ConsciousDiscipline:
Itwasnicegettingparentstogetherlastweektodiscusswhatwearedoingasa
schoolandsometipsthatcancarryoverintoparenting.Ourschoolisdedicatedtolearningaboutthebrain
statesofchildrenandourselvesandhowwecanbestassisttheminlearning.Wemustlearntotameand

Mrs.Careys5thgradeclasswillbeparticipatingintheSpencerCountyCommunity
FoundationsBigGiveChallenge.Thischallengeisfor5thgradeclassestocomeupwiththebestwayto
raisemoneytodonatetononprofitorganizationsinthecounty.TheSpencerCountyCommunityFoundation
willmatchourdonationupto$200.WehavedecidedtodonatetoHospiceandTheEmergencyAmbulance
Service.WewillberaisingourmoneybyhavingaPENNYWARbetweenclassesstartingnextweek,Monday,
Nov.2.Bucketswillbelocatedinthegymeachmorningforoneweektocollectmoney.Theamountof
penniescollectedwillbetotaledforeachclass.Tomakethecompetitionmoreexciting,ifadifferentcoinis
placedinabucket,thatamountwillbeSUBTRACTEDfromtheclasstotalbutwillADDtoourdonationtotal.
(Forexample,ifabuckethas100penniesbutalsoaquartertheamountforthatclasswillbe$1.00.25=$.75)
Ourtotalfordonationswillbe$1.25.Welookforwardtothecompetition,theexperienceofhelpingour

favoritesportsteamoutofKentucky,IU,andPurdue.Eachcentthatisdonatedcountsas1vote.$1.00=100
votes.Toencouragestudentstoparticipate,wearesettingagoaltoraise$100.Ifthestudentsraise$100,a
studentwillbeselectedtoputapieinMrs.Weismansface!Ifwereach$150,astudentwillbeabletoputa
pieinMrs.Schmittsface!Inordertobeputintherunningforthechancetohavetheirnameselectedtoputa
pieinMrs.Weismansface,studentswillneedtodonateatleast$1.00andalsobringatleast2canned
goods!Theycanhavetheirnameenteredeachdaythattheymeetthesestandards,sotheycanhavetheir
nameenteredupto5times!Thiswillhelpourcannedfooddriveaswell,sothisisawin,win!
