Allah shows us a way how to speak with different people from different religion or community. In this
Book We are not going to talk about what commonly known by the both follower of their religion like
example: lying, Killing, Raping etc.
In this current Book we are trying to bring out those similarities which are known by the majority of the
follower of the both religions.

INTRODUCTION:
CORRECT UNDERSTANDING OF A RELIGION
Followers of major religions, whether it be Hinduism, Islam or Christianity, have divided themselves and
their beliefs into various sects.
It is not appropriate for one to try to understand a religion by observing the followers of that religion.
Most followers may themselves not be aware of the correct teachings of their religion. Thus, the best and
the most appropriate method of understanding any religion is to understand the authentic sources of that
religion, i.e. the sacred scriptures of that religion.

Allah (swt) also says in the Glorious Quran in several places including Al Quran 4:59:
O ye who believe!
Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger.
(Al Quran 4:59)
To understand the Quran better we have to refer to the explanation of the Quran by Prophet Muhammad
(pbuh) on whom the Quran was revealed. Thus the best and the most appropriate method of
understanding Islam is to understand the authentic sources of Islam which are the Glorious Quran, (the
words of Almighty Allah) and the authentic Ahadith, (i.e. the sayings and traditions of Prophet
Muhammad.
Similarly, the best and the most appropriate method of understanding Hinduism is to understand the
authentic sources i.e. the sacred scriptures of Hinduism. The most sacred and authentic Scriptures of
Hinduism are the Vedas, followed by the Upanishads, the Itihaas, Bhagvad Gita, Puranas, etc.
Let us understand these two major religions of the world, i.e. Islam and Hinduism, by studying and
analyzing the authentic Scriptures of these two major religions of the world.
d. Emphasis on those Similarities, which are not commonly known.
In this work on Similarities between Islam and Hinduism, we shall not lay emphasis on those
similarities which are known by almost all the followers of both the religions e.g. a person should always
speak the truth, he should not lie, he should not steal, he should be kind, he should not be cruel, etc.
Instead, we shall consider those similarities, which are not commonly known by all the followers and
hence are known only to those who are familiar with the contents of their sacred Scriptures

Introduction of Hinduism
1.
Definition of a Hindu
The word Hindu has geographical significance and was used originally for those people who lived
beyond the river Sindhu or the region watered by the river Indus. Some historians say that it was first
used by the Persians who came to India through the north western passes of the Himalayas. The word
Hindu is no where mentioned in Indian literature or scriptures before the advent of Muslims to India,
according to the Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics. According to Jawaharlal Nehru in the book
Discovery of India on page 74-75, he writes that the earliest reference to the word Hindu can be traced
to a tantrik of the 8th Century CE, where it means a people and not a follower of a particular religion.
The use of the word Hindu in connection with a particular religion is of late occurrence.
In short Hindu is a geographical definition used for the people living beyond the river Indus or those
living in India
2.
Definition of Hinduism
a) Hinduism has been derived from the word Hindu. Hinduism was a name given in English language in
the Nineteenth Century by the English people to the multiplicity of the beliefs and faith of the people
of the Indus land. According to New Encyclopedia Britannica 20:581. The British writers in 1830 gave
the word Hinduism to be used as the common name for all the beliefs of the people of India excluding
the Muslims and converted Christians.
b) The term Hinduism is misleading because though it suggests the unified system of beliefs and ideas, it
is certainly not the case. Hinduism is too broad a phenomenon to be confined to usual definitions of
religions. It does not owe its origin, formation or finalization to any historical person or a prophet
since there are no uniformly accepted belief sacraments, rituals and practices in Hinduism, there are no
criteria for establishing rules in Hinduism. In short a person who calls himself a Hindu becomes a true
practicing Hindu irrespective who he worships and whatever may be his beliefs and practice.
c) According to the Hindu scholars Hinduism is a misnomer and it should be referred a Sanatana
Dharma, meaning eternal religion or Vedic Dharma meaning religion of the Veda. According to
Swami Vivekananda the followers of this religion is referred as Vedantist.

B. Introduction of Islam
1. Definition of Islam
Islam is an Arabic word which comes from the word Salaam or slim which means Peace. It also
means submitting your will to Allah - the Almighty God. Islam means peace acquired by submitting
your will to Allah (SWT).
2. Definition of a Muslim
A Muslim is an Arabic word which also derived from the word Salaam or slim a person who submits
his will to Allah - the Almighty God. The word Muslim is mentioned several times in the Quran and
Hadith including Surah Ali Imran Chapter 3 Verse 64 and Surah Fussilat Chapter 41 Verse 33.
To understand any religion the best and the most accurate way to analyze their religion scripture. The
Authentic source of the religion is their scripture (books), trying to analysis and understanding any
religion by looking at the follower is not always correct because most of the followers they themselves do
not know what their scripture speak about their religion.
Many people have a misconception that Islam is a new religion that was formulated 1400 years ago, and
that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the founder of Islam. However, let me clarify that Islam is not the
name of some unique religion presented for the first time by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who should, on
that account be called the founder of Islam.
The Quran states that Islam the complete submission of man before his one and only Unique Creator
is the one and only faith and way of life consistently revealed by God to humankind from the very
beginning. Noah, Solomon, David, Abraham, Moses, Isaac and Jesus (peace be upon them all) prophets
who appeared at different times and places all propagated the same faith and conveyed the same
message of Tawheed (Oneness of God), Risaalat (Prophethood) and Aakhirah (the Hereafter). These
prophets of God were not founders of different religions to be named after them. They were each
reiterating the message and faith of their predecessors.
8|Page

BY
However, Muhammad (pbuh) was the last Prophet of God. God revived through him the same genuine
faith which had been conveyed by all His Prophets. This original message was earlier corrupted and split
into various religions by people of different ages, who indulged in interpolations and admixture. These
alien elements were eliminated by God, and Islam in its pure and original form was transmitted to
humankind through Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Since there was to be no messenger after Muhammad (pbuh), the Book revealed to him (i.e. the Glorious
Quran) was preserved word for word so that it should be a source of guidance for all times.
Thus the religion of all the prophets was total submission to Gods will and one word for that in the
Arabic language is Islam. Abraham and Jesus (peace be upon them) too were Muslims, as Allah testifies
in Al-Qur'an 3:67 and 3:52 respectively.
Hinduism
Pillars of Faith in Hinduism are not defined. As mentioned earlier that Hinduism does not have a set
of unified or codified beliefs. Neither does it have any fixed pillars or principles which are obligatory
for its followers to practice. A Hindu has a freedom to practice whatever he pleases, there is no such
thing as compulsory or prohibited for him thus no act committed by a person can make him a nonHindu. Neither omission of any act can make him a non-Hindu. However there are certain beliefs
which are common to most of the Hindus. Even though it may not be agreed upon 100% by all the
Hindus, we shall discuss some of them while discussing the pillars of Islam.

