is different but the steps
remain the same on the fourth trip, but in our experiments is only approaching the speed of
previous.

Conclusion
The experiment about rectilinear motion, we can conclude that distnce and
displacement is different because distances are the total length of track objects, it is the sklar
quantity. Then displacement is change of position from the initial position to a position late
and is a vector quantity. The velocity can megnitude by displcement per time takes, then the
speed can magnitude by distance per time. When the distance is height the time takes is
height too. but the displacement doesnt influence of time takes. The when the height of the
tube changes the heighst time is when the height of the tube from the buttom is lowest. Then
the distance of the point giving influence too the time.
