service your Aquaguard i-Nova on your own.
But thats not all, your Aquaguard i-Nova also has an Intelligence Quotient Alert
System (IQA) which tells you in advance that your filters and UV lamp need
replacement. Enabling you to inform your Aquaguard service representative ahead
of schedule.
This manual contains detailed information and tells you everything you need to

The new Aquaguard i-Nova features high design values and marks a leap in

The Micro Controller Scan System


or the Mini Brain
The Aquaguard i-Nova comes with a built-in Micro-controller which acts as a
mini brain and constantly monitors the status of your purifier. This next generation
technology automatically detects when the electronic circuit
requires service attention and has the provision to alert the
Central Monitoring System network* (service centre) using
your existing phone line for immediate assistance. That means, you will find the
service technician at your doorstep to inspect the system without you having to do
anything, saving you time and effort.
To activate this mini brain, you need to connect the Aquaguard i-Nova to the
CMS or the Central Monitoring System network (service centre).
What is Central Monitoring System (CMS)?
A service product from Eurovigil Security Shield - our Electronic Security
Division, its exclusive to Eurovigil customers. It monitors the protected zones of
your premises electronically 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In case of an alarm it
contacts the Eurovigil Central Monitoring System through your phone line.

Whats more, even if you are not a Eurovigil customer, you can use the Aquaguard

i-Nova. You can connect it to the CMS network if and when you upgrade your home
under the Eurovigil electronic security monitoring.
Eurovigil Securi-T-Link
Your Connection Kit to Eurovigil Security Shield
The Securi-T-Link is your connection to the Security Shield. An advanced intrusion
detection system, using state-of-the-art technology for total security. Magnetic contact installed on your doors for safety, ensures that when your doors are shut, your
home remains secure and in case of any attempted break-ins, the alarm sounds. Panic
switches with the system provide extra security in case of unwanted forced intrusions.
The entire system is linked up to our Central Monitoring System (CMS), for roundthe-clock monitoring. And a backup battery keeps Securi-T-Link working even in case
of a power failure. To make things even safer, it comes with a special key to arm or
disarm the system.

Your Aquaguard i-Nova comes with a series of user-friendly features keeping
you in mind. Making it easier for you to use and maintain it.

The Pre-filter and Carbon filters are easily accessible with the release of a latch.

The Sediment and Carbon filter caps are easily removable with the help of a
spanner, provided with the system.

Sediment and Carbon filter cartridges have integrated flap with eye-hole which
makes it easy for you to pull them out of the chamber.

The Sediment filter has a back-flush arrangement so that the filter can be
cleaned without removing it from the bowl.

CAUTION: The electrical system is NOT user serviceable. Only authorised service
personnel must handle the electrical related parts.

Meet the microchip


that cares for your family
Your Aquaguard i-Nova also features the Intelligence Quotient Alert System
(IQA). A system that informs you in advance about the need to replace sediment
filter, Activated Carbon Block and UV lamp, which means, zero-waiting period and
the assurance that your Aquaguard i-Nova will never
let you down.
How does the IQA work?
The IQA is a memory chip that tracks the life of the sediment filter, Activated
Carbon Block (Chlorine and Organic filter) and UV lamp. The rated life for
the pre-filter and Activated Carbon Block is 120 hours of usage (water flow), while
the UV lamp has a life of 5000 hours. The IQA system is tamper-proof and
defect resistant.
IQA indications:
Sediment filter and Activated Carbon Block replacements will be indicated by a
beep repeated six times with a pause of 2 minutes. This cycle is then repeated every
time water is drawn until replacements have been done.
2 beeps indicate the need for replacement of UV lamp. These
indications will continue till the service technician has carried out
the replacements.

pre-filtration system, making it convenient and easy to use.
Besides, its sleek design and extensive use of ABS plastic makes it

Tactile Switches: Two touch sensitive switches
ensure smooth operation of the system.
Convenient Water Tray: The specially designed water tray
supports your glass/jug. It is detachable and has drain facility, so
any spillage is easily disposable.
LED Indicators: Three user friendly indicators guide you through the
purification process. So you know exactly when your Aquaguard

Improved Filtration: Aquaguard i-Nova boasts of a 10 inch
Poly Propylene yarn (PP yarn) wound multilayered sediment filter.
This depth filter with a nominal porosity of 5 microns and back
flush facility ensures improved filtration and longer life. The PP
yarn wound multilayered sediment filter cartridge materials are
among the best filter technologies in the world.
Improved Activated Carbon Purification: Special compression moulded powdered
activated carbon (Activated Carbon Block) has Silver-free, QAC
based anti-microbial shield with technology from Aegis, USA
with bacteriostatic property which removes over 95%.