2. If you ask a common Hindu that how many Gods he believe in, some may say three some may say
thirty three, some may say a thousand while some may say thirty three crore i.e. 330 millions. But if
you ask this question to a Hindu learned man who is well Versed with the Hindu scriptures, he will
reply that the Hindu should actually believe and worship only one God.
3. Difference between Islam and Hinduism is s
(Everything is Gods - everything is God):
The major difference between the Hindu and the Muslim is that the common Hindu believes in
philosophy of Pantheism i.e. everything is God, the tree is God, the sun is God, the moon is God, the
snake is God, the monkey is God, the human being is God.
The Muslims believe that everything is Gods. God with and apostrophe s. Everything belongs to
God, the tree belongs to God, the sun belongs to God, the moon belongs to God, monkey belongs to
God, the human being belongs to God.
Thus the major difference between the Hindus and the Muslims is the apostrophe s. The Hindu says
everything is God. The Muslim says everything is Gods, God with an apostrophe s. If we can
solve the difference of the apostrophe s, the Hindus and the Muslims will be united.
The Holy Quran says, Come to common terms as between us and you, which is the first term? That
we worship none but Allah, so lets come to common terms by analyzing the scripture of the Hindus and
the Muslim.
4) the most popular amongst all the Hindu scriptures is the Bhagwad Geeta.

a) (i)Vedas: It is derived from Vid, to know, means knowledge par excellence, sacred wisdom.
There are 4 principal divisions of the Vedas (Although according to their number, they amount to
1131 out of which about a dozen are available. According to Maha Bhashya of Patanjali there are
21 branches of Rigveda,
9 types of Atharvaveda,
101 branches of Yajurveda and
1000 of Samveda
(ii) The Rigveda, the Yajurveda and Samveda are considered to be more ancient books and are
known as Trai Viddya or the Tripple Sciences. The Rigveda is the oldest and has been compiled
in 3 long and different periods of time. The 4th Veda is the Atharvaveda which is of a later date.
(iii) There is no unanimous opinion regarding the date of compilation or revelation of the 4 Vedas.
According to Swami Dayanand, who is the founder of the Arya Samaj, the Vedas were revealed
1310 millions of years ago and according to other scholars they are not more than 4000 years old.
(iv) Similarly there is a difference of opinion regarding the places where these books were revealed
and the Rishis to whom these Scriptures were given. Inspite of these differences the Vedas are the
most authentic of the Hindu Scriptures and the real foundations of the Hindu Dharma.
b) Upanishads:
(i) The word Upanishads is derived from Upa meaning near, ni which means down and shad means
to sit, therefore Upanishads means sitting down near groups of pupils sit near the teacher to learn
from him the secret doctrines.
According to Samkara Upanishad is derived from the root word Sad which means to loosen, to
reach or to destroy, with Upa and ni as prefix, therefore Upanishad means Brahma-knowledge
by which ignorance is loosened or destroyed.
(ii) The number of Upanishads exceeds 200 though the Indian tradition puts it at 108. There are 10
principal Upanishads however some consider them to be more than 10, while other 18.
(iii) The Vedanta meant originally the Upanishads, though the word is now used for the system of
philosophy based on the Upanishad. Literally, Vedanta means the end of the Veda, Vedasya-antah,
the conclusion as well as the goal of Vedas. The Upanishads are the concluding portion of the Vedas
and chronologically they come at the end of the Vedic period.

The Smrti are not considered to be of divine origin but are human composition which regulate and

Itihas.
Bhagaved Geetha
Manus smirti etc..
All this scripture written by the human being
c) Puranas
Next in order of authenticity are the Puranas which are the most widely read scriptures. The Purana
contains the history of the creation of the universe, history of the early Aryan tribes and life stones of
the devines and deities of the Hindus. The Puranas are revealed books like the Vedas which were
revealed simultaneously with the Vedas or somewhere close to it.
Maharishi Vyasa has divided the Puranas into 18 voluminous parts. He also arranged the Vedas under
various heads. The Gita and Mahabharata were productions of his masterly pen.
Chief among the Puranas is a book known as Bhavishya Purana. It is called so because it gives an
account of future event. The Hindus consider it to be the word of God. Maharishi Vyasa was just the
compiler of the book. The real author being God himself.
Hindu scholars says the most authentic scripture amongst Hindu scripture is Vedas

CONCEPT OF MESSENGER IN
HINDUISM
A common Hindu believe in a philosophy or concept known as a AVTAAR The meaning of Avtaar
in the oxford Dictionary is, (In Hindu Mythology) the descent of a diety of a released soul to earth in
bodily form. In simple words, Avtaar means God Almighty coming down to earth in bodily form.
In Hinduism, It is believed that God Almighty comes down to the earth in some bodily form to
protect the religion or to set an example or set the rules for the human beings.
There is no reference of Avtaars anywhere in the Vedas. The most sacred of the Hindu Scriptures i.e.
Sruti. However it is found in the Smrti i.e. the Puranas and the Itihasas.
Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendent of Bharata, and a
predominant rise of irreligion at that time I descend Myself.
To deliver the Pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of
religion, I myself appear, millenium after millennium.
[Bhagavad Geeta, Chapter 4, Verse 7-8]
Same message given in the
Whenever evil increase I will raise myself
[Bhagvad Purana Khand 9 Adiyah 24 Sloka 56]
ANTHROPOMORPHISM
Most of the other religions some time or the other believes in the philosophy of anthropomorphism i.e.
God take human form. They have a very good logic for it Almighty God is so pure and Holy the he is
unaware of the hardships, shortcomings, difficulties feelings etc. of the human being. He does not know
how does a person feel when he is hurt or when he is in trouble etc. Therefore in order to set the rules for
the human beings. He came down to the earth in the form of a human being. On the face of it, it seems to
be a very good logic. This concept does not exist anywhere in the Vedas!.

Some Suktas (Chapters) are known as Kuntap Sukt. Kuntap means the consumer of misery and
troubles. Thus meaning the message of peace and safety and if translated in Arabic means Islam.
Kuntap also means hidden glands in the abdomen. These mantras are called so probably because their
true meaning was hidden and was to be revealed in future. Its hidden meaning is also connected with
the navel or the middle point of this earth. Mecca is called the Ummul Quran the mother of the
towns or the naval of the earth in many revealed books it was the first house of divine worship where
God Almighty gave spiritual nourishment to the world.

