What can I do?

Psychology

Psychology encompasses all aspects of human behaviour

using tested theoretical frameworks to examine, explain and
predict what we do as individuals and in groups. Psychology
is a degree where you may develop many transferable and
technical skills sets that are in demand from a wide range of
employers. These include:
analytical and problem solving skills
research and information sourcing skills
critical thinking, judgment and decision making skills
an appreciation of mental health issues and how this
impacts at a individual, family and community level
an understanding of developmental psychology issues
and how this affects individuals, families and communities
across the lifespan
interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills
an appreciation for diversity and a global understanding
that can bridge cultural differences
ability to use appropriate technologies such as SPSS for
research purposes
team work skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
Many of these skill and knowledge sets are seen as desirable
by employers across a number of industries. This places
psychology graduates uniquely to create their own career
path and capitalise on their strengths, interests and unique
qualities to market themselves towards employment. Taking
time to reflect on who you are and what drives you (selfawareness) may help to uncover your sense of direction and
what type of opportunity you are suited to. Remember what is
important to you in a career may change over time in light of
new experiences alongside skill and knowledge development.

Career Opportunities