Longer Life:

Improved flow rate: The product has been designed to deliver at
the rate of 2 litres per minute* (maximum).
Auto Shut off: If the unit is left ON and no water is drawn for
more than 10 minutes, the UV lamp automatically shuts off, thus
saving on power consumption. Auto shut-off condition is
indicated by blinking of the green light.
Convenient In-Built Flush System: During installation and
replacement of Activated Carbon Block, the flush system can be
used. This is also helpful to flush the stagnated water if the
product is not in use for 2-3 days. All you need to do is to

the music switch and then press the power switch. Continue to
keep the music switch pressed for 10 seconds.

After 10 seconds the green and

yellow light start blinking with beeps and water flows from the outlet spout. Music
switch may be released after flushing starts.

Continue flushing for at least three

minutes or till the water becomes clear.

After flushing

operation, switch the power off.


Caution: Do not consume flushed water.
Back Flush Facility: Additional Back Flush Facility for PolyPropylene yarn candle ensures longer life.
Low Voltage Cut-off: When main supply voltage falls below
the operating voltage range, the unit shuts off the water
supply and the yellow light blinks with alarm beeps, indicating
low voltage condition. This ensures product safety and reliability during voltage
fluctuations. When normal voltage level is restored, the unit automatically recovers
and normal function is restored.

Installing your Aquaguard i-Nova


Being compact, Aquaguard i-Nova is easy to install and saves you a lot of kitchen
space.

free of cost.
All you need is a standard 220/230 V supply and a 6 amp electrical point of 3 pin
type and properly earthed.

Wall Mounted Installation

Note: It is a wall mounted model. But at an extra cost, you can also opt for
the counter-top option.

Counter Top Installation (Optional)

Note: In case the water pressure in your area is lower than the minimum
specified, we recommend the use of a suitable domestic water pump. If the
pressure is higher than the maximum specified, use of the pressure reducing
valve is recommended.

Aquaguard i-Nova - The purification process


Aquaguard i-Nova is the most advanced water purification system using the 3 stage
purification process (please refer to the diagram on page 10).
The Aquaguard i-Nova has:
a)

A PP yarn wound Multilayered Sediment Filter

b)

Activated Carbon Block (Chlorine and Organic Filter)

c)

The Ultraviolet (UV) Chamber with the Electronic Monitoring System (EMS).

The Aquaguard i-Nova functions effectively with the following stages.


STAGE - 1
The PP Yarn Sediment Filter
The water first passes through the Sediment filter (please refer to the diagram on
page 10) which incorporates a Poly-Propylene yarn wound type depth filter cartridge
which strains out physical impurities present in the water, such as dust, dirt and mud.
STAGE - 2
Activated Carbon Block (Chlorine and Organic Filter)
In this stage, the water passes through specially treated, bacteriostatic Activated
Carbon Block which adsorbs colour, odour, organic impurities and chlorine.
Its Bacteriostatic property helps preventing bacterial growth on activated carbon and
removes chlorination by-products (carcinogens), pesticides, herbicides and lead from
water as per NSF -53 standards.
Besides its state-of-the-art decalcification system minimises scale formation in the
system and ensures reliable operation.
STAGE - 3
Ultra Violet Chamber
The last stage is disinfection where the water is subjected to the ultraviolet radiation
treatment which is a proven method world over for eliminating water borne disease
causing bacteria and viruses. In fact, Aquaguard i-Novas UV germicidal dosage, even at
its lowest, is 120% of that required to destroy all known water borne disease causing
micro-organisms giving you just absolutely safe drinking water.

Electronic Monitoring System (EMS)


While the water is completely purified after the above 3
stages, Aquaguard i-Nova has one more benefit. A unique
Electronic Monitoring System which monitors the purification
process. It stops the flow of water immediately, if the level of purification is inadequate.
So you see, the Aquaguard i-Nova is a complete water purification system which ensures
that you get clear, bacteriologically safe drinking water at all times.

Step-by-step guide to safe drinking water

1. Fit the plug into a 3 - pin power


socket and ensure that the socket is
easily accessible.

2. To switch on the unit, press the


Power switch. The red light will glow
for 6 seconds indicating that the
power is on. Soon the yellow light will
glow for 26 seconds indicating its
processing the water.