Another name for Mecca is Becca. Thus Kuntap stands for Mecca or Becca.
Several people have translated these Kuntap Suktas like M. Blomfield, Prof. Ralph Griffith, Pandith

Mantra 1:
He is narashansah or the praised one (Muhammad).
He is Kaurama the prince of peace or the emigrant, who is safe, even amongst a host of 60,090

Mantra 2:

Commentary:
(i) The Sanskrit word Narashansah means the praised one which is the literal translation of the
Arabic word Muhammad (pbuh).
The Sanskrit word Kaurama means one who spreads and promotes peace the holy Prophet was
the Prince of Peace and he preached equality of human kind and universal brotherhood. Kaurama
also means an emigrant. The Prophet migrated from Mecca to Medina and was thus also an
Emigrant. He will be protected from 60,090 enemies which was the population of Mecca.
(ii) The Prophet would ride a camel, this clearly indicates that, it cannot be an Indian Rishi since it is
forbidden for a Brahman to ride a camel, sacred Books of the east, Volume 25, Laws of Manu page
472 according to Manu Smriti, Chapter 11, Verse 202.
A Brahman is prohibited from riding a camel or an ass and to bath naked. He should purify himself
by suppressing his breath.
(iii) (a) This Mantra gave the Rishis name as Mamah. No rishi in India or any other Prophet had this
name Mamah is derived from Mah which means to esteem highly, on a revere, to exalt, etc. Some
Sanskrit books give the Prophets name as Mahamad, but this word according to Sanskrit grammar
can also be used in the bad sense. It is incorrect to apply grammar to an Arabic word. Actually
Mamah has the some meaning and somewhat similar pronunciation as the word Muhammad (pbuh).
(b) He is given 100 gold coins, which refers to the believers and the earlier companions of the Prophet
during his turbulent Meccan life. Later on due to persecution they migrated from Mecca to Abyssinia
later when Prophet migrated to Madina all of them joined him in Madinah.
(c) The 10 chaplets or necklaces were the 10 best companions of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) known as
Ashra Mubbashshira (10 bestowed with good news). These were fore told in this world of their
salvation in the hereafter i.e. they were given the good news of entering paradise by Prophets own
lips and after naming each one he said (in Paradise). They were Abu Baker, Umer, Uthman, Ali,
Talha, Zubair, Abdur Rahman Ibni Auf, Sad Bin Abi Waqqar, Sad Bin Zaid and Abu Ubeidah (May
God be well-pleased with them).
(d) The third gift was 300 good steeds. These horses belonged to the Arab breed. The Sanskrit word
Arvah means swift Arab horse, The 300 steeds refers to the 300 companions of the Holy Prophet
who fought at the battle of Badar and came back victorious even though the enemies were thrice the
number.

(e) The Sankrit word Go is derived from Gaw which means to go to war. A cow is also called Go
and is a symbol of war as well as peace, the 10,000 cows refers to the 10,000 companious of who
accompanied the Prophet (Pubh) when he entered Mecca during Fateh Mecca which was a unique
victory in the history of mankind in which there was no blood shed. The 10,000 companions were
pious and compassionate like a cow and were at the same time strong and fierce and are described in
the Holy Quran in Surah Fatah, Chapter 48, Verse 29,
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are strong against unbelievers,
(but) compassionate amongst each other.
This mantra calls the Prophet as Rebh which means one who praises which when translated into
Arabic is Ahmed which is another name for the Holy Prophet (pbuh).

(ix) The wisdom mentioned in this mantra refer to the Holy Quran. The Holy Quran earns good not
only in this world but also in the hereafter. The Prophet (pbuh) is asked to propagate amongst his

Glory be to Him, Who transported His Servant one night from the Masjid-i-Haram to the distant Temple,
whose surroundings We have blessed, so that we might show him some of Our Sings: the fact alone is

[Al-Quran Ch 17 Verse 1]
*1 The event referred to in this verse is known "Mi`raj" and "Isra"'. According to authentic traditions, this
took place a year before Hijrah. In the traditional and biographical literature, its details have been related
by a large number (25) of the Companions. Anas bin Malik, Malik bin Sa`asa`ah, Abuzar Ghifari, and
Abu Hurairah (Allah be pleased with them all) have related details of the event. Besides them, `Umar,
`Ali, `Abdullah bin Mas`ud(Allah be pleased with them) have also related some parts of this event.
In this verse, the Qur'an mentions only a part of the Journey, i.e., from Masjid-i-Haram to the Temple at
Jerusalem. The object of this journey as stated here was that Allah willed to show His aervant some of His
signs. The Qur'an does not give any details other than this but we find further details in the traditions,
which are to this effect:

One night the Angel Jibril transported the Holy Prophet on al-Buraq from Masjid-i-Haram to Masjid-iAqsa (the Temple). There the Holy Prophet offered his prayers along with the other Prophets. Then he
took him towards the higher spheres, where he met some of the great Prophets in different spheres. At last
he reached the Highest Place in the Heavens, and was received in audience by Allah. It was there that
besides other important instructions five daily Prayers were prescribed. Then he returned to the Temple
and from there came back to Masjid-iHaram. During this Journey, according to many traditions, Paradise
and Hell were shown to him. We also learn from authentic traditions that on the following day when he
mentioned this event, the disbelievers of Makkah scoffed at him, and some of the Muslims also were
skeptical about this.
The above additional details based on the traditions cannot be said to be against the Qur'an, for these are
additions to the details given in the Qur'an; therefore, the details related in the traditions cannot be.
Rejected on the plea that they are against the Qur'an. Nevertheless, if one rejects any part of those details
which are given in the traditions, one cannot be declared a renegade. On the other hand, if one rejects the
details given in the Qur'an, one does become a renegade.
There are different versions of this Journey. Some say that this happened in a dream, while others are of
the opinion that the Holy Prophet was fully awake and went on the Journey with his own physical body;
some others say that it was merely a mystic vision which was shown to him. The opening words of this
verse: "Glory be to Him, who transported His Servant however, clearly show that it was a super-natural
event which was brought about by the unlimited power of Allah. It is quite obvious that if the event had
been merely a mystic vision, it would not have been introduced by the words which imply that the Being
Who brought about this event is free from each and every kind of weakness and defect. Again the words
"transported His servant one night" also show that this was not a dream or a vision but a physical journey
in which Allah arranged that the Holy Prophet should make observation of His Signs with his physical
eyes. Therefore, one is bound to admit that this was not a mere spiritual experience but a physical journey
and visual observation which Allah arranged for His Prophet.
It is strange that some people are of the opinion that this extraordinary journey could not be possible, but
now when man with his limited-very limited power has been able to reach the moon; it is absurd to deny
that Allah with His limitless powers could enable His Messenger to make this journey in the
extraordinary short time it took.
Above all, the question whether a thing is possible or not, can arise only in the `case of human beings
whose powers are after all limited, but such questions cannot be raised where the AlI-Powerful Allah is
concerned. Only such a person who does not believe that Allah is able to do everything can raise
objections against this wonderful Journey about which Allah Himself says that He transported His
Servant one night from Masjid-i-Haram to Masjid-i-Aqsa. Likewise all the objections raised against the
various details which are given in the traditions are frivolous, except two, which are plausible:
52 | P a g e
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN ISLAM AND HINDUISM

