4. CALCULATION

The total electrical loads are calculated based on the following formulae:

Maximum Load (Normal running load) = (Continuous x X) + (Intermittent x Y) or the largest

intermittent motor load, whichever is higher
Where coincidence factor X = 1.00 for Continuous loads
Y = 0.15 for Intermittent loads
Peak Load = (Continuous x X) + (Intermittent x Y) or the largest intermittent motor load,
whichever is higher + (standby load x Z) or largest standby load which ever is
higher
Where coincidence factor X = 1.00 for Continuous loads
Y = 0.15 for Intermittent loads
Z = 0.05 for standby loads
The coincidence factors have been considered based on ABB Electrical Load Summary report :
04184-120311-000010 ,Rev 0

HT switchboard and Power Transformers

Power Transformers TR-0101 & TR-0102 are catering to the loads of Bus A and Bus B of the 6.6 kV
Switchgear HT-0121 respectively. Incase of failure of either incomer or trouble in either transformer,
the continuous, intermittent and standby loads on other incomer/transformer are given in the table
below.

Power Transformer
As per clause no. 5.2.2 of Design Philosophy for electrical facilities (Doc. No. 6-51-0099, Rev. 4)
enclosed with bid package, the transformer sizing shall include 10% margin for future load growth.
ONAN rating of the transformer = normal running load x 10% margin for future load growth

= 24935.6 * 1.1 = 27430 MVA

ONAF rating of the transformer = Peak load x 10% margin for future load growth
= 27022 * 1.1 = 29725 MVA
Hence, ONAN/ONAF rating of the Power Transformer selected is 27 / 31.5 MVA.

5. CONCLUSION
Based on above calculations, all equipment has been adequately sized.
The following ratings of transformers are selected:
a) TR-0101 & 0102

: 33/6.9kV , 27.0 / 31.5 MVA , ONAN/ONAF

b) TR-0103,TR-0104 : 6.6/0.433 kV, 2000 kVA

c) TR-0105,TR-0106 : 6.6/0.433 kV, 2500 kVA
d) TR-0201,TR-0202 : 6.6/0.433 kV, 1600 kVA
e) TR-0203,TR-0204 : 6.6/0.433 kV, 2000 kVA
f) TR-0205,TR-0206 : 6.6/0.433 kV, 1600 kVA

Note: The transformer sizing calculation is based on overall Electrical Load Analysis Doc. Number 6556EPCC1-TEC-99-ELE-DD-0005, Rev 01. However, this will be revised based on final vendor data.
