-- Installation Instructions -Run the exe, select the Rewrite folder if it's not automatically detected, press
next. It should be that simple. You do need to be in Japanese locale to play th
is game. Applocale may not be enough. Visit the error report thread or #Ammy@irc
.rizon.net if you need further assistance.
This patch comes with a walkthrough in a separate text file.
-- Known Issues -- The subtitles on the videos may not play for everyone. Installing a codec pack
like CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net/) should make them work. The only except
ions we've heard of all turned out to be people with custom or out-of-date codec
packs. Also, there are no subtitles for the endings of the heroine routes, beca
use those endings aren't actually videos. You can still see translations of the
lyrics in one of the text files that comes with this patch.
- Some people have reported Rewrite becoming blurry after patching. A couple pos
sible solutions have been proposed (beyond the usual reinstalling and restarting
). First, you can change your graphics card settings to medium or high. Second,
you can modify system.ini as explained in this post on our forums: http://amater
asu.tindabox.net/forums/index.php?topic=1040.msg25206#msg25206
- None of the credits are translated. This is standard for our translations, bec
ause romanizing Japanese names is very literally guesswork, so there's absolutel
y no point trying unless we have a way of looking up the correct reading for eve
ry single name of someone who worked on Rewrite.
- If, after installing the patch, the SiglusEngine.exe file crashes the moment y
ou try to run it, then try replacing it with this .exe instead: http://www.media
fire.com/download.php?rurjs0r3nb1lc4u (or if that still doesn't work: http://www
.mediafire.com/?4z91pb2ojidcxjv)
- Near the end of Shizuru's route, the text may suddenly become much larger just
before a certain visual effect occurs.
- In Chihaya's route multiple references are made to a left-hand wristblade even
though other routes state Kotarou cannot produce aurora from his left hand at a
ll. We consider this a genuine (albeit minor) plot hole and have decided to leav

e it intact in the translation rather than trying to fix it.

-- Translation Notes -Like many VNs, Rewrite has a number of words that have a special meaning within
the fictional setting. Here is a list of some of those words in both Japanese an
d English, for those of you who were curious.
Gaia - gaia
Gaians - gaia shugisha
Holy Woman - seijo
Disciples - seijokai
Familiar - mamono
Summoner - mamonotsukai
Contract - keiyaku or keiyakusen
Guardian - gaadian
Superhumans or Hunters - choujin or nouryokusha or shuryousha
Hunter-type - shuryoukei
Cutter-type - bassaikei
Polluter-type - osenkei
Aurora - aurora
Omnipotent Power - bannou no chikara
Re-evolution - saishinka
In Terra, Kagari refers to humanity in various ways. In Japanese parenthesis wer
e used to clarify her meaning, but it looked jarring in English so we cut them o
ut. Most of them can be either guessed or easily looked up anyway. Just to be th
orough, here they are:
- Homo sapiens (intelligent people)
- Homo ludens (person who goofs off)
- Homo demens (confused person)
- Homo sociologics (people with roles in society)
- Homo faber (people who create)
- Homo religious (people with religion)
- Homo commercias (people who trade)
- Homo fondliens (people who touch boobs)
Some of these terms have actually been used in literature before, but for others
I had to arbitrarily pick a romanization to use.
