Death Note (2006-2007)

This is a story about Yagami Light, a bored young genius who hates all things that are
evil. His life changes a lot when he discovers the Death Note, a notebook that can kill anyone
whose name is written on it. After trying it on several times, He meet unexpected guest on his
life. That is the previous owner of the notebook, a Shinigami called Ryuk. I encounter the word
Shinigami before. That is an evil creature who has wings and usually black. I think a Shinigami
looks like a devil though. Then, Light tells Ryuk about his plan on exterminating all evils and
useless from the world. He wants to become a God of the New World, where only honest and
kind remains. In this part, my feeling got intense because Light have a power to do it consider his
ownership of the Death Note. He is completely blind of this power because he is killing one by
one the criminals.
Soon, the unexplainable consecutive deaths of criminals catch the attention of Interpol
and the Worlds Famous Detective, L. L solves many unbelievable cases but he always make
himself hidden. He always make his assistant accepts cases who is hidden as well. He quickly
deduced that the killer lives in that certain place and name the criminal Kira. Then, Light
realized that L is his greatest enemy. In this part, I got excited because finally, theres a conflict
that will happen on the main characters of the story. They begins a cat and mouse game.
Light attempts to make an alibi by helping L and his task force to track down Kira which
is also himself. I got shock in this part because Light will backstab L. His plan is interfered when
the second Kira appears, who is Misa Amane, and her Shinigami Rem. Misa somehow discovers
also a Death Note. Misa easily identifies Light as the first Kira and follows him to his home

where he agrees to become her boyfriend exchange for her obedience and compliance. But L also
easily deduced that there is second Kira. However, Misas infatuation with Light soon drives her
to make several mistakes. The two of them are increasingly suspected by L. And then, Misa got
arrested and Light turns himself to L. They both relinquish ownership of the Death Note. In this
story, once you relinquish the ownership of the Death Note, your memory all about Death Note
will be erased.
During their detention, a new person somehow got the Death Note. Then, Third Kira
appears. It becomes clear that Light and Misa cannot be carrying out the Third Kiras murders. L
releases them but they are under house arrest at Ls headquarters. Light wants to join the
headquarters to capture the third Kira to clean his name. They easily identify the third Kira as the
member of an organization, Kiyosuke Higuchi and capture him. Upon touching the Death Note,
Light and Misa regains all their memories. I was shocked in this part because I didnt think that
touching again the Death Note would regain their memories.
Light also trick Rem, the Shinigami of Misa. It seems that Rem fall in love to Misa. Light
used Misa to manipulate Rem by killing L and his guardian Watari to saves Misas life. But
purposely killing someone to prolong the lifespan of human violates Shinigami Law. Rem died.
L died and Watari died. In this part, I got sad because I like L more than Light. Im slightly
disappointed but Im happy to this story.
