By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Describe items related to celebrations
2. Describe celebrations that they have experienced orally
: I can be successful if I can:
1. Use adjectives to describe items to my classmates
2. Write words related to a celebration in a mind map
3. Describe orally why the words chosen are related to celebrations
4. Say 3 of their favorite things that are related to the celebrations
in simple sentences
Starter Activity (5 mins)
1. Students are put into 4 groups.
2. Students will volunteer to participate in the activity by
participating in a game called taboo.
3. Students will take turns to guess the item that is shown to them
based on oral descriptions by their group members.
Activity 1 (30 mins)
1. Students in their groups are given manila cards and writing
materials. The students are given a celebration i.e. Hari Raya,
Sports Day, Birthday, Christmas.
2. Students will brainstorm in a mind-map words that they think
are related to the celebration. Groups then take turns to explain
why they thought of those words.
Activity 2 (20 mins)
1. Students in their groups discuss about 5 things they like about
each celebration. Students have to write it down on their manila
card.
2. Groups take turns to share their favorite things about the
celebration.
Plenary Activity (10 mins)
1. Students paste their manila cards on different parts of the
classroom wall for their friends to see. 1 representative will
always remain at their card to explain if they are being asked
about it.
2. Students are given post-it notes to comment and paste it on
their friends work in a gallery walk for 5 minutes. They will take
this opportunity to ask their friends about their presentation
also.
Summary (5 mins)
1. Students describe why they chose those presentations besides
their own as their favorite by their teacher.
