Why do we need to open a Demat account?


In India, shares and securities are held electronically in a dematerialized (or
"Demat") account, instead of the investor taking physical possession of certificates.
A Demat account is opened by the investor while registering with an investment
broker (or sub-broker). The Demat account number is quoted for all transactions to
enable electronic settlements of trades to take place. Every shareholder will have a
Demat account for the purpose of transacting shares.

How and when can I get a demat account opened?
To facilitate employees in opening a demat account, HDFC help- desk will begin at
the following locations from Monday Onwards i.e 12th Oct 15 starting 11 am till 6
pm.
What are the documents required for opening a demat account?

It is mandatory to mention the code "L101" to avail the benefits of the


above mentioned scheme on the Trading Account opening form
IndiGo employee ID proof (copy of ID card / Visiting Card / Salary Slip)

Proof of Identity PAN Card is mandatory

Address Proof- Any one from following list

Electricity Bill

Telephone Land Line Bill

Passport

Voter Id / Aadhaar / Driving License

2 Passport size Color Photographs
