hardware; Supervised the wireless internet installation at the school through the Office of Technologys
School Based Grant; Supervised consultant Kenney and Associates to help prescribe personal tutoring
programs for all students in third to eighth grades and oversaw students log in over 68,000 minutes of
tutoring on Myskillstutor.com; Built a web page with Robinson School on the south side that allowed
students to share and exchange ideas and projects; Supervised the schools Clean and Green Project;
Presented numerous professional development workshops for teachers at my school on the open ended
approach to problem solving; Students produced the highest test scores at the school in reading and math
the last nine consecutive years of my classroom teaching experience; Served as Union Delegate for twelve
years and Local School Council Member for ten years.
Promoted to Assistant Principal in 2004 where I supervised all security staff; Developed and implemented
the school security plan; Held schools first ever Disaster Drill with the help of Chicago Police and Fire
Departments; Enforced the disciplinary provisions of the school code--including suspensions and character
development--and attended expulsion hearings; Liaison between Chicago Police, Illinois Department of
Children and Family Services, Probation Officers, parents, staff, community organizations, and the school
administration; Observed and Evaluated certificated staff; Supervised classroom substitute coverage;
Compiled internal school reports for Principal; Revised School Handbook for Teachers completely; Created
parent friendly environment with significantly improved open house and report card pick-up days;
Supervised Family Math Nights; Coordinated meaningful Assembly Programs; and established school wide
contest for pool parties, pizza parties, and the year end Parade of Bikes for outstanding student
achievement.
