A longitudinal fissure separates the human brain into two

distinct cerebral hemisphere, connected by the corpus callosum.

The sides resemble each other and the other side generally mirrors
each hemispheres structure. Yet despite the strong similarities, the
functions of each cortical hemisphere are different.
Popular psychology tends to make broad and sometimes
pseudoscientific generalizations about certain functions being
lateral, that is, located in either the right or the left side of the brain.
Researchers often criticize popular psychology for this, because the
popular lateralization is often distributed across both hemispheres,
although mental processing is divided between them.
Fundamental to brain process lateralization is the fact that the
lateral sulcus generally is longer in the left hemisphere than in the
right hemisphere. The extent of specialized brain function by area
remains under investigation. If a specific region of the brain is either
injured or destroyed, a neighboring region, even in the opposite
hemisphere, depending upon the area damaged and the patients
age, can sometimes recover its function.
Brain function laterization is evident in the phenomena of right
or left-handedness and of right or left ear preference, but a persons
preferred hand is not a clear indication of the location of brain
function. Although 95% of right- language function. Additionally,
19.8% of the left-handed have brilliant bilateral language function.

In the 1930s, Chester F. Carlson was working in the patents

department of a large electronics firm in New York City. One of the
major problems in his work was the length of time and expense
involved in getting patents copied, patents were lengthy legal
documents, and the only ways to get them copied were to take
them to a typist or to take them to a photographer. Either way of
copying patents took a lot of time and cost a lot of money.
He came up with the idea for a machine that would copy
documents quickly and efficiently. He researched the idea in the
library and then worked over a three-year period on developing a
machine that used a light, an electrostatically charged plate and
powder to duplicate images on paper. The result of this work was a
machine that produced the first xerographic copy on October 22nd
1983. He named the process Xerox which means, dry writing.
Carlson felt that he had a good idea, one that would be
extremely helpful in the business world. He tried to sell his idea to a
number of large corporations, but they were not terribly interested
in his machine. A few years later he sold the process to a small
family-owned company. This small family grew into the giant Xerox
Corporations, and both Carlson and Xerox became rather wealthy in
the process.