BY
First, if we accept these details, then we shall have to admit drat Allah is confined to a certain place:
otherwise there was no need that His Servant should be transported for this purpose to a certain place.
Secondly, according to traditions, the Holy Prophet was enabled to observe Paradise and Hell where he
saw some people suffering from torment. The objection is: why should sane people be awarded
punishments or rewards before the Final Judgment after Resurrection?
As regards the first objection, it is true that Allah is Infinite by Himself, but in dealing with His creation,
He employs those means which suit His imperfect creation not because of any limitation of His, but
because of the limitations of His creation. For instance, when He speaks to any of His creature, He adopts
the same limited mode of conversation as the addressee can understand, though He has limitless modes of
speech. Likewise, when He desires to show some of the wonderful Signs of His Kingdom to a servant. He
transports him to the place where the' Signs are to be shown. It is obvious that the servant cannot see at
one and the same time the whole of the universe as Allah does, for Allah has no need to go to any place at
all for this purpose but the servant has. The same applies to the appearance of the servant before the
Creator. Though Allah is not confined to any locality, it is necessary for the servant to go to the place
where His manifestations have been concentrated for his observation because it is not possible for the
servant with his limited powers to go in His Presence in His Infinite Capacity.
As regards the second objection, it is based on the lack of understanding the thing: many of the Signs
which were shown to the Holy Prophet were symbolical. For instance, a small hole from which a fat ox
came out but could not go back into it, represented mischief personified. In the same way the adulterers
were shown as if they had fresh meat before them but instead of that they were eating rotten flesh.
Similarly punishments for evil deeds shown to him were only symbolic observations of the punishments
in the Hereafter so that he might see in advance the things which would take place in the Hereafter.
In regard to the Mi `raj it should be kept in view that aII the Prophets were enabled by Allah to see His
Signs in the heavens and the earth according to their ranks. And for this purpose all the material curtains
were lifted so that they could see with their naked eyes the unseen realities, to which they were required
to invite the people.
This was done so that the Prophets could say with full conviction what they had seen with their own eyes.
For this experience would distinguish there from a philosopher who bases all his theories on guess-work
and cannot say that he bears witness to what he claims. In contrast to philosophers, Prophets could say
that they bore witness to the things which they presented because they had seen them with their own eyes.
Allahamdulilah(praise be to Allah, God) All these prophecy of Kalki Avtaar fit to no one but the
last and final messenger of Allah Mohammed(pbuh)
Now if you Analysis the Verse of Bhagwath Geeta Ch 4 Verse 7-8. In the light of Vedas
I come here means the not God itself but the messenger God will send the messenger.

Angels are creation of Allah (SWT) which are normally unseen and has been created from light.
They do not have their own free will and always obey the commandments of Almighty Allah.

Most of the Hindus believe in the cycle of birth, death and rebirth, which is called Samsara.
Samsara or the doctrine of rebirth is also known as the theory of reincarnation or of transmigration
of the soul. This doctrine is considered to be a basic tenet of Hinduism. According to doctrine of
rebirth, differences between individuals, even at the time of their birth are due to their past karma i.e.
actions done in the past birth. For example if one child is born healthy while another is handicapped
or blind, the differences are attributed to their deeds in their previous lives. Those who believe in this
theory reason that since all actions may not bear fruit in this life, there has to be another life for
facing or reaping the consequences of ones actions.

As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material
bodies, giving up the old and useless.

As a Caterpillar which has wriggled to the top of a blade of grass draws itself over to a new blade,
so does the soul, after it has put aside its body draws itself over to a new existence. (Brihadaranyaka

2.
Karma means act, deed, action or activity and refers not only to action undertaken by the body but
also to those undertaken by the mind. Karma is actually action and reaction or the law of cause and
effect. It is explained by the saying, As we sow, so shall we reap. A farmer cannot sow wheat and
expect rice to grow. Similarly, every good thought, word or deed begets a similar reaction which
affects our next life and every unkind thought, harsh word and evil deed comes back to harm us in
this life or in the next life.

Dharma means what is right or righteous duties. This includes what is right for the individual,
family, the class or caste and also for the universe itself. In order to achieve good karma, life should
be lived according to Dharma, otherwise it will result in bad karma. Dharma affects both, the present
life and the future as well.
4.
Moksha means liberation from the cycle of rebirth or of Samsara. The ultimate aim of every Hindu
is that one day the cycle of rebirth will be over and he will not have to be reborn again. This can only
happen if there is no karma to cause an individual to be reborn i.e. it looses its good and bad karma.
5.
The important point worth noting is that the doctrine of rebirth is not postulated, propounded nor
even mentioned anywhere in what are considered to be the most authentic Hindu scriptures i.e. the
Vedas. The Vedas make no mention of the entire concept of transmigration of souls.

Punarjanam does not mean cycle of rebirth but means Life after Death:
The Common word used for the doctrine of rebirth is Punarjanam. In Sanskrit Punar or Puna,
means, next time' or again and Janam means life. Therefore Punarjanam means next life or
the life hereafter. It does not mean coming to life on earth again and again as a living creature.
If one reads many of the references to Punarjanam in Hindu Scriptures besides the Vedas, keeping
the life in the hereafter in mind, one gets the concept of the next life but not of rebirths or of life
again and again. This is true for several quotations of the Bhagvad Gita and Upanishad which speak
of Punarjanam.
This concept of repeated births or of cycle of rebirth was developed after the Vedic period. This
doctrine was included by humans in subsequent Hindu scriptures including the Upanishad, Bhagvad
Gita and the Puranas in a conscious attempt to rationalize and explain the differences between
different individuals at birth and the different circumstances in which people find themselves in, with
the concept that Almighty God is not unjust. So to say that since God is not unjust the inequalities
and differences between people are due to their deeds in their past lives.
Islam has a rational answer to this which we shall discuss later InshaAllah.

Islam states that a human being comes into this world only once, and after he dies, he is again
resurrected on the day of judgement. Depending on his deeds he will either dwell in heaven i.e.
Paradise or he will dwell in hell.
This life that we lead in this world is a test for the hereafter. If we follow the commandments of the
Almighty Creator and we pass the test, we shall enter Paradise i.e., which is Eternal Bliss. If we do
not follow the commandments of our creator and fail the test then we shall be put into hell.

a. Al-Jannah i.e. paradise is a place of perpetual bliss. In Arabic, jannat literally means the
Garden. The Quran describes paradise in great detail, such as gardens underneath which rivers run.
It contains rivers of milk unchanging in flavour and rivers of purified honey. In paradise is fruit of
every kind. No fatigue shall be felt in paradise neither shall there be any idle talk. There shall be no
cause of sin, difficulty, anxiety, trouble or hardship. Paradise shall thus have peace and bliss.

5. Hell Jahannam
Hell is a place of torment where evil-doers undergo the most terrible pain and suffering caused by
being burnt by hellfire, a fire whose fuel is men and stones. Further, the Quran states that as many
times as their skins are burnt, the residents of hell shall be given fresh skin so that they feel the pain.
Hell is described in several verses of the Quran including:

DESTINY:
Qadr is the concept of Destiny. Certain aspects of human life are predestined by our Creator
Almighty Allah. For example, where and when will a person be born, the surroundings and
conditions in which he will be born, how long will he live and where and when he will die. These are
predetermined by the Creator.

Each human being undergoes a test in this world. The test an individual undergoes differs from
person to person, depending upon the comforts and the conditions in which Allah puts an individual.
He passes His judgement accordingly. For example if a teacher sets a difficult examination paper, the
correction is usually lenient. On the other hand if the teacher sets an easy examination paper, the
correction is strict.

