CASINOGrand Knight’s Report
We are now over halfway through the Lenten season. This past Sunday we held our Pancake
Breakfast. There may have been some guidance from the Holy Spirit in picking the date. Although we
didn’t plan it, the Pancake Breakfast fell on the Fourth Sunday of Lent, which is called Lætare Sunday.
Lætare means rejoice. It is the midpoint of our Lenten journey and we are called to preserve fervently
to the end of this holy season when we will celebrate our Lord’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. It was
very appropriate to celebrate “Rejoice” Sunday with a Pancake Breakfast. As usual, our chairman, George
Tibus, and his crew did a great job and the food was delicious.

Our Lenten Fish Frys are now complete. I heard numerous compliments about the food. And I
noticed many repeat customers. I want to thank Brian Peterson, who chaired the first two Fish Frys and
Jim Baur, who chaired the last one, for all their hard work. I also want to thank everyone who assisted
them. Many hands make light work and we had lots of help with the set up, food preparation, serving, and
the all-important clean up.

Both the Lenten Fish Frys and the Pancake Breakfast offered a great opportunity to share a meal
with our family and friends. The events were successful both as fundraisers and in bringing people
together as a community.

Our thanks go out to our chaplain, Fr. Tom, for donating the
Cubs tickets for our raffles. We had a great response at our March
business meeting, the Pancake Breakfast, and the last Lenten Fish
Fry.

We also want to thank Fr. Tom for his strong support. He

graciously allows us to use the facilities at St. Thomas of Villanova
for our meetings and other activities such as our Pancake
Breakfast. He encourages the men of his parish to join the Knights.
Fr. Tom Rzepiela

Our next business meeting will be on April 12 at St. Theresa. Our MH Dinner will be on April 16 at
St. Theresa. I hope to see everyone at both events

God Bless
Jim Killigrew, Grand Knight

MH Appreciation Dinner
2009 was another successful year for our MH (Tootsie Roll) Drive. On Friday, April 16th we are
celebrating with our annual dinner when we will distribute the checks to the various organizations and
kickoff the 2010 Drive. All Knights, the Team workers, and their families are invited to share this meal
with representatives of the many organizations we serve. Doors open at 6:00 pm and dinner is served at
6:30 PM in the Lower Dolan Center at St. Theresa.

All are invited at no charge. Please contact your corner/store captain or Bernie Bojarski (847)

Communion Breakfast at St. Thomas

We are planning a Knights Communion Breakfast for Sunday, April 25, 2010 at St. Thomas.
This is an opportunity to share Mass, Communion, and a meal together. It is also a way to
bring some attention to the Knights as we will all sit together in the front of church. We
encourage you to bring your families. There will be a small charge for breakfast.
Further details will be provided at the April business meeting and in a separate e-mail.

Second and Third Degree Exemplification

Zurich on Palm Sunday, March 28th. The 2nd degree starts at 1:30 P.M., the 3rd degree immediately

All-Night Eucharistic Adoration

Pierre Zermatten
Don’t forget the Knights of Columbus, along with St. Theresa Respect Life Group,
sponsor an All-Night Eucharistic Adoration on the first Friday of every month at St. Theresa
Day Chapel. The purpose is to provide a terrific opportunity for personal spiritual growth while
praying to defend the sanctity of life in the process.

The upcoming first Friday is May 7th

Note: Eucharistic Adoration will not be held on Good Friday, April 2nd.

Starts Friday at 8:45 am and continues until the 8:00 am Saturday Mass.

Whether you can only stop by for a minute of whether you can spend a whole hour or more in the
physical presence of our Lord, we invite you to join us in silent adoration, reflection and prayers. Please
call Leo Miklius (847-397-4435) or Pierre Zermatten (847-358-8648) if you can commit an hour.

Bellarmine Retreat Weekend

With all the TV’s, computers, cell phones, MP3 players, and other devices, it seems as though
we’re always listening to something to occupy our time. Do we ever give time to listen to God? Maybe
you’ve been to a retreat in the past, but have you been to a silent retreat? If you haven’t, then you owe
it to yourself to at least try it. Bellarmine offers a peaceful environment wherein the silent retreat
enables a person to experience a deeply satisfying encounter with Christ and His word. Many who have
gone, look forward to coming back year after year.

The retreat is built around talks (similar to homilies) given by a resident Jesuit priest. If you
prefer, you can go to their library and read one of their inspiring books, walk outside around the
beautiful grounds, or just relax in the solitude of your own room. So why not break away from your
everyday routine and give it a try. By the way, the food is pretty darn good as well. The Bellarmine

or Lou Akins at 847-358-7492. You can also go to Bellarmine’s website at www.bellarminehall.org.