3. When the green light glows youll


hear 3 beeps indicating that the
unit is ready to deliver clear, safe
drinking water.

4. To let the water flow, press the


Water ( ) switch gently.

5. While you fill your glass you can


opt for a pleasant musical tune by
pressing Music ( ) switch.

6. If the unit has not been used for a


day or two allow 2-3 glasses of
water to flow out before using
the water.

Note : In case the unit is not functioning properly, the red LED starts blinking and an alarm buzzer sounds.
If water is not drawn for more than 10 minutes, the unit automatically goes into auto shut-off mode and
green light blinks. To restart, press the Water ( ) switch. In cold ambient temperature the unit is likely to
take more time to come to ready state. During the delay yellow light continues to glow.

How to maintain your Aquaguard i-Nova


The maintenance required for your Aquaguard i-Nova is minimal. Should there be
any problems, the unit is designed to switch off automatically, ensuring that you always
get clear, safe drinking water. With proper care, you can ensure that your Aquaguard
i-Nova performs effectively. Here are some important rules that you should follow.

1. The key word is cleanliness


Dirt and small insects have a way of creeping into
any appliance. Keep the area around your Aquaguard
i-Nova clean and dry. Wipe the Aquaguard i-Nova
with a soft cloth once in a while. Keep the spout
clean and closed with the cap provided.

2. Maintaining your filters by periodic cleaning


To ensure that your sediment filter is long-lasting
you must have it thoroughly cleaned regularly by
back flushing the same. Go through the Instructions
given under the lid of your Aquaguard i-Nova.
How to back flush

Switch Off the unit, remove the 3-pin plug (power


cord) from socket.

Close the divertor valve. Bring down the unit,


if it is wall mounted.

Take out the back flush adapter cap from the back
flush adapter (See the sticker on the rear case).

Take out the nut & nozzle from the inlet


adapter.

Connect the nut & nozzle to the back flush


adapter.

Place the system in a corner of sink in such a way

that the water from the inlet adapter will fall


directly into the sink.

Open the divertor valve.

The sediment cartridge will start getting back


flushed.

Let the cartridge get flushed for 3-5 minutes or as


per the requirement.

Once the back flushing is over close the divertor


valve, take out the nut & nozzle from
the back flush adapter, connect it to the inlet
adapter, close, close the back flush adapter with
back flush adapter cap and hang the unit on to
the wall, if it is wall mounted.

Plug in the 3-pin plug into the socket, switch On


the unit and start using it.

3. Servicing the Activated Carbon Block


To ensure that your Activated Carbon Block works
effectively, insist on having it thoroughly cleaned by
our Serviceman at every visit.
Also do remember to have your sediment filter
and Activated Carbon Block replaced at least every
12 months (or when IQA alerts) by our Serviceman
or refer to steps as shown on page 15.

Replacement of filters

1. Disconnect water and the


water supply.

2. Dismount the unit from the


wall, place it conveniently on
a flat surface with suitable
support. Please note that it is
not possible to open the top lid
without dismounting the unit
from the wall.

3. Open the top lid by pressing the


lever next to outlet spout.

4. Unscrew the filter caps.

5. The cartridge can be removed by


pulling out the eye of the top cap
of cartridge.

6. Clean and replace the filters by


reversing the operation.

Reverse the operations of 4 to 1 for closing and reuse.

Clearing your doubts on Aquaguard i-Nova


Can one store water from Aquaguard i-Nova or use it directly?
Ideally, you should use water directly from the Aquaguard i-Nova. However,
if you need to store the water, make sure you rinse the bottles or containers first
with water from Aquaguard i-Nova and not with tap water. Even while drawing
water, remember to rinse the tumbler with water from Aquaguard i-Nova.
How long and where should one store the water?
Water from Aquaguard i-Nova should be stored in a cool, clean place, preferably
in steel or glass containers.
For hygienic reasons, its preferable to change the stored water within 2 days,
especially during summers and monsoons.
Does drinking water from Aquaguard i-Nova make you lose your natural
immunity?
Aquaguard i-Nova gives you clear, safe drinking water thus reducing the risk of
exposure to water borne diseases. It does not affect your bodys natural immunity in
any way.
Is UV (Ultra Violet) light dangerous and is drinking UV treated water
harmful?
Direct exposure of strong doses of UV light at a close range is dangerous.
However, in Aquaguard i-Nova the ultraviolet lamp is completely enclosed in an
anodised aluminium chamber and thus no UV light is allowed to escape.
Also, UV light has no residual effect in water and hence it is totally safe.
Does Aquaguard i-Nova work even if the voltage fluctuates?
Aquaguard i-Nova has superior electronics, with a built-in voltage stabilizer, thus
ensuring that your Aquaguard works even if the voltage goes down to as low as
160V.
Do you need to boil or filter water from the Aquaguard i-Nova?
Of course not. Aquaguard i-Nova is a complete purification system which gives
you clear, safe water. Just fill your glass and drink!
In fact excessive boiling may remove Calcium and Magnesium essential for the
human body.