Similarly some human beings are born in rich families while some others are born in poor families.
Islam instructs every rich Muslim, who has a saving of more than the Nisaab level, i.e. 85 gms of
Gold, to give 2.5% of his excess wealth in obligatory charity every lunar year. This called the system
of Zakaah in Islam. Some rich persons may be giving the minimum required charity; some may be
giving less than what is required while others may not be giving at all. Thus for a rich man, he may
get full marks in Zakat i.e. charity, some may get less, some may get nil. On the other hand, a poor
person who has a saving of less than 85 gms of gold gets full marks in Zakat, because he does not
have to give this compulsory charity. Any normal human being would like to be rich and not poor.
Some may appreciate the rich people and sympathise with the poor, not knowing that the same
wealth may take that person to hell if he does not give charity and due to this wealth falls prey to
temptations of character, while poverty for the poor man may be an easy path to paradise if he
follows the other commandments of Almighty God. The converse may be true. A wealthy man may
earn paradise by his philanthropy and humility, while a poor person who covets luxuries and hence
resorts to unfair means to get them may be in trouble on the Day of Judgement.
5. Children born with congenital defects are a test for their parents
Some children are born healthy while others are born handicapped or with a congenital defect.
Irrespective of whether a child is born healthy or handicap, in Islam he is Masoom i.e. sinless. There
is no question of the child being handicapped due to a carried forward baggage of past sins from a
previous life. Such a belief will not inculcate a charitable attitude in others. Others might say that
the child deserves his birth defects or the handicap since it is a result of his bad karma.
Islam states that such handicaps are a type of test for the parent whether they are yet thankful
towards their Creator or not. Do they retain their patience? Do they continue to persevere?
There is a famous saying that a person was sad because he had no shoes to wear until he saw a
person who had no feet.

SIMILARITIES BETWEEN ISLAM AND HINDUISM

BY
Allah (swt) may be testing the parents whether they yet are thankful to their Creator or not. May be
the parents are righteous and pious and deserve Jannah. If Allah wants to give them a higher place in
Jannah, He will test them further, e.g. by giving a handicap child. Yet if they are thankful to their
Creator, they will deserve a higher reward i.e. the Jannatul Firdous.
There is a general rule that the more difficult the test, higher the reward. To pass graduation in Arts
and Commerce is relatively easy and if you pass you are called as a graduate without any special title
but if you graduate in the field of medicine which is comparatively a much more difficult
examination, besides becoming a graduate you are also called as a doctor and the title Dr. is put in
front of your name.
In the same way Allah (swt) tests, different people in different ways, some with health, some with
disease, some with wealth, some with poverty, some with more intelligence, some with less, and
depending upon the facility He gives the individual, He tests accordingly.
Thus the main reason for the differences in the human being is that this life is a test for the hereafter.
Life after death is mentioned in the Quran as well as the Vedas.

PILLARS OF ISLAM
1. ISLAMIC CREED:
Narrated Ibn Umar (r.a.) That Allahs Messenger (pbuh) said: Islam is based on (the following) five
(principles):
1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah and that Muhammad (pbuh) is the
slave and messenger of Allah.
2. Iqamat-as-salaah (to perform prayers)
3. To pay Zakaat
4. To perform Hajj (i.e. Pilgrimage to Makkah)
5. To Observe Saum (i.e. fast) during the month of Ramadhaan

b. TESTIMONY OF FAITH:
The First Pillar of Islam i.e. to declare, proclaim, testify and to bear witness that no entity or deity is
worthy of worship, devotion, obedience and submission except Allah (swt) and to bear witness that
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the last and final Messenger of Allah. This pillar of faith has already been
discussed in the Pillar of Imaan.
2. SALAAH:
Salaah is usually translated in English as prayer. To pray means to beseech or to ask for help. In Salaah
we Muslims do not merely ask for help from Almighty Allah but we also praise Him and receive
guidance from Him. I personally prefer describing it as programming towards righteousness. To
elaborate, consider that during salaah, after Surah Fatiha, an Imaam may recite:
O ye who believe!
Intoxicants and gambling,
(Dedication of) Stones,
And (divination by) arrows,
Are an abomination
Of Satans handiwork;
Eschew such (abomination),
That you may prosper.
(Al Quran 5:90)
Allah (swt) guides us, through this verse of the Quran, which is recited by the Imaam during salaah, that
we should not imbibe intoxicants, we should not indulge in gambling, idol worship or fortune telling. All
these are Satans handiwork and we should abstain from these if we wish to prosper.
The English word prayer does not denote the complete meaning of Salaah in its full and true sense.

Pilgrimage in Hinduism
There are various places of pilgrimage in Hinduism. One of the sacred places mentioned in

Rigved, Bk. 3 hymn 29 verse 4 is Ilayspad, which is situated at Nabha prathvi.
Ila means God or Allah, and spad means place, therefore Ilaspad means place of God. Nabha means
center and prathvi mean earth. Thus this verse of the Veda prescribes pilgrimage to a place of God
situated at the center of the earth.
Sanskrit-English dictionary by M. Monier Williams (Edition 2002) states that Ilaspad is Name of a

Not only non-Muslim scholars, but even some Muslim scholars mistranslate the word Jihad as holy war.
The Arabic word for holy war is harabum muqaddasah and this word is not to be found anywhere in
the Quran or in any hadith. The word holy war was first used to describe the crusades of the Christians
who killed thousands of people in the name of Christianity. Today, this term holy war is used to falsely
describe Jihad, which merely means to strive. In an Islamic context, Jihad means to strive in the way of
Allah for a righteous cause i.e. Jihad fi Sabilillah.

There are different types of Jihad i.e., striving. One of the types is striving is fighting in the battlefield

Fight and slay the Mushrik/Kafir (Hindu) wherever you find them
(Al Quran 9:5)
If you read the Quran, this verse exists but it is quoted out of context by Arun Shourie.
The first few verses of Surah Tawbah before verse 5 speak about the peace treaty between the Muslims
and Muskhriks (polytheists) of Makkah. This peace treaty was unilaterally broken by the Mushriks of
Makkah. In verse no. 5 Allah (swt) gives them an ultimatum to put things straight in four months time,
or else face a declaration of war. It is for the battlefield that Allah says fight and slay the Mushriks (i.e.
the enemies from Makkah) wherever you find them and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for
them in every stratagem of war.
This verse is revealed and instructs the Muslims to fight in the battlefield and kill the enemy wherever
you find them. But natural, any army general to boost up the morale of the soldiers and to encourage them
will say Dont get scared, fight and kill the enemies, wherever you find them in the battlefield. Arun
Shourie in his book The World of Fatwas after quoting Surah Tawbah chapter 9 verse 5 jumps to verse
7. Any logical person will realize that verse 6 has the reply to his allegation.
Surah Tawbah chapter 9 verse 6 says:
If any amongst the Mushriks (i.e. the enemies)
ask thee for asylum, grant it to him so that
he may hear the word of Allah and then
escort him to where he can be secure.
(Al Quran 9:6)
Today the most merciful army general may tell his soldiers to let the enemy go, but Almighty Allah in the
Quran says if the enemy wants peace do not just let them go but escort them to place of security. Which
army general in todays day and age, or rather in the whole of recorded human history is ever known to
have given such merciful instructions? Now will someone ask Mr. Arun Shourie why did he deliberately
not quote verse 6?
4.
All the major religions encourage their followers to strive in good works. It is mentioned in Bhagavad

Therefore strive for Yoga, O Arjuna, which is the art of all work.

