MEET OUR LEADER:
LE X HES
A naturalist and wildlife photographer, Lex was born and educated in Johannesburg and has
been involved in the world of wildlife for over 25 years. Previously a guide at the world-famous
Londolozi Game Reserve, Lex is now a popular freelance nature guide who imparts his wealth
of knowledge of Africa’s ecosystems in an easygoing and friendly manner. He is an author and
nature photographer with five books to his credit—the highly acclaimed Leopards of Londolozi;
a children’s book called Bushschool; Attracting Birds to Your Garden in Southern Africa;
The Complete Book of Southern African Mammals; and Wild South Africa, about the biomes of
his native country. In addition to time spent in the Mpumalanga Lowveld and guiding visitors
around South Africa, Lex has been involved with biological work on the sub-Antarctic islands of
Amsterdam and Marion and leads tours to Kenya, Botswana, Zambia, Madagascar, and Namibia.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Travel will be mostly by small charter aircraft as well as and game-drive vehicles. Game drives
can be long and strenuous and over bumpy surfaces. For most activities, a relatively moderate
level of exertion is required.
Travelers should be aware that most nights on safari are spent in deluxe tented accommodations.
These tents are en suite and are designed to the highest standards, with hot and cold running
water and shower outlets in the adjoining bathroom area. You will find the tents spacious with
plenty of headroom. All of the safari camps we visit have separate lounge and bar areas that
often overlook waterways, which adds to the excitement and ambiance of being in the bush.
It should be noted, however, that there are no fences around the camps, and animals of all
sizes are sometimes encountered within the camp boundaries.
We will be in Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia during the summer season. Temperatures are
generally pleasant with ranges from 75°F – 85°F in Namibia and Botswana during the day,
but nights are much cooler. Temperatures in Zambia will be on average 10°F cooler overall.
There may be precipitation, especially in Zambia, so you’ll want to pack accordingly. We will
mail a complete list of recommended clothing and a suggested reading list to you approxi-
mately five months prior to departure.
A safari to these three countries represents some of the best diversity Africa has to offer.
Those travelers who possess a sense of humor, flexibility, and a true spirit of adventure will
remember their time there for many years.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
The acceptance of your reservation form and deposit by
Zegrahm Expeditions, Inc d/b/a Zegrahm Expeditions and
Eco-Expeditions, located at 192 Nickerson Street, Seattle, WA
98109 (hereinafter with its affiliates, owners, officers, agents
and employees collectively referred to as “ZE” or “Company”)
creates a contractual relationship between ZE and you, the
customer/participant in the travel package by ZE. Please
read the following information carefully. After reading the
terms and conditions located in this brochure, please visit
our Web site at www.zeco.com/terms to review the entire
set of terms and conditions for your expedition. In order
for your expedition reservation to be completed, you must
indicate your acceptance of the terms and conditions found
in this brochure and on www.zeco.com/terms by signing
your Reservation Form and returning it to the Company.
RESERVATIONS: 25% of the expedition fare, along with a
completed and signed Reservation Form, will reserve a place
for you on this ZE program. The balance of the expedition
fare is due 120 days prior to departure. Air fare is due at time
of issuance. All prices are quoted in U.S. dollars and must
be paid in U.S. dollars. Credit cards accepted for deposit only.
ZE reserves the right to decline to accept any individual as a
trip member for any reason whatsoever.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY: Notifica-
tion of cancellation must be received in writing by ZE. At
the time we receive your written cancellation, the following
penalties will apply:
• 120 days or more prior to departure: $500 per person
• 60 through 119 days prior to departure: 50% of expedition fare
• 1 through 59 days prior to departure: 100% of expedition fare
Some air fare may be nonrefundable. Once an expedition has
departed, there will be no refunds from ZE for any unused
portions of the trip. The above policy also applies to all
extensions and independent travel arrangements made in
conjunction with this program.
TRIP CANCELLATION AND INTERRUPTION
INSURANCE: We strongly advise that all travelers purchase
trip cancellation and interruption insurance as coverage
against a covered unforeseen emergency that may force you to
cancel or leave an expedition while it is in progress. A brochure
describing coverage will be sent to you upon receipt of your
reservation.
SHARE POLICY: Accommodations on all ZE programs
are based on double occupancy. If you are traveling alone and
wish to share accommodations, a roommate will be assigned
to you whenever possible. When pairing roommates, we will
always pair participants of the same sex. All shared accom-
modations are nonsmoking. If it is not possible to pair you
with a roommate, you may be asked to pay a single supplement
for the land portion of the program. For tours booked with
Eco-Expeditions only: upon booking you will be required
to pay a Single Supplement, if we are able to pair you with a
roommate the supplement will be refunded. Please note that
single accommodations are limited and cannot be guaranteed
throughout.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Participation in a ZE
program requires that you be in generally good health. It is
essential that persons with any medical problems and related
dietary restrictions make them known to us well before
departure. We can counsel you on whether the expedition you
have selected is appropriate for you. The tour leader has the
right to disqualify any participant at any time during the tour

