5597 ‘Special Meeting 28 September 2015 The Board of Education of the Borough of Lodi, New Jersey, convened to hold a Special Meeting, 28 September 2015, at the Board of Education Meeting Room, Lincoin School, 8 Hunter Street, Lodi, New Jersey, at 6:30 P.M. for the following purpose (to the extent known): 1. Review and discuss the Lincoln School Building Structural Assessment The meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. by Mr. Joseph Licata, Board President who led in the Pledge of Allegiance. ‘The following statement was read by Mr. Licata: “The New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law was enacted to ensure the right of the public to have advance notice of and to attend the meetings of public bodies at which any business affecting their interests is discussed or acted upon. In accordance with the Provisions of this Act, the Lodi Board of Education has caused notice of this meeting to be Published by having the date, time, and place thereof sent and/or published in the Herald News, Bergen Record, Office of the Borough Clerk, and the entrance to the Board of Education Meeting Room." The following members of the Board of Education were present: Trustees Vara, Telep, Garafa, Miller, Marra, Nardino, Carbonetti, and Licata ‘The following member of the Board of Education was absent: Trustee D’Amico. Also present was: Mr. Marc A. Capizzi, Board Secretary/Business Administrator and Mr. Frank Quatrone, Superintendent of Schools. REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT None OLD BUSINESS Board President, Mr. Licata, informed the Trustees that the Committee formed to review the structural assessment of the Lincoln School Building had completed its review and was prepared to make a recommendation to the Board. Mr. Licata indicated that the Committee met on two separate occasions to review and discuss the structural engineer's report and the report of the cost estimator, copies of which had been provided to the Trustees. The structural engineer attended the second Meeting to conduct a tour of the building and address questions and concerns of the Committee. Mr. Licata then summarized the factors considered by the Committee while forming it’s recommendation, including but not limited to, the recommendations provided in the structural engineer's report, cost, the age and condition of the building, funding of the project, and the long term viability and safety of the building. Mr, Licata informed the Board that the Committee unanimously recommended that the Lincoln Schoo! Building be demolished and a new administrative/child study team facility be constructed. 5598 ‘Special Meeting 28 September 2015 The Board discussed the Committee's conclusions and upon a motion by Carafa, seconded by Carbonnetti, the Board approved the Committee's recommendation to demolish the Lincoln School Building and construct a new administrative/child study team facility for the Lodi School District. Upon a motion by Vara, seconded by Carafa, the Board approved the Committee's recommendation to authorize the Board Secretary/Business Administrator to prepare and receive Requests for Proposals for an Architectural Firm to prepare plans and specifications and manage the demolition of the Lincoln School Building and the Construction of a new administrative/child team facility for the Lodi School District. NEW BUSINESS None HEARING OF CITIZENS None ADJOURNMENT Upon a motion by Nardino, seconded by Miler and approved unanimously, the meeting was adjourned at 6:52 P.M.