Mahabharata is an epic and sacred Scripture of the Hindus, which mainly deals with a fight between the
cousins, the Pandavas and the Kauravas. In the battlefield Arjun prefers not to fight and be killed rather
than having his conscience burdened with the killing of his relatives. At this moment, Krishna advises
Arjun in the battlefield and this advice is contained in the Bhagvad Gita. There are several verses in the
Bhagvad Gita where Krishna advises Arjun to fight and kill the enemies even though they are his
relatives.
b.
It is mentioned in
The Bhagvad Gita Chapter 1 verse 43-46
(43) O Krishna, maintainer of the people, I have heard by disciplic succession that those who destroy
family traditions dwell always in hell
(44) Alas, how strange it is that we are preparing ourselves to commit great sinful acts, driven by the
desire to enjoy royal happiness.
(45) I would consider better for the sons of Dhritarashtra to kill me unarmed and unresisting rather than
fight with them.
(46) Arjuna, having thus spoken, cast aside his bow and arrow, and sat down on the chariot, his mind,
overwhelmed with grief.
c.
Krishna further replies in
Bhagvad Gita Chapter 2 Verse 2, 3
2. My dear Arjuna, how have these impurities come upon you? They are not at all befitting a man who
knows the progressive values of life. They lead not to higher planets but to infamy.
3.
O son of Partha, do not yield to this degrading impotence. It does not become you. Give up such
petty weakness of heart and arise, O chastiser of the enemy!
When Arjuna prefers to be killed unarmed and unresisting rather than fight and kill his cousins Kauravas,
Krishna replies to Arjun by saying how this impure thought has has come to you which prevents you from
entering heaven. Give up this degrading impotence and weakness of heart and arise, O defeater of enemy.
d.
Krishna further says in
Bhagvad Gita Chapter 2 verse 31-33
31. Considering your specific duty as a Kshatriya, you should know that there is no better engagement
for you than fighting on religious principles, so there is no need for hesitation.

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: Allahs Messenger said,
Every Prophet used to be sent to his nation only but I have been sent to all mankind.
8. Which prophet was sent to India?
Regarding the question of which prophet was sent to India, and can we consider Ram or Krishna to be
prophets of God, there is no text in the Quran or Sahih Hadith mentioning the name of the prophet
that was sent to India. Since the names of Ram and Krishna are nowhere to be found in the Quran
and Sahih Hadith, one cannot say for sure whether they were prophets of God or not. Some Muslims,
especially certain Muslim politicians who try to appease the Hindus, say Ram Alai-his-salaam, i.e.
Ram, may peace be on him. This is totally wrong, since there is no authentic proof from the Quran

have been the prophets of God.
9. Even if Ram and Krishna were prophets, today we have to follow the last Prophet of God i.e.

Muslims have reached the higher level of consciousness

then only will he be able to excel in future for e.g. Teacher of mathematics in standard I teaches the
students that 2+2=4 irrespective whether the student parses school or does graduation, or does a Ph.D.
in mathematics the basics of 2+2=4, will yet remain the same, it will not change to 5 or 6. In higher
standards the students, besides addition may learn about Algebra, trigonometry, logarithm etc. but the
fundamental of addition will yet remain the same. If the teacher in standard I itself teaches the
fundamentals wrong, how can expect the student to excel in future?
It is the fundamental principle of the Vedas regarding the concept of God that he has got no image so
how can the scholars even after knowing this fact keep silent at the wrong practice being done by
people.
Will you tell your son who is in standard I that 2+2=4 is not equal to 4 but 5 or 6 and only confirm the
truth after he passes school. In fact if he makes a mistake you will correct him, and say it is 4 and not
wait till he graduates if you dont correct him initial you will his future.

Question:
Many non-Muslims allege when Islam is against idol worship why do the Muslims worship and bow
down to the Kaaba in their prayer.
Answer:
2. Kaaba is the Qibla i.e. the direction:
Muslims do not worship the Kaaba in the Salaah. Kaaba is the Qibla that is the direction we face
towards and we worship & bow down to no one but Allah towards in the Salaah, Islam always
believes in unity for e.g. If Muslims want to offer Salaah some may say lets face north, some may
say lets east for the sake of unity Muslims are asked to face only in one direction i.e. towards the
Kaaba. If they live in the west they face the east, if they live in the east they face the west, if they live
in the north they face the south, if they live in the south they face the north.

Question:
If Allah has sent his books and revelations in every period, then which revelation was sent to India?
Can we consider the Vedas and other Hindu scriptures to be word of God?
Answer:
1. Revelation sent in every period.
The Glorious Quran mentions in Surah Rad,
For each period is a book (revealed).
[Al-Quran 13:38]
2. Four revelations of God mentioned by name in Quran
By name, only four revelations of God are mentioned in the Quran i.e. Torah, Zaboor, Injeel and the
Quran
Torah is the revelation, which was given to Moses (pbuh)
Zaboor is the revelation, which was given to David (pbuh)
Injeel is the revelation, which was given to Jesus (pbuh) and
Quran is the last and final revelation which
which was given to the last and final Messenger Muhammad
(pbuh).
All the previous revelations sent only for their people
All the revelations that came before Quran were only sent for their own people and were to be
followed only for a particular time period.
The Quran sent for whole humankind
Since the Quran is the last and final revelation, it was not sent only for the Muslims or the Arabs but
it was sent for the whole of humankind. It is mentioned in:

Even if the Veda was the word of God today you have to follow the Quran
Even if the Vedas and the other scriptures were the revelations from God, they were only meant for
people of that time and were to be followed only for that particular period of time. Today all human
beings throughout the world including India should only follow the last and final Revelation of God,
i.e. the Quran. Moreover since all the previous revelations were not meant to be followed for
eternity, Almighty God did not preserve them in their original form. There is not a single religious
scripture of any of the major religions, which claims to be the word of God and has maintained its
pure original text and is free from alteration, adulteration and interpolation. Since the Glorious

