1.0 Introduction
1.1 Purpose
We propose to research and produce a report on dictionary highlighter name as
Lexicon. Dictionary highlighter should be launched for the convenience of
students of all age. They can check the meaning of words in any types of
languages using the highlighter. This highlighter has to connect to application
in smart-phones in order to function.
1.2 Background
What is dictionary and why should we use a dictionary?
Research has shown that the better your vocabulary, the better your chance
succeeding in your studies. Using dictionaries is an excellent way of building
your vocabulary and every student should own and use at least one good
dictionary. (recorded by open polytechnic)
Even if one thinks that a dictionary must be called a dictionary, Johnson was
beaten to that punch by well over a hundred years, by Henry Cockerams The
English Dictionarie, in 1623. Dictionaries gradually increased in size as the
17th century progressed, but they continued to be specialized, dealing with
obscure
words
or
some
specific
branch
of
knowledge.

This contribution examines the digital revolution in lexicography from the
perspective of the dictionary user. We begin with an observation that in the
information age the status of the dictionary is changing, and so are patterns of
user behaviour, with general internet search engines encroaching on the
grounds traditionally reserved for lexicographic queries. Clearly, we need to
know more about user behaviour in the digital environment, and for this we
need to harness user research, to find out how the increasingly flexible and
adaptive lexical reference tools of the future need to behave to best
accommodate user needs. We summarize the existing findings and show in
what ways digital dictionaries are already able to serve users better than their
paper predecessors. The challenge to produce efficient and effective
dictionaries is best seen in the context of dictionary users reference skills,
which now tend to overlap with digital literacy. We conclude with a possible
vision of the future. (Robert Lew; Gilles-Maurice de Schryver, 2014)
According our observations, we found that many primary school students still
using thick dictionary book to search the meaning of words. A dictionary is
very heavy for them to bring to school daily. They should have this electronic
highlighter to assist them in studies because the application provides
information and meaning from various dictionaries. Even university students
also prefer electronic dictionary instead of the handy dictionary book.
Dictionary highlighter helps them to save time and energy in the process of
study.
1.3 Scope
Our group research project focus primary on the function of the highlighter
and app that provide a faster way to get rid of undefined words especially for
students that are lazy to look up the dictionary books. Smart-phones have
become an important way for every user to communicate, go online, and
access and share information. Innovation of the dictionary highlighter and new
launch app to connect with this highlighter is believed to become an important
app in every smartphones users.
speed to gain high customers value and good feedback. At the same time, we
pay high concentration on the design and features of smartphone application.
We acquire a completely new outlook of Dictionary Highlighter and
fascinating features of the application as we target to strive the app store
market.
Last step to include in this project is marketing. After production, we realized
that we also focus on marketing plan to promote sales. Before improvement of
our product, break-even profit should be reach to bring more new features to
customers. Therefore, we will make research on the market trends and always
ready to response to the market feedback and needs. Focus on R&D helps to
accomplish the best marketing strategy.

2.1 Approach
Our proposal report will begin in discuss about the problems that faced by
students. The methods we used to identify the problems is by observation
through the respondents in the research study. Survey research are conducted
within 100 respondents from UTeM students in which the questionaire are
distribute amongst them. We made a online reseach from internet for 100
respondents too about the the problems faced by university students to
strengthen our conclude. We give out a web-based questionaires to some
students for collecting their feedbacks and opinions. We found that most of the
primary even the secondary's school students having the same problems,
which is hard to carry the heavy dictionary to class everyday which is
necessary. Meanwhile, university students cannot access their smartphone
during lecture to search the meaning of words which lead to an ineffective in
their study. Since our mainly target is for primary and secondary students, so
we plan to modify the current highlighter by refering to journal and books to
make the data collection to provide more functions in it.We implement the
technologies in which the define option in the smart-phone text selector popup
gives you dictionary definitions for words once the connected apps being
2.2 Result
Our proposal will provide the new functions of the highlighter and how it give
the benefits and advantages to students in learning platform. This encourage
students to study in an efficient way. From this way, teachers in schools will
reaps the benefits. It is good to have a dictionary highlighter handy when
reading a document. If teacher or lecturer was unsure of the meaning of a
word in a document, they just highlight the word and then it will instantly find
out what it means. They can have a window open and drag words onto it to
save. This is particularly good if we are using software other than a browser. It
only takes a few seconds to complete the task. Similar to an university
students, they gain more benefits in it while it was quite useful and
convenience for them to brings it to class. This would made them stay focus in
class as any undefined words can be understand in just a fingertips. For
dictionary creater, they will have an ideal solution to make improvement to
their products to perform a more better functions for users. They are able to
innovate the dictionary existing in market that are more suitable and easy to
use for all students.

Since every students need dictionary in their study life, therefore a dictionary
highlighter can hit the market target to fulfill the customers needs. In order to

the world into and synchronize platform to launch a new app for the Lexicon.
A light weight highlighter and smart phones app to search the meaning of
words bring convenience to every customers. Asconclusion, the highlighter
that we invented is to reduce the burden of students to carry a heavy dictionary
to school every day. So, we invent this highlighter to make the student easier
to learn new words from time to time without using the handy dictionary. At