if he or she feels the participant is physically incapable and/or
if a participant’s continued participation will jeopardize either
the individual involved or the group. There will be no refund
given under these circumstances.
RESPONSIBILITY: ZE is the qualified professional tour
operator that organizes and administers your expedition.
ZE acts only as the agent for any transportation carrier, hotel,
ground operator, or other suppliers of services connected
with this expedition (“other providers”), and the other
providers are solely responsible and liable for providing their
respective services. The passenger tickets in use by the carriers
shall constitute the sole contract between the carriers and
the passenger; the carriers are not responsible for any act,
omission, or event during the time tour participants are not
aboard their conveyance. ZE shall not be held liable for (A)
any damage to, or loss of, property or injury to, or death of,
persons occasioned directly or indirectly by an act or omission
of any other provider, including but not limited to any defect
in any aircraft, watercraft, or vehicle operated or provided by
such other provider, and (B) any loss or damage due to delay,
cancellation, or disruption in any manner caused by the laws,
regulations, acts or failures to act, demands, orders, or interpo-
sitions of any government or any subdivision or agent thereof,
or by acts of God, strikes, fire, flood, war, rebellion, terrorism,
insurrection, sickness, quarantine, epidemics, theft, or any
other cause(s) beyond their control. The participant waives any
claim against ZE for any such loss, damage, injury, or death.
By registering for the expedition, the participant certifies that
he/she does not have any mental, physical, or other condition
or disability that would create a hazard for him/herself or
other participants. ZE reserves the right in their sole discretion
to accept, decline to accept, or remove any participant on an
expedition and reserves the right without notice to withdraw
any part or all of the trip and to make such changes as may
be necessary. ZE shall not be liable for any air carrier’s cancel-
lation penalty incurred by the purchase of a nonrefundable
ticket to or from the departure city of the expedition. Baggage
and personal effects are at all times the sole responsibility
of the traveler.

the camp’s flood plains via mekoros (dug-out
canoes) guided by polers from the BaYei tribe,
who have been using them as their traditional
form of transport for hundreds of years. Water
levels permitting, boats take us into the larger
and deeper areas of water while 4x4 vehicles
allow us to get in proximity to animals in the
savanna areas. This is possibly the only area in
the Okavango where one can see red lechwe from
a mokoro in the morning and a sable antelope
from a vehicle in the afternoon. Other wildlife
sightings may include lion, leopard, elephant,
buffalo, and various species of antelope.

After breakfast we depart Ongava by charter
flight to Vumbura Plains Camp via Grootfontein
and Maun. Vumbura lies in the extreme north
of the Okavango Delta.
The Okavango Delta’s waters allow us to explore
the camp’s flood plains via mekoros (dug-out
canoes) guided by polers from the BaYei tribe,
who have been using them as their traditional
form of transport for hundreds of years. Water
levels permitting, boats take us into the larger
and deeper areas of water while 4x4 vehicles
allow us to get in proximity to animals in the
savanna areas. This is possibly the only area in
the Okavango where one can see red lechwe from
a mokoro in the morning and a sable antelope
from a vehicle in the afternoon. Other wildlife
sightings may include lion, leopard, elephant,
buffalo, and various species of antelope.

been involved in the world of wildlife for over 25 years. Previously a guide at the world-famous
Londolozi Game Reserve, Lex is now a popular freelance nature guide who imparts his wealth
of knowledge of Africa’s ecosystems in an easygoing and friendly manner. He is an author and
nature photographer with five books to his credit—the highly acclaimed Leopards of Londolozi;
a children’s book called Bushschool; Attracting Birds to Your Garden in Southern Africa;

WHAT TO EXPECT
Travel will be mostly by small charter aircraft as well as and game-drive vehicles. Game drives
can be long and strenuous and over bumpy surfaces. For most activities, a relatively moderate
level of exertion is required.
Travelers should be aware that most nights on safari are spent in deluxe tented accommodations.
These tents are en suite and are designed to the highest standards, with hot and cold running
water and shower outlets in the adjoining bathroom area. You will find the tents spacious with
plenty of headroom. All of the safari camps we visit have separate lounge and bar areas that
often overlook waterways, which adds to the excitement and ambiance of being in the bush.
It should be noted, however, that there are no fences around the camps, and animals of all
sizes are sometimes encountered within the camp boundaries.
We will be in Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia during the summer season. Temperatures are
generally pleasant with ranges from 75°F – 85°F in Namibia and Botswana during the day,
but nights are much cooler. Temperatures in Zambia will be on average 10°F cooler overall.
There may be precipitation, especially in Zambia, so you’ll want to pack accordingly. We will
mail a complete list of recommended clothing and a suggested reading list to you approxi-
mately five months prior to departure.
A safari to these three countries represents some of the best diversity Africa has to offer.

claim against ZE for any such loss, damage, injury, or death.
By registering for the expedition, the participant certifies that
he/she does not have any mental, physical, or other condition
or disability that would create a hazard for him/herself or
other participants. ZE reserves the right in their sole discretion
to accept, decline to accept, or remove any participant on an
expedition and reserves the right without notice to withdraw
any part or all of the trip and to make such changes as may
be necessary. ZE shall not be liable for any air carrier’s cancel-
lation penalty incurred by the purchase of a nonrefundable
ticket to or from the departure city of the expedition. Baggage
and personal effects are at all times the sole responsibility
of the traveler.

AIR FARE: A tentative flight schedule is available upon request. Eco-Expeditions will contact
you approximately 180 days prior to the departure of this program to finalize your flight plans.
As of February 2010, the approximate economy air fare as listed in the itinerary is $1,675 for
New York/Johannesburg/Windhoek – Lusaka/Johannesburg/New York. Additional fares from
other cities will be quoted as needed.

LUGGAGE RESTRICTIONS: Due to restrictions on the charter flights within this program,
baggage is restricted to 15 kilograms (33 pounds) total, per person.

All rates are per person, quoted in U.S. dollars, and must be paid in U.S. dollars. Rates and itineraries
are subject to change.
