My Concrete Experience

This experiential learning episode will take you to the actual school setting. Here,
you will spend more time making observations and talking to your Resource Teacher.
The steps that will guide you in your journey in this episode are as follows:
1. Visit a particular teacher as your resource person in school.
2. Secure teachers program. Study the time schedule and the activities.
3. Make a class observation at certain period of the days activities.
Based on the daily program, find out what the teacher is supposed to do during the
time of your visit. Observe what the teacher is doing. Take note of the different activities.

Mrs. Mercado arranged her class


according to their skills/ability such as
those who are good in English, drawing,
singing ad more.
The bulletin boards being display
correlates as to what my resource
teachers subject is handling/her major
subjects. and, those bulletin boards are all
net, well-structured, well-arranged and
colorful to look at.
There is no formal school playground in
the basic education department only the
school playground near at the college
department. however, it needs for a
renovation in such a reason that it seems
like its too old.
The only learning center they have mainly
are the classroom, library and computer
laboratory.

Normally, Mrs. Mercado started the class


with a prayer, an energizer when needed,
class discussion and ended up the class
with another prayer.
The teacher gave some review, lecture
and seatwork.

This activity is really for better
socialization, confidence and gain more

My Reflections
Based on the teachers program, your observations and your interviews, would you
now see teaching to be full time job? Why? Why not?
Yes, I could really say that teaching is a full time job because it is not only a matter of
teaching the children how to write, count or speak English. It is not just also a way of
providing a conducive learning environment but most of all it is the best way of touching
the lives of every individual. It is a great profession which demands more patience,
commitment and passion in service hoping that after teaching them there is learning
and that learning will be applied by them as they go through on their journey.

How do you feel about the teachers workplace? Are the conditions, healthy for the
welfare of both the learners and teachers?
The teachers workplace, in my observation is not really nurturing. Being there if ever
I am their teacher would be uncomfortable for me since their classrooms are limited in
space and the chairs of the students are so big. There is no enough space to go around
the students.

Do you find the relationships of the teachers and the learners pleasant? Explain your
answer.
Yes, as what I had observed the relationship between the teacher and the children is
quite pleasant. It seems that the teacher acts like a mother of them. She used to secure
that every one of them is behaving well and being attentive on her discussions. She
developed fairness on her treatment among the students.

My Affirmed Concepts
What previous learning or concepts that you have gained in your professional
education courses are affirmed by this learning episode? Give at least three, by
completing the sentences below.
My previous learning in the content courses that were confirmed by this learning
episode is the following:
1. That . the teacher should arouse the interest of the children before starting a
proper discussion through motivation. This is done in order for them to be
energized and being attentive on her discussion. And that also, the teacher
should be firm in order to discipline and refrain them from being so unruly inside
the class.
2. That the teacher should consider the individual differences of the children.
She treated them equally and promote a harmonious relationship by settling
immediately whatever trouble happened in the classroom.
3. That the teacher emphasizes the relevance of the topic by integrating it into
real life situation. The learners throw some questions to their teacher and the
teacher answer those questions simultaneously. There is a good interaction and
collaboration in the class which normally happened for the Araling Panlipunan
classes.

My Future Application
How can I improve the school setting that I have observed when I become a teacher?
1. Classroom Arrangement
Maybe, I will become a teacher someday I should replace the chairs
of the learners because it seems that their bigger chairs make the
classroom so crowded. Also, I might add another sailing fan/electric fan for
a comfortable classroom.
2. Bulletin Board Display
Maybe, I should use light colors in decorating the display boards
with enough sizes to make it more attractive and visible to our eyes.
Bulletin boards should be added so that the learners mind and attention
will focus inside the classroom and to avoid being unruly at times that they
get bored.

3. School Playground
Maybe, I given the chance, I will suggest to the administration that
the school playground should be renovated to avoid the learners
from accident. And, if ever there is no budget yet, maybe I should
warn my students to be careful when they are playing amidst the
grasses outside the classroom.
4. Classroom Routines
If I become a teacher in the future, I should follow what my resource
teacher did. Before starting a class I have to make sure that the
classroom is clean and well arranged so the learners will be more
attentive.

5. Teacher Activities
If I will become a teacher, I will consider the different learning styles
of the students and by doing so, I have to prepare different activities
after such discussion so that slow learners will be given the chance
to answer the questions.
6. Co Curricular Activities
If I become a teacher in the nearer future I should motivate my
students to study their lessons always, develop a good study habit
and encourage them to participate in all activities that develop
learning.
7. Extra Curricular Activities
If ever I would be a teacher someday, I will also encourage my
students to join such activities that enhance their unique skills and
abilities such as sports and other extra curricular activities.
