UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS:
This media contains Maintenance Release files provided as replacements
for previously installed NX 10.0 documentation.
The Documentation Base release for this maintenance release is a prerequisite
to installing this update. e.g. Documentation for Version XX.Y must be
installed before updating to Documentation Version XX.Y.Z
Several methods are provided to perform the update:
1. Autoplay the DVD then select 'Install Documentation Update'.
2. Or, run the DVD 'launch.exe' program then select
'Install Documentation Update'.
3. Or, change dir to the nxdocs_updateXXXX folder then run
'run_nxdocs_update.exe'.
The above methods will all run 'run_nxdocs_update.exe'. It then calls the
nxdocs_update.bat script to apply the updates.
4. OR, you may follow the instructions below to run nxdocs_update.bat
directly.
Change directory to the 'nxdocs_updateXXXX' folder, then execute
the 'nxdocs_update.bat' script.
e.g. cd nxdocs_updateXXXX
nxdocs_update.bat /v
The use of UNC pathnames (e.g. \\server\path) is supported by both
nxdocs_update.bat and run_nxdocs_update.exe.
The script supports a "/v" switch to turn on verbose messages while doing the
updates. The default operation of the script is non-verbose.
The script supports a "/d" switch. This will turn off all the script
confirmation prompts. This is useful for running the update in a batch job.
The script also supports a "/p" switch. This will turn off the initial
confirmation prompt but it will display the final 'done' prompt. This is
useful for running the update in a batch job where a final prompt is desired.
Systems using the SPLMDocServer;
If the Siemens PLM Documentation Server IS installed on the system, the
update script will detect this, use a registry setting to locate the Siemens
properties file and then read configuration information from the file. The
documentation server should be up and running during the update so that the
new Solr search indices can be uploaded. At the end of the script it will
request permission to restart the server. (No request if -d switch is used).
Systems NOT using the SPLMDocServer:
If the Siemens PLM Documentation Server IS NOT installed on the system, such
as sites using a non-Siemens documentation server. The update script will

prompt for the directory containing the plm_helpserver.properties file. It

will then read the file for the configuration information. Your documentation
server should be up and running during the update so that the new Solr search
indices can be uploaded. At the end of the script it will request that you
stop and restart your server.