3. Purity of Gold is not verified by calling it by different names in different languages but rubbing it
against a Touchstone.
In the same way, gold can be called sona in Hindi, gold in English, dhahaba in Arabic. Inspite of knowing
all these different names for gold, if a person wants to sell you his gold jewellery and says this is 24 carat
pure sona, you will not blindly believe, without verifying it with a goldsmith. The goldsmith confirms
whether it is gold or not with the help of a touchstone. The yellow glittering jewellery may not be gold,
because all that glitters is not gold.
4. Surah Ikhlas is the Touchstone of Theology.
Similarly, any person or candidate who is called God cannot be accepted as the true God without
verifying him with the touchstone. The touchstone of theology, that is study of God, is Surah Ikhlas
chapter 112 of the Holy Quran which says:
"Say, He is Allah, The One and Only; Allah, The Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not Nor is He begotten;
and there is none like unto Him.
[Al-Quran 112:1-4]
5. Any candidate who passes the Acid test can be called God.
Any candidate, who claims to be God and fits in this four line definition, passes the Acid test, is entitled
to be called God and worshipped as God.
Suppose a lunatic says that Muhammad (pbuh) is God, (God forbid). Lets put him to the test of Surah
Ikhlas.
i. "Kul hu allah hu ahad" Say He is Allah, The One and Only;
Is Muhammad (pbuh) one and only? No! he was not the only messenger. There were many other
messengers.
ii. "Allah hus Samad" Allah, The Eternal, Absolute;
We know that Muhammad (pbuh) had to undergo many hardships. Though he was the mightiest
messenger of God, he died at the age of 63 and was buried in Madeenah.
iii. "Lam ya lid wa lam yulad" He begetteth not Nor is He begotten;
We know that he was born in Makkah and his parents were Abdullah and Aaminah. He even had several
children e.g. Fatimah, Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with them), etc.

iv. "Wa lam ya kullahu kufuwan ahad" And there is none like unto Him.
Though all the Muslims love and revere the Prophet (pbuh) and are supposed to follow each and every of
his commandments, yet you will not find a single Muslim in the whole world, who in his senses will ever
say that Muhammad (pbuh) is God. The Islamic Creed is, "La illaha illallah Muhammadur Rasoolullah",
which means that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad (pbuh) is the messenger of Allah. This is
repeated five times a day during the call for prayer, so that the Muslims are reminded daily that although
they respect and obey him, he is only a Messenger and servant of God, and not God Himself.
7. Hinduism is the oldest of all the religions and thus the, most pure, authentic
and best of all the religions of the world.?
1. Islam is the oldest religion
Hinduism is not the oldest of all the religions. It is Islam which is the first and the oldest of all religions.
People have a misconception that Islam is 1400 years old and that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the
founder of this religion. Islam existed since time immemorial, ever since man first set foot on this earth.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was not the founder of Islam. He was the last and final Messenger of
Almighty God.
2. The oldest religion need not be the purest and the most authentic religion
A religion cannot be claimed to be most pure and authentic, only on the criterion that it is the oldest. It is
similar to a person saying that the water he has kept in an open glass, in his house, outside the
refrigerator, for three months is purer than the water which has just been collected in a clean glass,
immediately after it has been purified.
3. The latest religion need not be the purest and the most authentic religion
On the other hand a religion cannot be claimed to be the purest or authentic, only on the criterion that the
religion is new or the latest. A bottle of distilled water which is sealed, packed and kept in the refrigerator
for three months is much purer than a bottle of water freshly collected from the sea.

4. For religion to be pure and authentic, it should not have interpolations, changes and revisions in
its scriptures revealed from God
For any religion to be pure and authentic, its scriptures should not contain any interpolation, addition,
deletion or revision. Moreover the religions source of inspiration and direction should be Almighty God.
The Quran is the only religious scripture on the face of the earth which has been maintained it its original
form. All the other religious scriptures, of all the other religions have interpolations, additions, deletions
or revisions. The Quran has been in the memory of a multitude of people, intact in its original form ever
since its revelation, and now there are hundreds of thousands of people who have preserved it in their
memory. Moreover, if you compare the copies made by Caliph Uthman from the original Quran which is
yet present in the museum in Tashkent and in Koptaki museum in Turkey, they are the same as the ones
we possess today.
Allah (swt) promises in the Quran, in Surah Al Hijr, chapter 15 verse 9
"We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption)."
5. The oldest religion need not be best religion
A religion cannot be claimed to be the best religion only on the criterion that it is the oldest. It is similar
to a person saying, that my 19th century car is better than a Toyota car manufactured in 1998, because it
is older. He would be considered to be a fool to say that his 19th century car which required a rod to be
turned in circles to start it, is better than a key-start 1998 Toyota car, just because it is older.
6. The latest religion need not be the best religion
On the other hand a religion cannot be called as the best religion only on the criterion that the religion is
new or that it came later. It is similar to a person who says that my 800 cc Suzuki car manufactured in
1999 is better than a 5000 cc Mercedes 500 SEL manufactured in 1997. To judge which car is better, a
person should compare the specifications of the car e.g. the power of the car, safety measures, the
capacity of the cylinders, the pickup, the speed, the comfort, etc. 5000 cc Mercedes, 500 SEL car
manufactured in 1997, is far superior and better than a 800 cc Suzuki (Maruti Suzuki 800) manufactured
in 1999.
7. A religion is best, if it has the solutions to the problems of mankind
For a religion to be considered the best, it should have the solution to all the problems of mankind. It
should be the religion of truth, and should be applicable to all ages. Islam is the only religion which has
the solution to all the problems of mankind. e.g. the problem of alcoholism, surplus women, rape and
molestation, robbery, racism, casteism, etc.
Islam is the religion of truth, and its laws and solutions are applicable to all the ages. The Quran is the
only religious book on the face of the earth, which has maintained its purity and authenticity proving itself
to be the word of God in all the ages. i.e. previously, when it was the age of miracles, literature and poetry
and in present times when it is the age of science and technology. Moreover, Islam is not a man-made
religion, but a religion revealed and inspired by Almighty God. It is the only religion acceptable in His
Sight.

8. Why do Muslims bury dead bodies instead of cremating them, i.e. burning
them?
1. Components of human body present in the soil
Elements that are present in the human body are present in lesser or greater quantity in the soil. Hence it
is more scientific to bury a dead body, as it easily gets decomposed and mixed in the soil.
2. No Pollution
Cremating (burning) the dead body leads to pollution of the atmosphere which is detrimental to health and
harmful for the environment. There is no such pollution caused by burying a dead body.
3. Surrounding land becomes fertile
To cremate a dead body several trees have to be chopped, which reduces the greenery and harms the
environment and the ecology. When dead bodies are buried, besides the trees being saved, the
surrounding land becomes fertile and it improves the environment.
4. Economical
It is expensive to cremate a dead body when tons of wood have to be burned. Annually there is a loss of
crores of rupees, only because dead bodies are cremated in India. Burying dead bodies is very cheap. It
hardly costs any money.
5. Same land can be utilised for burying another body
The wood used for cremating a dead body cannot be reutilised for cremating another dead body since it
gets converted to ashes. The land used for burying a dead body can be reutilised for burying another body
after a few years since the human body gets decomposed and mixed in the soil.

