TheissuehereinthisarticleisthatmanypeoplearefeelingthatHarvardisntbeingfairwith
theiradmissions.Asmanypeopleknow,HarvardisoneofthetopschoolsinAmerica.
AfricanAmericanswhoattendHarvardtendtobethetopstudentsattheiruniversity.Ithas
beensaidthatHarvardisbeingharderonAsianAmericansandCaucasianswhenitcomesto
themapplyingtogetintotheirschool.ThewriterfeelsthatHarvardisonlytryingtoaccept
thebestofthebestandnotnecessarilyintentionallybeingracisttowardsotherracesoutside
ofAfricanAmericanstudents.MyinquiryfocusedonwhyAfricanAmericanstudentsfeel
theneedtohavegroupsoftheirownandorganizationsoncampusatPWIs.Thisarticleties
intomyinquirybecausenowtheshoehasbeenplacedontheotherfoot.AfricanAmerican
studentsseemtohavetheupperhandatHarvardwhereasatmanyotheruniversities,African
Americanstudentsfeelasiftheydontgetthesameopportunitiesasothers.Whyisracestill
suchabigissuewithinschoolsystems?Orarestudentsofthistimeandagedoingitto
themselvesbystillbeingdividedandnottotallycomingtogetherasone?

Thisarticleaddressestheracialtensiononcollegecampuses.Theincidentsthatoccurred
withinthisarticlearethingsthathappenonadailybasisallaroundtheworld,Imsure.The
authorofthearticledidntcompletelytakeasidebutbasicallywentalongthelinesofsaying
thatschoolsneedtomonitorthethingsthataregoingonbetweentheirstudents.Therewere
manycountswerewhitestudentswerebelittlingtheirpeerswhowereofdifferentraces.This
goesontoomuchthroughoutcollegecampuses.Onestudentwrotethatshewastoldthatshe
onlygotacceptedtherebecausetheyneedthestatistics.Thisreallyhitanerveforsome
reason.IsthiswhyIgotacceptedtothePWIthatIchosetoattend?AmIafillerforthepiece
ofdiversitythatisneededhereoncampus?Thisstatementstirredupanotherquestioninme.
Doesuniversitiesacceptpeoplesometimesstrictlybecauseoftheirrace?

beequallyasqualifiedforthejob,itdidntmatter.Workingthroughthisissueistheauthors
concerns.Socialworkhascomealongwayfromitspasthistory.Whatcanbedonetoensure
thateveryoneistreatedfairlywithintheirworkforce?Whatwillmakepeoplestopbeingbias
ontheirjob?Questionsthatneedtobelookedintodeeper.
