RESEARCH ELIGIBILITY TEST (RET) - 2010

1. Admission to Ph.D. Programme shall be through RESEARCH ELIGIBILITY TEST (RET). The
test shall be held on April 11, 2010 (Sunday). Those candidates whose final result of qualifying
examination is awaited, for any reason, shall be allowed to appear provisionally. Such candidates
shall have to produce the mark sheet of the final result at the time of submission of application
form for registration to Ph.D.

2 Those candidates whose Research Degree Committee (RDC) meeting was held after July 11,
2009 shall have to qualify the RET for their registration to Ph.D. degree.

3 Those candidates, who have qualified UGC/CSIR-NET/NET(JRF)/ICAR-


NET/SLET/GATE/Teacher Fellowship shall be exempted from the RET.

4 Candidates with M.Phil. degree from CCS University, Meerut provided their admission to
M.Phil. was through entrance examination/test, are also exempted from RET. Candidates whose
admission to M.Phil. course was based on merit are NOT exempted from RET. M.Phil. degree
holder of either type from other universities/ institutions are NOT exempted from RET.

5 In addition to the above, the ordinances of the University in respect of Ph.D. Programme shall
apply.

6 The Candidates shall be allowed to apply for Eligibility Test only in one subject.

7 Application form for RET will be available on-line only on the website
http://www.ccsuniversity.ac.in and can be filled only on-line from March 1, 2010 11.00 a.m. to
March 20, 2010 till 6.00 p.m.

8 Candidate should fill-up the on-line application form. After submission of application form on-
line by the candidate, Roll Number will be generated on the form itself. Please remember the
Roll Number and Password used by you while filling, the application form on-line. The hard
copy (printed copy) of the Application Form along with the following enclosures and those
mentioned in the application form be sent through Speed-Post/Registered-Post in an envelop of
the size 36 cm x 25 cm marked in bold letters ‘RET EXAMINATION-2010” at the following
address. Last date for receipt of hard copy (printed copy) of the on-line filled application form
alongwith enclosures is March 24, 2010 till 4.30 p.m. Application form will not be accepted by
hand.

(a). Attested Xerox copy of the Caste Certificate in case of reserved categories.

(b). Attested Xerox copy of the Medical Certificate issued by Civil Surgeon in case of Physically
and Visually Handicapped candidates.

9. While printing the on-line filled application form three copies of the Bank Challan will be
obtained. These challan with details of RET fee, etc. shall be used for depositing the entrance fee
(Rs. 500/- in case of General and OBC category candidates and Rs. 350/- in case of SC/ST
candidates) in any CBS branch of the Bank selected by the candidate while filling the
application form. University copy of the Bank Challan shall be enclosed with the hard copy
(printed copy) of the application form.

10. The candidate is solely responsible for his eligibility and the information, which he/she has
furnished in the application form.

11. Incomplete applications will be rejected without assigning any reason and no correspondence
will be entertained.

12. Only filling and submission of on-line application form is not sufficient and if the hard copy
(printed copy) alongwith necessary documents is not received on or before March 24, 2010 till
4.30 p.m., the registration of the candidate for RET will not be valid.

13. Admit-Cards will be downloaded by the candidates themselves from the university website
http//www.ccsuniversity.ac.in by entering the Roll Number and Password from April 5, 2010
onwards.

14. No request for changes in the information provided in the on-line application form will be
entertained.

15. The RET in each subject will consist of one paper of 2 hours duration having 100 objective
multiple choice questions (MCQ types). Each question paper will have two sections. Section (A)
consisting of 50 questions aimed at testing the general aptitude (language competency, numerical
ability and logical reasoning) of the candidate and section (B) of 50 questions aimed at testing
the ability of the candidate in the broader discipline and the concerned subject. For each incorrect
response half of the total marks allotted to the question (item) would be deducted, and no
deduction from total score will however be made if no response is indicated for an item in the
response sheet.

16. RET will be based on the questions of the graded difficulty based on the syllabi of UGC-NET,
CSIR-NET and ICAR-NET examinations.

17. The GEN/OBC/PH/VH candidates securing 50% or more marks in RET shall be considered as
having qualified RET. The percentage of marks needed to qualify the RET for SC/ST candidates
is 45% or more.