9. Why do the Muslim married women not put bindi or tika on the forehead
and wear Mangalsutra, like Hindu married women? Why do the Muslim
married women not put bindi or tika on the forehead and wear Mangalsutra,
like Hindu married women?
1. Bindi or tika
Bindi is derived from the Sanskrit word bindu, which means a dot. It is usually a red dot made with
vermilion powder and is worn by the Hindu women between their eyebrows on their forehead.
Bindi is considered a symbol of Parvati and signifies female energy which is believed by Hindus to
protect women and their husbands. It is traditionally a symbol of marriage and is worn by the Hindu
married women. It is also called as tika.
2. Bindi has become a fashion
Nowadays, wearing bindi has become a fashion and is even worn by unmarried girls and women. The
shape of the bindi is no longer restricted to a dot and is available in various shapes, including oval, star,
heart shaped, etc. It is even available in different bright colours like blue, green, yellow, orange, etc. The
material of the bindi is no longer restricted to vermilion powder, but is made of coloured felt and other
material. It is also available in a variety of designs in combination with coloured glass, glitter, etc.
3. Mangalsutra
Mangalsutra means a thread of good-will. It is a necklace worn specially by Hindu married women as a
symbol of their marriage. It consists of two strings of black beads with a pendant usually of gold. The
black beads are believed to act as a protection against evil. It is believed to protect the womens marriage
and the life of her husband. In southern India, mangalsutra is called tali, which is a small gold ornament
string on a cotton cord or a gold chain.
Hindu Married women are never supposed to remove their mangalsutra. It is only cut off when a Hindu
lady becomes a widow.
4. Allah Is the Protector
Allah (swt), our Creator, is the best to protect human beings. We do not require any red dot or black
thread to protect us from evil. It is mentioned in the Glorius Quran in Surah Anam Chapter 6 verse 14
"Say: Shall I take for my protector any other than Allah, the Maker of the heavens and the earth?"
[Al-Quran 6:14]
It is mentioned in several places in the Glorius Quran including
Surah Ali Imran Chapter 3 Verse 150 and Surah Alhajj Chapter 22 Verse 78
"Allah is your Protector, and He is the best of helpers."
Wearing a bindi or mangalsutra signifies a lack of faith in Almighty God, our Creator, who is the best to
protect.

10. Why do Muslims take the name of Emperor Akbar while calling people to
pray?
1. Non Muslim misunderstand that Emperor Akbars name is taken in Adhaan
Once, when I attended a conference in Kerala, a non-Muslim minister spoke just before my speech. He
was highlighting the achievements of the Indian Muslims and their role in the progress of India. He said
that amongst the Indian kings, the greatest was Emperor Akbar. No wonder the Muslims take his name
five times a day, while calling people to pray. During my speech however, I clarified this misconception.
2. The Akbar word of the Adhaan has nothing to do with Emperor Akbar
The word Akbar mentioned in the Adhaan which is given to call people to pray has nothing to do with
Emperor Akbar of India. The words in the Adhaan were used centuries before the birth of Emperor Akbar.
3. Akbar means Great
The Arabic word Akbar means great. When we say Allahu Akbar in the Adhaan we proclaim that
Allah is Great or Allah is the Greatest and we call people to worship the one and only Allah who is the
Greatest.

11. When Muslims in India insist on having a separate Muslim Personal Law
for themselves, why dont they also insist on implementing the Islamic
Criminal Law for the Muslims; for example implementing the rule that the
robbers hands should be chopped off if a Muslim robs?
1. Muslim Personal Law
Personal Law is a law concerning an individual person and the persons closely related to him, e.g. laws
relating to marriage, divorce, inheritance, etc. It includes laws which are mutually agreed upon by a group
of people. This law does not include any crime or an act that will harm the society directly.
2. India is Secular And Democratic
In any country, the Personal Law may differ for different groups of people and for different communities.
Since India is a secular and democratic country it allows different groups of people to follow their own
personal law if they wish.
3. Islamic Personal Law is the Best
Muslims believe that compared to all the different types of personal laws available in the world, the best
and the most result oriented is the Islamic Personal Law. Muslims of India prefer following the Muslim
personal law also because of their own belief in Islam.
4. Criminal Law
Criminal law is that law which is associated with a crime or an act which directly affects the society e.g.
robbing, raping, murdering, etc.
5. The Criminal Law should be the same for all people
In any country, the criminal law unlike the Personal Law cannot be different for different groups of
people. It has to be same for all people of different groups and different religions e.g. In Islam if a person
robs, his hands are chopped off. This punishment is not prescribed in Hinduism. If a Hindu robs a
Muslim, what would be the robbers punishment? The Muslim would want the hands of the robber to be
chopped, while the Hindu Law would not agree.
6. The Muslims in India alone cannot separately follow the Islamic Criminal Law without involving
the Non-Muslims
Even if a Muslim agrees, that as far as he commits a crime he should be given the punishment according
to Islamic Criminal Law, it would not be practical. In case an allegation is made against a Muslim for
robbery and if the witnesses are Non-Muslims, and if each one follows his own Criminal Law, the
punishment in Islam for bearing false witness is 80 lashes, whereas in the Indian Crimial Law, a person
giving false witness can easily escape. Thus, for a non-Muslim to falsely accuse a Muslim of any crime is
very easy, if both follow their own criminal law. However, if both follow the Indian Law where the

punishment is lenient for false witnesses and robbers, it will encourage both the robber to rob as well as
encourage the witnesses to give false witness for their own benefit.
7. The Muslims in India would prefer the Islamic Criminal Law to be implemented on all Indians
We Muslims would prefer that in India the Islamic Criminal Law be implemented on all the Indians,
since, chopping the hands of a thief will surely reduce the rate of robbery in India. Similarly, 80 lashes for
giving false testimony will prevent a person from giving false witness.
8. Islamic Criminal Law is Most Practical
Islam besides pointing out a crime, it also gives you a solution showing how to prevent the crime e.g.
chopping the hands of a robber, death penalty for the rapist. The punishment is so severe that it is a
deterrent for the criminal to commit the crime. He will think a hundred times before committing a crime.
Thus if crime has to be reduced or stopped in India the best solution is to implement The Common
Islamic Criminal Law.
12. WHY MUSLIM WOMEN NOT ALLOWED PRAYING (SALAH) OR WORSHIP DURING
MENSTRUATION PERIOD? ITS A NATURAL PHASE OF LIFE.
ANS: Allah our creator, he knows better than everyone in the world, if you know that during the me
menstrual cycle period, today science tell us that
A woman during her menstrual period, she undergoes certain behavioral, mental and psychological
changes, due to the release of the sex hormonestogene. And these changes, surely, she is mentally
disturb and according to the statistic tells us that the majority of the crime done by women is during the
menses. If she prays(salah) in Islam we adopt several postures, like Kayam, Rukhu, Sujud - standing,
bowing and prostration and concentration in prayers(salah) surely its impossible to her perform
prayers(salah) in proper method.
Q: Because it is a natural phase.
for example ; if a person suffering from sickness and he went to the doctor and after examine him , he
gave him a advice that dont eat this, this .Food till you become fine , if you think ? Normally human
being got sick its natural you know , so why we should not eat such food? (which doctor prohibited), if
you dont follow the doctor advice , you will become more sick then actually you going against the
nature of the humans , Allah is our creator he knows us better than all doctor put together all the times,
