Memorize
Memorize Psalm 101:3
in your translation.
Practice reciting
verses 1-3 together.

Pray When your eyes are drawn to worthless things, pray Psalm 119:37.

Bad Company Read 1 Corinthians 15:33. Are you keeping any bad company? Is it fastening its grip on
you? This can include worthless things or worthless people – including your own worthless attitudes. What do
you need to do to escape?

Cleave The word used for “fasten” in Psalm 101:3 is the same word translated as cleave, joined or united
in Genesis 2:24 and Ephesians 5:31. Read these verses, then read 1 Corinthians 6:15-20.
 Verse 15: Compare this verse with 1 Corinthians 15:33 and 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. Can you explain the
significance and importance of sexual sin and sexual purity?
 Verse 16: How does sexual sin affect our relationship with Christ?
 Verse 17: Spiritual idolatry is akin to marital adultery. God will not share your heart any more than your
spouse would share your bed. Does comparing your relationship with Christ to a marriage relationship
give you a different perspective?
 Verse 18: Do you struggle with sexual immorality? This is a common problem among women, even
women in the church. Find a mentor or trusted friend you could confess this to, someone who will pray for
you and hold you accountable.
 Verse 19-20: Compare with 1 Samuel 2:29. What does God call it when we reject His sacrifice?

A Worthy Woman Make a lists of the characteristics of a worthy woman (or man) in:
Proverbs 31:10-31 Ephesians 5:18 1 Timothy 3:11
1 Timothy 6:6-10 Titus 2:3-5 1 Peter 3:1-6

Pour it Out Next time you’re flooded with emotions or worried about your kids, read Psalm 62:8 and
Lamentations 2:19.

First Things First Read about Jesus’ visit to Martha and Mary’s home in Luke 10:38-42.
 Verse 40: Come on, don’t you admire Martha just a tiny bit for being so bold – or at least relate to her?
She was just pouring her heart out to Jesus. You can do the same.
 Verse 41: What things are you worried and upset about? Are they worthy things, or worthless?
 Verse 42: What one thing is needed? Do you think it’s the same “thing” Jesus talked about in Matthew
6:33?