your Aquaguard i-Nova in
matkas and candle filters,
as the water will get recontaminated.

7. We recommend servicing of
Aquaguard i-Nova at least
once in twelve months.

8. Do not use extension box for


power connections.

Warranty - Terms and Conditions


The goods are warranted against defects arising from faulty workmanship and materials for a period of 12
months from the date of sale. Subject to the following conditions.

The Customer will notify the Company in writing promptly of any defects noticed and give the Company or its authorised agent adequate opportunity to inspect, test and remedy them for which the
Customer will deposit the goods if so required by the Company with the Companys office/Service
Centre along with original invoice in the city/town where they are sold.
Inspection and Test Report of the Companys office/service centre will be final and binding under the
Warranty for determining defects, repairs/alterations required or carried out or certifying working of
the goods thereafter.
The Company or its authorised agent will be entitled to retain any defective part replaced under
the Warranty.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in or implied by this warranty.
The Companys liability under this Warranty shall be limited to the first sale of the goods by the Company to the Customer and will not apply or extend to any secondary or subsequent sale of goods by
the Customer.
The Companys liability under this Warranty shall be limited only to defects in the goods which occur
under the conditions of normal operation of the goods and their proper and prescribed use. This
Warranty does not cover or extend to defects which are determined by the Company or its authorised
agents as occurring or resulting from or attributable to negligence, abuse, misuse, faulty care, operation or maintenance or repairs, alterations to the goods or any part thereof by others.
The Companys liability under this Warranty shall remain valid only if, the goods are duly installed by
the Company or its authorised agent at the location specified in the Invoice or where the installation is
at a place other than specified in the Invoice, such installation is undertaken by the Company or its
authorised agent or franchisee.
Consumable items like Sediment Filter and Activated Carbon Block which are subject to normal wear
and tear are not covered by this warranty.
The Customer will have no claim against the Company, its employees and its authorised agents, franchisees under or pursuant to this Warranty in respect of death or injury to the Customer or any other
person or loss or damage to any property caused by usage or due to equipment failure breakdown or
accident or operation or utilisation of the goods other than what is expressly stated in this warranty
and in no case the Company will be liable for any consequential damages.
The Companys liability under this Warranty shall in no event and under no circumstances exceed the
price paid by the Customer for the goods stated in the Invoice.

General
For the purpose of this Warranty the following expressions shall have the following meanings respectively.
1. The goods shall mean the goods described in the Purchase Agreement.
2. The Customer shall mean the original purchaser of the Goods from the Company who is a party to the
Purchase Agreement.
3. The Company shall mean EUREKA FORBES LIMITED
4. The Purchase Agreement shall mean the General Terms and Conditions of Sale agreed upon by the
Customer and the Company as printed on the Invoice.
5. Invoice shall mean the invoice for the purchase of goods issued by the Company its franchisee or its
Dealer describing the goods and indicating inter alia the total purchase price thereof, the name of the
Customer and the place where the goods are to be installed.
6. User Guide shall mean the instructions for installation, use and maintenance contained in the leaflet
published by the Company and delivered to the Customer at the time of sale of the goods.

The Customer may be offered a yearly Service Contract at the prevailing company rates and terms.
In case the Customer does not wish to enter the Service Contract, he has the option of calling our
Service Centre and having his AQUAGUARD i - NOVA serviced on an actuals basis i.e. by paying for
Labour cost and Spares needed to attend to that Service/Complaint call at the prevailing Company
rates. Such service will be rendered by the Company in towns/places where the Company has its Service
Centres.
The Company will provide free servicing of the goods brought to its Service Centre by the customer,
provided that all expenses of transporting the goods to and from the Service Centre shall be borne by
the customer directly.
If during such servicing it is necessary for the Company to replace or repair defective components or
parts, the customer shall be required to pay for the same as per the Companys prevailing price list.
